Dr. Epstein was born and raised here on the Peninsula. He attended VCU for dental school in Richmond, Virginia. After dental school, he came back to his roots and opened his office in Kiln Creek, where he spent most of his childhood. Of course, Kiln Creek looked a lot different in the 70s and 80s, but 25 years later this is still where he calls home.
The Caring Dentist came to be while Dr. Epstein was in dental school. In the waiting area, Dr. Epstein heard patients talking about how they felt that the dentists did not care about them. Dr. Epstein wanted to be different. Other offices carried the name Gentle, Affordable and so on. But at the time, none possessed the name of Caring, thus, The Caring Dentist was born. Dr. Epstein has lived up to this name over the years. He still lives up to it today!
Dr. Epstein not only loves people; he enjoys art, music and dental history. This is reflected in his office, as dental antiques are displayed throughout the office. Dr. Epstein held the title and position of the President of the History of Dentistry for many years.

Have been seeing dr.epstein for over half of my life. Best dentist by far. Really personable, takes the time to explains everything to you and has a great bedside manner. Not to mention everyone you interact with is kind and truly cares about you. I'd even go far as to say it's the chikfila of dentistry lol.

I made the mistake of not taking Doc's advice and going somewhere else. Now I've come back for him to fix the problems. He really is the Caring Dentist. He knows his stuff! I would highly recommend him. And he has the best staff. They greet you with a smile and make you feel welcomed.

I cannot say enough about Dr.Ross Epstein and his staff.. My family and I have always had great experiences. Today was much the same. It's incredible we never feel his shots before a procedure.

We had Dr Epstein few years ago but because of insurance we ended up going to a different dentist and the experience was never the same. With a new insurance we are back and we were treated like we never left. I also had a medical condition and the medication I take affects the health of my gums. Suzanne, the hygienist who diligently worked on my teeth suggested that I come every 3 months to keep up with the issues I have and since then, my gums and teeth have been great and has not given me problems. I am grateful for the care because I know in the long run it will benefit me. They also took great care of my children who have braces. They were thorough in cleaning and just a great overall atmosphere. It makes you like going to the dentist!

Dr. Epstein is the only dentist that ever listened to me and showed concern for my anxiety. His numbing shots are the ONLY shots I've never felt. His hands are magical. He understands my concerns and always helps me make the best decision for the health of my teeth. He's hilarious, charming, careful, and gentle. The rest of the staff is just as marvelous.

I needed an emergency temporary crown as my tooth broke 2 days ago(Sunday) and we are traveling in less than a week. My regular dentist couldn't give me an appointment for 4 days. Dr. Epstein saw me on Monday and had me fitted with a temporary crown on Tuesday. I can only tell you that he and his office staff are a wonderful, warm and caring bunch of people. Most importantly Dr. Epstein is efficient, knowledgeable and the best. My husband and I will never go back to the old dentist! I highly recommend Dr. Epstein.

Being a kid who never failed to forget to brush my teeth throughout my life I had probably 10 cavities, I was very worried when I had to go to the dentist but literally time and time again whenever I have to get anything fixed in my teeth, Dr. Epstein's techniques have never failed, I can confidently say that I never have any pain when my cavities get fixed by him. He works with kids so well by engaging in conversation with them throughout the operation, it never fails that when I have been here I have expected less but Dr. Epstein has always made it painless and enjoyable.

Dr. Epstein and staff were amazing throughout my visit. Dr. Epstein was able to see me for an emergency appointment and I couldn't have been more grateful. He thoroughly explained what was happening with my teeth and had a plan to rectify the situation, which immediately put me at ease. Dr.Epstein and his co-workers are very polite and welcoming. I went to the dentist yesterday to get a tooth filling , I came in terrified but as soon as I sat in the chair Dr.Epstein comforted me , and told me that everything was going to be gentile and I wouldn't feel anything! While getting my tooth filled , him and his hygienist kept a conversation although that I couldn't say much with my mouth open. Oh and if you are 12 like me don't be scared to get a numbing shot I promise you will not feel a thing! He does a special trick that no one knows about. I haven't been to many dentist but I think that Dr.Epstein is here for the win.

I visited Dr. Epstein September of 2020 for my six month exam. I was due for an X-ray and I was pleasantly surprised to be introduced to a brand new piece of equipment called the panoramic head scan. I stood still while this state of the art device painlessly scanned around my head to give the doctor a clear picture of my teeth but also serendipity discovered the presence of calcification in my left carotid artery! Dr. Epstein's observation upon my scan saved my life. I was able to report this finding to my medical doctor who after checking my cholesterol and considering other risk factors, agreed I could benefit from a cholesterol lowering agent. This is my testimony to the skill and knowledge of Dr. Epstein and his staff who are trained to use state of the art equipment which has positively impacted my overall health care.

A broken tooth brought me back to Dr. Epstein after being away for 2 years. (I don't recommend skipping regular checkups.) Besides the broken tooth, I needed to have 2 cavities filled, and my teeth required deep cleaning. I had a lot of anxiety going into these procedures. But Dr. Epstein and Chrissy made the experience very comfortable. I had no pain whatsoever, during or after. The whole staff from front office all the way back gave me very good care. I highly recommend Dr. Epstein. "The Caring Dentist" is not just a slogan, he's for real.

My family and I have been under Dr. Epstein's care for over 20 yrs. I could not be more pleased. He is wonderful. He is very friendly, kind and does excellent work. His staff is always helpful and nice. I have recommended many people to Dr. Epstein and will continue to recommend him in the future
