A longtime resident of Montgomery County, Dr. Tong graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery with his D.D.S. degree, after receiving his Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Dr. Tong is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a gentle and comfortable manner. He attends extensive seminars, workshops, and lectures to stay on top of the latest dental techniques and materials available in modern dentistry. He obtained advanced training at the world renowned Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies. In June 2012, he was awarded the Mastership of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). Less than 2% of all general dentists in the United States and Canada have received this honor with the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). This commitment to excellence allows him to utilize the newest proven techniques to maintain the best dental care for his patients.
Our Office Manager Mara is a mother of three, a youngest sister, and an auntie. Born in Olney, raised in Frederick, and currently resided in Germantown, she enjoys weekends that include family outings, playing Scrabble and other group games with friends and of course as a true Marylander, eating crabs. If you have a second to chat, you'll find Mara to be a resource for delicious recipes.
She's a great fit for Dr. Tong's office because she has over fifteen years dental office experience. She has received many certificates for continued education coursework including Financial Effectiveness, Dental Coding, Invisalign, and OSHA/HIPAA Compliance. She possesses a strong commitment to providing quality customer service with a Rockville smile, of course!
Shes a mother of two beautiful children, loves cooking authentic Colombian meals, and has a passion for fashion, makeup and cosmetology. She is one of our most enthusiastic and driven staff; be sure to stop by and say hello!
A Tennessee native with deep southern roots, Kelly began her career in dentistry in 1981 when she became a certified dental assistant. After 17 years of dental assisting, she decided to expand her commitment to dentistry by becoming a dental hygienist. She graduated fromAlleghany Collegedental hygiene program in 1998. Since then she has been providing outstanding care to all of her patients. She is a member of the Maryland Dental Hygiene Association and the Montgomery County Dental Hygiene Association.
Kelly enjoys spending time with her daughter Katie and grandchildren Saki the chihuahua and Sushi the tabby cat! She also enjoys kayaking, bird watching, and travel. As a true southerner, she will make you feel right at home.
Hai is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Montgomery County Dental Hygiene Association. She has received advanced training and certification to administer local anesthetics. She thoroughly enjoys caring for patients and building a dental and personal relationship with them.
She has been happily married to Khai and has a very handsome son named Aaron. She enjoys music a great deal, likes cooking, and loves spending time with her family. She is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Dr Tong and staff are very professional and friendly. I have been going for my dental cleaning and any teeth issues since 2005 and never regretted any time. He has the most recent technology you can ever have for dental work.

Oooof, I should've listened to the reviews noting the rude office manager's behavior, as well Dr. Tongs lack of professionalism. We had just moved to the area, they had plenty of appts available so I went ahead and booked.. I thought it would be a basic and standard visit. What could possibly go wrong? I have been a registered nurse for almost two decades, know exactly how patients should be treated, and what professional and respectful communication looks like between a healthcare provider and a patient. I arrived to my appt, and the office manager proceeded to scold me for being 5 minutes late, and was abrasive in her communication. She stated she couldn't find me in the system. I spelled out my name for her, she found me, then she proceeded to blame me for poor penmanship. I did not engage with her any further. When I was taken back to a room, i was examined and diagnosed with some cavities. Dr. Tong stated he could fit me into his schedule, and agreed to fill them. At the end of our appt, I gave him feedback on the manager's poor behavior. I shared exactly what she'd said to me, along with her rude and abrasive attitude and tone. I asked him to address her behavior. I stated I did not feel comfortable returning if it was not addressed.. He agreed to address it. Based on his response, I scheduled an appt to have my cavities filled. He also referred me to an orthodontist for Invisalign. I had my cavities filled, and the visit was unremarkable. This past week I called to schedule an appt with Dr. Tong per my orthodontist. I spoke to the office manager, scheduled an appt, and asked if she needed anything further from me for my upcoming appt (x-rays from the orthodontist, etc). She seemed confused and annoyed and did not answer my question. I asked the same question again, and explained my inquiry in detail. She cut me off, and stated Dr. Tong would call me back. He called me back, and stated I should seek care from another dentist that could meet my veneer needs. That is all he said. Today I received a letter that states, "Effective today I will no longer be your dentist due to your poor communication and dissatisfaction with my staff." The level of pettiness and unprofessionalism it takes to write a letter like that on your professional letterhead, and take the effort to mail it to a patient is nothing short of astounding. Whether it's the office manager that wrote it, or Dr. Tong himself, does not matter. What matters is that it was deemed appropriate communication to send to a patient, and was sent after our relationship had already ended. Any practitioner that allows his office staff to behave so rudely and unprofessionally toward patients with impunity, is not a business I want to support. Also, taking feedback from patients in healthcare is the norm. Patients should always feel empowered to share feedback, and the provider listening to and addressing concerns only improves the practice. I have since visited another dentist who sent a patient survey immediately after my visit, asking for my feedback. Her front desk staff is warm and engaging, and I feel grateful to have changed dentists.

The office staff is good about calling you regarding appointments and they will put you on a waitlist if you'd like to get in sooner. The hygienists are friendly and thorough. Dr. Tong is very nice and professional. There is parking in the garage connected to the building behind the office and they will validate for you.

Dr. Tong is the best doctor I have ever met. He is skilled, patient, and always considerate of his patients. Unlike the doctors I have seen before who only know how to make patients pay more. Ms.Hai, who is in charge of teeth cleaning, is very kind and helpful, and she washes teeth very cleanly and without pain. I was very lucky to know them and their kindness made me love going to see the dentist:) God bless them!!!
