Dr. Roland G. Nentwich is a specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. He began his studies as an undergrad at Holy Cross College in Worcester. Then, he attended the University of Buffalo where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Following his studies, he practiced general dentistry in his own practice in Oxford, Mass. He continued on the path of education and received his Masters in Oral Medicine at the University of Buffalo and also completed his orthodontic clinical rotation and received his orthodontic certificate from the Eastman Dental Center (University of Rochester) in 1996.
Since 1997, Dr. Nentwich has taken on the role of clinical instructor and guest lecturer at the Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He teaches courses like Facial Growth and Development and Growth Guidance through Orthopedic Appliances.
In addition to his teaching, he is also affiliated with organizations such as the Worcester Dental Society (where he is co-editor), the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists (where he is Board qualified in orthodontics), the American Dental Society and the Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Nentwich is a strong supporter of continuing education. He continually attends meetings and conferences in order to refine his expertise. He also promotes continuing education for his team and encourages each member to attend seminars and workshops in order to expand their knowledge and skills.
What I Love About My Job: I have been fortunate to watch smiles transform for over ten years. I enjoy the challenges of orthodontics, as well as seeing the progress and change that our patients experience. Its an incredible feeling of accomplishment for the patients as well as myself!
A Little About Me: I graduated from the US Army of Health Sciences located on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. There I received my diploma as a Dental Specialist. I launched my career in Ortho with Dr. Nentwich in 2007.
Therapeutic visitation dogs play a special role in society. Therapy dogs can help patients suffering from disorders such as Anxiety, severe disruptive behavioral disorder, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder). Studies have shown that when we touch dogs, it has a healing power because hormones like dopamine and beta-endorphin are released.
Its more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces, so the teeth and gums are healthy during orthodontic treatment. Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning. Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see a periodontist during orthodontic treatment. Watch the two videos below on the proper care of braces during orthodontic treatment.
What can you eat? Lets talk about what you shouldnt eat! For the first day or so, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard breads, and raw vegetables. Before long, youll be able to bite a cucumber again. But youll need to protect your orthodontic appliances when you eat for as long as youre wearing braces.
When you get your braces on, you may feel general soreness in your mouth and teeth may be tender to biting pressures for 3 5 days. Take Tylenol or whatever you normally take for headache or discomfort. The lips, cheeks and tongue may also become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become accustomed to the braces. We will supply wax to put on the braces in irritated areas to lessen discomfort.
To successfully complete orthodontic treatment, the patient must work together with the orthodontist. The teeth and jaws can only move toward their corrected positions if the patient consistently wears the rubber bands or other appliances as prescribed. Lack of cooperation following instructions and damaged appliances lengthen the treatment time so please follow instructions.

Best Orthodontist in the area. I travel 40min just to have this quality of orthodontal care. I have one son who has already completed his treatment and now My middle son is starting his treatment here as well. Dr Nentwich is great and the office staff are impeccable. Great staff. Very friendly and professional. My 7 year old daughter is starting phase 1 of braces and the staff and dentist couldn't be more caring. They take their time and explain everything to my daughter and myself so she knows exactly what to expect.

I can't say enough kind and positive things about this practice. From the moment you enter the office as a new patient to the after care experience, Dr. Nentwich and his staff were knowledgeable and experienced. I was an adult when I had braces put on. I was so unhappy about my smile and facial asymmetry, Dr. Nentwich not only gave me a perfect smile but gave me confidence. It's been 10 years since my braces were removed and I still get compliments on how strait and perfect my teeth are. I would definitely recommend.

Dr. Nentwich and his staff are phenomenal! They are very caring, knowledgeable, informative, and accommodating. I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Nentwich! He takes the time to explain everything and gives you the best options that will work for you and your family. He COMPLETELY fixed and transformed my son's class III cross bite into a HEALTHY, gorgeous, smile....and now he's taking care of me with adult braces! The process has been so smooth! My sons hygienist mentioned how she can't believe the changes since his last cleaning. Dr. Nentwich is great and has the best staff ever! They are always so positive and upbeat with my son. We feel they are genuinely happy to see him at every appointment. We had an issue with a wire while in Niagara Falls on vacation. Dr. Nentwich not only took our call personally after hours he made sure we found someone in the area and got it corrected. While on the phone he also told us a few tips for the area to see because he was familiar with the area. That was totally going above and beyond. The orthodontist in Niagara Falls even knew of him!!!

My daughter had a great experience with Dr. Nentwich and his staff. Even though she did not always live her braces, Dr. Nentwich made it easy for her to take care of. She got her braces off just this morning, and her teeth look amazing!!
