Dr. Washburn graduated from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1970 and began his practice with the US Army Dental Corps at Army Intelligence Headquarters in Ft. Holabird, Baltimore, Md. He served as the Second in Command, Preventive Dentistry Officer from 1970-1972. After leaving the military, he practiced as an associate dentist in San Mateo, CA for several years before beginning his practice in Salinas, CA in 1974, where he was also on staff at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital from 1981 to 82.
Dr. Washburns professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Monterey Bay Dental Society, Governor of the Monterey Bay Colony from 2006-2008, Host of the Salinas Lions Club for 40 years, Cub Master for the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Mayflower Descendants since 1988, and he was awarded Veteran of the Year in 2009.
In addition to the joy he receives from practicing dentistry and meeting and getting to know patients, Dr. Washburn also enjoys jogging, traveling, backpacking, mathematics, science, history, genealogy, and of course, spending time with his 4 grandchildren.
