A dental implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.

A dental extraction (also referred to as tooth extraction, exodontia, exodontics, or informally, tooth pulling) is the removal of teeth from the dental alveolus (socket) in the alveolar bone. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, but most commonly to remove teeth which have become unrestorable through tooth decay, periodontal disease or dental trauma, especially when they are associated with toothache.

The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are the two joints connecting the jawbone to the skull. It is a bilateral synovial articulation between the temporal bone of the skull above and the mandible below; it is from these bones that its name is derived.

Orthognathic surgery, also known as corrective jaw surgery or simply jaw surgery, is surgery designed to correct conditions of the jaw and face related to structure, growth, sleep apnea, TMJ disorders, malocclusion problems owing to skeletal disharmonies, or other orthodontic problems that cannot be easily treated with braces.

Corrective jaw, or orthognathic surgery is performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon (OMS) to correct a wide range of minor and major skeletal and dental irregularities, including the misalignment of jaws and teeth. Surgery can improve chewing, speaking and breathing. While the patient's appearance may be dramatically enhanced as a result of their surgery, orthognathic surgery is performed to correct functional problems.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS or OMFS) specializes in treating many diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral (mouth) and maxillofacial (jaws and face) region. It is an internationally recognized surgical specialty.

In the practice of medicine (especially surgery and dentistry), anesthesia or anaesthesia is a state of temporary induced loss of sensation or awareness. It may include analgesia (relief from or prevention of pain), paralysis (muscle relaxation), amnesia (loss of memory), or unconsciousness. A patient under the effects of anesthetic drugs is referred to as being anesthetized.

The term pathology itself may be used broadly to refer to the study of disease in general, incorporating a wide range of bioscience research fields and medical practices (including plant pathology and veterinary pathology), or more narrowly to describe work within the contemporary medical field of 'general pathology,' which includes a number of distinct but inter-related medical specialties that diagnose diseasemostly through analysis of tissue, cell, and body fluid samples.

I came to see Dr. Rogers after being referred by my dentist back home in Anguilla (Caribbean). What an awesome experience, from start to finish. I had bone grafting done and I was in communication with Dr. Rogers months prior to my arrival. His knowledge and delivery of information and service, caring nature and kindness are incomparable. Dr. Rogers went above and beyond to ensure that I received the best care both professionally and personally while there. As I walked into the facility, I was greeted by such warmth and professionalism, an overall exceptional service. The facility is immaculate, well designed and refreshing. I felt comfortable from check-in to check-out. The staff were so very friendly and at the same time carried out their duties efficiently - they really do care! The best part....I felt absolutely "no pain" during my procedure - I slept! What an amazing experience - nothing I have ever experienced and one that I will always speak on. Thank you Dr. Rogers for taking such good care of me, and for the exemplary service rendered by you and your entire team. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I don't recommend Rogers Center for oral and facial surgery. I went in to have three teeth extracted. I was supposed to have an appointment Monday but they wanted to be closed on Monday so they called everybody in on Friday to have their procedures early. After waiting an hour and a half past the time I was asked to come in he finally got to me . They were supposed to give me gas.If he did at all (which I don't think he did) it did absolutely nothing for me. It was the most horrifying experience I'd ever had. Even if he done everything right it was horrifying. as if having a dental procedure without enough medication isn't bad enough he broke a tooth that was salvageable, he didn't tell me at the time that I was in the office. I went home to remove the guaze packs to find that it was broken. The staff was supposed to call and check on me but since Monday was a holiday I guess they waited until Tuesday so when they called I talked to her and told her it would have been nice for him to tell me at the time that he broke my tooth she put me on hold brought over the office manager the office manager asked me to come in for x-rays today. He takes an x-ray so he can show me there's a hole in my tooth. Duh, it's there because he broke it Friday. The professional thing would have been to do if he couldn't remove the tooth beside it without breaking it to tell me to have the filling done first but he neglected to do that and then had me come in for x-rays for no reason to sit there and say he didn't break my tooth and there wasn't anything he could do for me today. he also have the nerve to say he didn't bring me in, then you shouldn't have your office manager tell me to come in she's acting as your proxy when she schedules an appointment. I wasted a whole 2 hours of my day to come out here again just to find yet another person in Georgia has zero personal responsibility and are irresponsible to their patients. Save yourself some trouble and future unexpected dental work. Don't go to this place. You'll be worse off than before you went in.

I highly recommend them for oral surgery with anesthesia. I have anxiety so this helped me big time by putting me to sleep

My regular dentist referred me to Rogers Center and I'm happy they did. I love black businesses so much. I walked in and was greeted by the receptionist right away. It smelt like warm, loving, cookies and candles. I had my consultation Tuesday and no lie, my anxiety was on 157 But the dentist walked me through everything to expect, post and pre op. Then I was directed to speak on the costs and scheduling. I was honestly expecting to pay more than I was quoted once my insurance knocked off a few thousand. I've spoke to sooo many dentist offices in Atlanta that for one wisdom teeth was $500-$900 so I Am Grateful! Anywho, I ended up coming back two days later(thank God they had availability). I've never had surgery ever so the precautions they took helped ease my mind (Heart monitor, Blood pressure monitor, Fresh Oxygen, IV for sedation, even gave me two asthma pumps (previous asthma issues) to ensure a clear breathway. I honestly don't know when I fell asleep. And was so confused when I woke up because whatYou telling me it only took, less than an hour to pull my teeth! 2 broken wisdom teeth + 2 extractions. They wheeled me to hubby and I haven't felt any pain since. My jaw started feeling a tad tight, but once I ingested the pills they prescribed, everything was okay. No swelling, no nothing. I feel like I can conquer the world omg. I been starving all day cause im too scared to eat or drink anything, but at least im not in pain! Thanks to the entire staff. Truly. Teeth pain is NO joke. I am SO grateful.

Was referred to this place by my dentist. When I called the receptionist was unfriendly and she sounded unhappy like she does like her job

Had the worst experience extracting a tooth, when they began the process after inserting an IV before sedation I felt very faint and like I was going to pass out and the dr proceeded to Pat my hand roughly where my needle was placed and put the chair all the way back then forwards, Pat me once more and tell me 'you'll be fine'. The staff and dr lacks any remorse at the pain or situation your in. I was overly sedated to the point where, according to whom picked me up afterwards I was in a wheelchair completely sedated, incoherent, not even awake. I was not conscious until about 3-4 hours after I got home. Worst dental experience of my life, do not recommend going here at all.

I took my brother (who is 53 years old w/ downs syndrome) he had to get quite a bit of work done. The front office staff was Great and they all assisted in making sure I understood his ins as well as made sure I understood. My brother is terrified of the lights so he start getting inpatient and acting out a little, however Dr. Rogers and his assistant was patient with him and was able to keep him calm. I really appreciate everything they have done for him thus far.

This is a little late.... By little, I mean it has been over 6 years since I first visited Dr. Rogers. I went in to have all of my wisdom teeth removed. I remember I had some concerns about the procedure itself as well as anesthesia since I had never had surgery before. I appreciated the professionalism of the staff and the doctor as well as their knowledge. I remember the doctor started giving me the anesthesia and asking me questions about school until I woke up about 45 min-1 hour later...It was all over! I had healed within 4-5 days based on the thorough instructions and medications given by the doctor. Although I live on the West Coast, if I have to do any future oral surgery, I am flying back to GA just to have him operate. I highly recommend this oral surgeon out of everyone I researched in the area.

Very bad experience here. Entire staff (nurses and front desk people) are unprofessional and rude. They were quick to gang up and snap at you without listening. Early in the morning. If you don't like your job, quit! Don't bring your miserableness into a business facility and take it out on patients. I understand people have bad days but the rudeness carried over for the second visit. Therefore, its not just a "bad day," its just their attitude, period. Patient said the nurses hurt her with the IV insertion and blood poured out her hand. Nurses did not mention it to parent (only found out because she was crying in the car). Whatever heart monitor node they put on her chest got yanked off, because skin was clearly missing in the area. If it doesn't heal well, I will have to give this place a call and file some type of report. Bad experience. First impressions on people have a huge impact on their thoughts and experience. Glad its over cause I definitely won't be coming back. I try to support Black businesses, but this ain't it.

I being try to make a appointment and the three times I had some one in the phone are so rude. The first time I called a lady answer and said that they were at lunch and will be back at 12:30. When I called back at 12:40; they said that to call back in an hour since they still were at lunch.

This place is terrible. I got my wisdom teeth removed here and have all the symptoms of an infection. I called to schedule an appointment and all I'm being told is that they will call back. They're incredibly rude except two girlA. Everyone just is rude. I've called and they keep saying they have patients in front of me but I called over an hour ago. This is RIDICULOUS!!!

Coming from a teenager: I was extremely nervous and scared to get my wisdom teeth out, Ive never been sedated and had an IV ever in me before. My consolation was fast and easy, I was lucky to have my insurance cover almost all of the cost. I did receive a letter in the mail that at first, the surgery was rejected and the insurance would not pay it so I called the office and they said they already fixed it and it would get covered, I loved the fact that they saw it got rejected and went ahead to forward another letter for the insurance for me. During my surgery I was extremely nervous and scared, the only major thing that hurt was the IV being put in but I kept my eyes closed a majority of the time. My doctor came in and I didn't even get to see how he looked like because I was scared to look at the IV on my hand. However, that's the last thing I remembered, later im just being woken up to in the car!! So I would say it was a extremely amazing visit and the staff makes you feel extremely comfortable from the girl at the front desk to everyone:

I went to Dr Rogers almost 6 weeks ago to extract 3 wisdom teeth. 2 of which were impacted. I was hooked on to the monitor to watch my breathing and heart. They gave me an IV and Dr Rogers put some sedation medicine and I was out. So the beginning was fine but what I noticed after was my whole face was numb which I thought was normal. But after 6 weeks I'm still experiencing numbness which I didn't think would last this long. I called the office about a week after my surgery the lady on the phone said that she would call back to check on me to make sure my numbness had gone away but I never received a call . I went to Rogers to support black owned businesses but I see now that that might have been a mistake. You should never over medicate a patient to the point where they are still experiencing numbness 6 weeks later. It doesn't take that much to numb a patient. I hope my review will not only educate other patients but Dr Rogers and staff going forward. If I knew that I was going to continue to be numb I just would've left my teeth alone or gone to another dentist that knew better. My kids got their wisdom teeth taken out from another dentist and they were only numb for a few hours. Do better Dr Rogers remember you took an oath.
