Dr. Andrew Horng is a pediatric dentist practicing in Rockville, MD. A resident of Montgomery County for over twenty years, he attended the International Baccalaureate Program at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD. After graduating from the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor of Science Degree and High Honors in Physiology and Neurobiology, he went on to attend the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland at Baltimore, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree. Dr. Horng completed a two year general dentistry residency program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a two year pediatric dental residency program at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland at Baltimore.
Practicing dentistry since 2001, Dr. Horng began his career treating pediatric patients in private dental practices in Ellicott City, Maryland and York, Pennsylvania. He continues to treat patients at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where he has been a clinical instructor since 2005.
Dr. Horng is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and an active participant in professional dental associations. He serves on the executive committees of the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Maryland State Dental Association for new members, and the Chinese Dental Study Club. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Southern Maryland Dental Society.
An active volunteer and community service provider, Dr. Horng enjoys working with the public and the underprivileged. Past volunteer experiences include participating with the Operation Smile Dental Mission in Vietnam, the Indian Health Service Dental Mission in Arizona, and the En Chu Kong Hospital Dental Clinic in Taiwan. When the office schedule permits, Dr. Horng becomes active in the local community, providing dental health presentations to daycare centers, elementary and nursery schools.

The clinic environment is very good. The attitude of the nurse and the front desk is also very good, but the doctor is very unfriendly. As a children's dentist, he is impatient with children, has a bad attitude and doesn't answer any questions. This doctor is not suitable for treating children

We've belonged to this practice for 29 years (With now retired Dr. Kawabata as well, who is now retired) and highly recommend it. Dr. Horng is an exceptional dentist and the staff is amazing! They all give particularly compassionate care, patience and attention to my special needs son.

The experience at Rockville Pediatric Dental is unmatched! Dr Horng, the hygienists, and the assistants all provide high quality care, and a sense of family that patients feel when coming back to the office. All the staff take the time to adequately explain proper oral hygiene care and other procedures, and answer any questions that parents or patients have. Children are comforted by the welcoming staff, Disney + on the TV's above every procedure chair, and the variety of toys/balloons the office has to offer! As a former assistant at RPD, now pursuing a Master's in Dental Hygiene at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, everything I have learned and experienced from Dr. Horng is unforgettable. All the skills I have developed from the office, will assist me in my future career. Dr. Horng not only takes the time to provide quality care to his patients, but he also supports his staff to the best of his ability by providing life and career advice, and networking connections to help each one of us advance our careers! The quality of care patients receive at this office is what makes them keep coming back. Dr. Horng and the staff have great relationships with the families that come to the office. The front desk is warm and welcoming. The Hygienists are great, they really take the time to explain to each patient about good oral hygiene habits. The clinical staff makes the visit comfortable for children. The team as a whole knows how to adapt to each patient's needs. Overall I would recommend this office to anyone in the area!

As someone who worked in Dr. Horng's office over the past year and is going to attend the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, I am absolutely certain that Dr. Horng is arguably one of the best and most competent pediatric dentists. I observed how Dr. Horng interacted with his young patients, put them at ease, and explained to them about treatments they were undergoing so as to build rapport with them. For instance, I remember that a patient who had an unpleasant experience with dental work at another office came in with a fearful look. With the exchange of casual conversation with the patient, Dr. Horng gleaned information that the patient likes spaceships and allayed his fear accordingly. Dr. Horng likened the nasal hood for the laughing gas to the respirator mask for astronauts prior to putting it on the patient's nose. His conversation turned out to be so effective that I was surprised, and the entire procedure went smoothly as the patient remained calm. I admire the way he delivers quality care to his patients all the time. Overall, it was a truly rewarding experience working in his office!

We had a wonderful experience at Rockville Pediatric Dental with my almost 4 year old daughter. The staff knew exactly how to ease anxiety for little ones and they were so warm and friendly. I especially appreciated how the hygienist and Dr. Horng told my daughter what they were doing as they were doing it (or even beforehand), which should be common practice (but isn't). This respect and communication is exactly what I look for in a health care provider: My daughter left with a prize, balloon, a big smile and was very proud of how brave she was. :)

Great staff all around! My son is on the autism spectrum and has had struggles with dentists in the past, but the all staff at Rockville Pediatric are patient and make the experience a positive one every time!

I would highly recommend this practice for children! The office has TVs on the ceiling with Disney Plus, which is great for younger kids to watch during their appointments. In addition, Dr. Horng is very knowledgeable about pediatric dentistry and is willing to answer any questions or concerns. Also, the front desk staff, dental hygienists, and dental assistants are very friendly and welcoming and they all work efficiently to treat patients.

My daughter has been coming to Dr. Horng since she had teeth and he will remain her dentist. He us absolutely amazing. We moved 45 minutes aways and I wouldn't dare change to someplace closer. He is home for her teeth.

I gave my review more than a year ago and is now gone.... terrible experience here with the dentist, he is knowledgeable but lacks manners. He is not friendly with kids and doesn't have patience at all. My kids age 9 and 3 who are well behaved had terrible experiences with him. Going to the dentist is hard already and he denefenetly doesn't make it any easier for the children or parents. I went to All Star Pediatrics after here and my children LOVE that place.
