Dr Doherty appears to be quite experienced and a good dental surgeon. If you're thinking about an implant though I would suggest going beyond the website of the professional association promoting dental implants. Check out the Cochrane collection as well as the journal of evidence-based dentistry. you may decide that you're better off having the tooth extracted and if necessary the bone built up and then having a less drastic procedure like a bridge. I had my crown put on the abutment from the implant a few days ago and, because the dentist used a lab in another state, or perhaps another country to save himself money the tooth is not well aligned larger than the surrounding teeth. I subsequently learned when I flossed the first time afterwards that it's very narrow near the gum, unlike normal teeth which don't change diameter at the gum line, which means close attention has to be paid while brushing and flossing to avoid gum infection. A study in Europe found that 9 years after implant surgery 77% of patients had gum problems at the implant. Do your homework thoroughly before agreeing to anything you are going to have to live with the rest of your life.

People are people... Billing can be confusing. That said, Dr. Dorherty is the best surgeon i've seen. It's been a long journey; bone graph, implants, on the front teeth He's recreated my jaw, and set the implants in an impossible way. I'm just thankful. I would highly recommend him as an oral surgeon

I didn't end up getting the work I needed done here, because the front staff was just impossible. I had a consultation with Dr. Doherty, which went fine and he told me what I would need to pay at the time of my extraction and bone graft, and what would be billed at the time of my implant, several months later. He knew that I didn't have insurance at the consultation (in Dec), but would be getting back on my former plan in March. I left, thinking Great! How nice of him to be willing to work with me and offer to delay some of the billing until the next appointment. Then, a few days before my procedure (10 days before Christmas) I got my appointment reminder call. Oddly she asked what procedure I was having, then proceeded to tell me I would need to pay more than triple the amount quoted by the doctor. I told her that was outrageous and asked what the point of the consultation was, if not to clarify these things and make a plan for both parties to honor. After consulting with some one, she said I would still need to pay more than double the original amount, because I might not come back. There was, of course, more to this conversation, but the important thing was her flippant attitude toward my situation and the disregarding of the agreed upon payment plan. My dentist says that Dr. Doherty is very good, so this isn't about his ability. There is dysfunctional communication between him, his staff and the patient. Sadly the patient is expected to compensate for that. I wasn't going to write a review, but seeing that another person also had trouble with the billing side of this business, I thought you should be forewarned to get everything in writing and ask plenty of questions.

The quote for the work, which was approaching 5 digits, stated: Impatient fee includes: ...lab fabricated provisional (temporary retainer) and 30% at first appointment Now I need the lab fabricated provisional and they want $150.00 and 100% at first appointment - I was not ready for that Dr. Doherty where has integrity and decency gone in business today?

My son suffered terrible damage to his front teeth from a diving board accident10 years ago. After years of orthodontics, endodontics and multiple surgeries, the damage was irreparable. We are amazed at how wonderful they have been before, during and after his surgery. The ice cream to take home, the beautiful flowers that were delivered and the exceptionally thoughtful follow up call from Dr. Doherty the night of his surgery was truly touching. We would highly recommend Dr. Doherty and his team at Rogue Valley Oral & Maxiofacial.

My experience was much easier than I had anticipated. Everything was handled professionally, from the consultation to the surgery. The staff put me at ease. Dr. Dorhety explained the procedure, and made me feel comfortable. I really appreciated the follow up call from the doctor that evening. I would refer my family to him.

I just had a little surgery with Dr.Doherty and his assistant Jamie and it was perfect the took out my bottom right molar and they did a fantastic job. I couldn't be happier with the treatment, the price and the over all service. I do recommend this business

Dr. Doherty seemed very knowledgeable and competent -- the only quibble I had with his care is that he persisted in speaking to my sharp, intelligent mother like she was a slightly stupid five-year-old, and greeted her, "Hello, young lady." You know the type? His office staff, on the other hand, acted incompetently and caused my 90-year-old mother unnecessary distress in the handling of her prescription. She was left sitting in the car outside a pharmacy for nearly an hour because the receptionist could not be bothered to call over her prescription for 25 minutes even though staff were told the call and need were urgent. Rather than apologize for this unkindness, thoughtlessness and lack of care, the office manager tried to shift blame, telling me I should have made arrangements to have a prescription I wasn't even aware of sent to the pharmacy in advance. I did not appreciate it. Be professional. Own your junk and admit your mistakes.

I had to have two teeth removed. One was complicated and need pathology done. We all know that means they are looking for cancer. Could not find a local oral surgeon that would remove the tooth. Went in the office terrified. Which I told them. Since I traveled a distance they did a consultation and surgery on the same day. Which saved me a whole day traveling. They took me in early. Made me as comfortable as possible. He spent extra time explaining what it could be and what could be done. Excellent and professional, he and the whole staff. Got it done. Spent time with me explaining care and what to expect. I left bleeding but feeling much better than when I went in. Went back a week later to have it checked and find out results. It was a cyst. At no time was I pressured into expensive treatments. The fee was not excessive for the service I had done. Then discovered I left my cell phone there. I called and one of the office women answered the cell. They had already called my emergency number to let me know they had the phone. They mailed it and it was here in two days. I was very impressed with the service. They focused on me and my comfort through the whole thing. I will go back if I need more work done and this time not be terrified. Cannot praise enough. Awesome surgeon and staff.

Very friendly and efficient service. Was treated with kindness and respect. Went in for free consultation on Thursday and was set up for oral surgery (implant) on the following Wednesday. The sedation made the process painless although I could hear what was going on. They worked with my grants Pass dental office to create a temporary tooth saving me having to take another day off work. They send me home with plenty of pain meds but to my delight I woke up the next morning with no pain. Did I mention dr Doherty called to check up on me personally and they send a sweet flower arrangement thanking me for choosing them. The cost was half that quoted to me by a "compassionate " Grants Pass Dentist, so I was happy with that too. Would definitely recommend this surgeon.

I had a bad feeling from the get go. Started out with a consultation. Then scheduled my surgery for the following week. On the day of my surgery my wife and I took off work only to find out that they mistakenly scheduled me for another consultation and didn't schedule me for the surgery. At that time I had been on antibiotics going on three weeks. They totally dropped the ball on giving me any information prior to the surgery. So I rescheduled again and was ready to do the surgery. Went in on the new scheduled date and my mistake was that I had two sips of coffee the morning of the surgery. They asked if I had anything to eat or drink. I told them that I had a couple of sips of coffee. They said they weren't able to knock me out. Which would have been fine with me. However my gut was telling me that this was a blessing in disguise and just needed to get out of there. Given the lack of compassion and unfriendliness of Dr Doherty, I chose to get my money back and go back to premier care dental, where I already had a good experience.

Having to have an oral surgical procedure can be frightening for many. The experience I had at the Rogue Valley Oral & Maxilloficial Surgery, PC went extremely well. The staff were fantastic, making sure I was comfortable as well as informed. Do to circumstances , Dr. Doherty went out of his way to fit me in his tight schedule for treatment that normally would have taken much longer. Dr. Doherty made sure I understood the full procedure. Dr. Doherty personally called me the following day to check up on me. He went beyond the call when my doorbell rang and a bouquet of flowers were delivered from him wishing me well. Thank you Dr. Doherty and your staff. (Dasta Shuma dard nacone)
