Smiles for Kids Dentistry, Orthodontics & Oral Sugery has pediatric dental specialists on staff overseeing our dental operations. Pediatric dentists are childrens dentists who elect to take an extra two years of schooling to specialize in pediatric dentistry. Our childrens dentists work with children aged nine months to 18 years, and with special needs patients up to 26 years. No matter how minor or serious your childs needs are, we have the knowledge and technology upon which you can rely.
Kelly Wells, DDS is a native New Mexican who grew up in the Santa Fe/Albuquerque area. After graduating summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Wells attended dental school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she earned her DDS. Upon graduating from dental school, she returned home to Albuquerque to be close to family, friends, and the beautiful Sandia mountains. She is very excited to be a part of the Route 66 team where she continues to enjoy providing dental care for children of all ages. Dr. Wells is an active member of several national and local dental associations and serves as an Albuquerque District Representative in the New Mexico Dental Association House of Delegates. When she is not working, Dr. Wells spends most of her time with her family and friends. She has a passion for cooking, gardening, and spending time outdoors in the foothills hiking, running, and enjoying the friendly and beautiful environment that New Mexico provides.
Brendon Prestwich, DDS is a native New Mexican, having been born and raised in Albuquerque he completed high school at Eldorado. After graduating, he attended Brigham Young University, Idaho where he acquired a bachelors degree in biology. He then attained his graduate degree at Ohio State University where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). Dr. Prestwich lived and practiced the beginning of his career in Charleston, South Carolina. He then returned home to Albuquerque in 2013 where he has been continuing to practice dentistry. Dr. Prestwich enjoys spending time with his wife Danelle and their five children. He likes tinkering with projects around his house!
Jennifer Lapsker, DDS was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She graduated with a degree in Integrative Biology in 2005 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Following in her father's footsteps, she decided to pursue dentistry and earned her D.D.S. degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry. It is here that she met her husband, Jonathan. Dr. Lapsker worked with her father before making the move to Albuquerque and has been providing care to the great state of New Mexico since 2010. In her spare time, Dr. Lapsker likes to learn about different cultures, cook, do crafts, and spend time with her Toy Poodle, Abbey

Would not recommend at all. I had 3 appointments. They rushed all 3 cleanings, did not floss right and was rude for no reason. This place is unprofessional including the lady up front. Unless you want improper work done on your teeth don't come here.

This dental office is awful!! I took my son here and the male dental assistant seemed very agitated an didn't have much patience . The doctor came in an told me my child had 2 cavities an needed them filled . Scheduled an appointment months out so HE can fill them , finally the appointment came an he wasn't even the one that was going to do it , it was a whole other doctor. She came in the room literally looked at my son an told the assistant she couldn't work on him an he was going to need to be sedated when I asked why she said because she didn't want to scare my child an she wanted his experience to be good when all my child do was ask what they are going to do .. she told me I can schedule another appointment to see the previous doctor I seen because she don't know who I seen an what he told me like what!!!! Don't they put notes in the systems... they had to refer me out to one of their other office were they do the sedation which was another few months to get in . Then they had the nerve to still bill my insurance for a procedure this didn't even get done!!! I Went an got a second opinion on my child's teeth an he had NO cavities!!!!! This place is ridiculous!!!

Absolutely amazing we lucked out and were able to get all of my child's appointments back to back. The staff is amazing and friendly everytime we enter this building. Love it here. We have used this location going on 14 years!!!!

The staff are so polite, they handled my children with care, they were so nice to them, my kids love them, I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends.

They do only see kids there for Needs to be more kid friendly lobby was very empty and windows really need to be cleaned from top to bottom they were disgusting makes me wonder how clean and disinfected they are in the back BUT staff was very professional and friendly I loved how the dental assistant took into consideration and asked me if I had any concerns that needed to be addressed to the dentist.

I took my grandson in for an appointment and the staff was absolutely kind, the cleaning of his teeth was well done and the doctor was clear about everything on his visit. I recommend this office to everyone. Keep up the wonderful team work. Thank you to all the staff.

This was my son's first visit to any dentist. Receptionists were very friendly and helpful. The assistants and dentist were all amazing with my son and kept my son comfortable. We definitely are going back and will highly recommend to friends and family!

Very prompt and the staff is friendly. Very clean. Noticed the staff constantly sanitizing surfaces after being used. Keep up the good work!

They want you to call when you arrive but nobody answers the phone until AFTER your 15 minute mark, then they want it say they have to reschedule you because your past your 15 minute mark. Staff need guidance on their customer service and speaking skills.

Great experience with Route 66 Children's Dental, my two year old is impatient and rambunctious and they were able to get us in and seen swiftly and so kindly! Definitely recommend for anyone with small children.
