Dr. Evan Cohen, our Orthodontist, grew up in Rockaway and has lived here for over 30 years. He went to PS 114Q for elementary school and graduated from Leon M. Goldstein High School. Dr. Cohen loves Rockaway - since his first day of dental school, he knew that starting his own office here was an eventuality. Rockaway Beach Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry is his vision, and his goal is to serve his community by providing the best care possible. RBOPD breaks away from the emerging model of assembly line franchised healthcare, and is a traditional family-run office where every patient is treated with dignity and respect.
Dr. Cohen received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Stony Brook University and graduated with Cum Laude Degree Honors. After college, Dr. Cohen moved to Boston and completed his dental education at Boston University School of Dental Medicine where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree. Dr. Cohen was inducted into the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon for his outstanding performance throughout his dental education.
Dr. Cohen then swapped the coast for the mountains and moved to Denver where he completed specialty training in Orthodontics at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. While completing his specialty training in Orthodontics, Dr. Cohen also earned his Master of Science Degree for his research in enamel demineralization and discoloration during orthodontic treatment.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, is an active American Association of Orthodontists member, and is certified in BLS and CPR by the American Heart Association. Dr. Cohen is certified to provide Invisalign treatment for adults and teens, and his goal is for his patients, of all ages, to have positive and fun experiences at the Orthodontist. In his free time, he enjoys camping and going to the beach.
Dr. Michelle Goldstein, our Pediatric Dentist, grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts. She moved to Rockaway in 2014 and has lived here ever since. Drs. Cohen and Goldstein met in dental school and got married after completing their respective specialty training.
Dr. Michelle, as she prefers her patients to call her, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Brandeis University and completed her dental education at Boston University School of Dental Medicine where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree. In recognition of her outstanding performance throughout her dental education, she was awarded the 2012 Academic Excellence Award at Boston University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Michelle then left Massachusetts for New York in order to complete specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry. Throughout her post-graduate education, Dr. Michelle developed a love of outreach dentistry and has traveled both internationally and domestically to provide dental care to children in need. In addition, Dr. Michelle is currently clinical faculty in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry where she trains future generations of Pediatric Dentists.
She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, is an active American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry member, and is certified in CPR and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) by the American Heart Association. Dr. Michelles goal is for every child to have positive and fun experiences at the dentist. In her free time, she enjoys Barre and going to the beach.
Stacy, our Head Dental Assistant, is likely to be your childs best friend at Rockaway Beach Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. Her bright smile and good vibes will always put children at ease. Stacy has several years of experience assisting both Pediatric Dentists and Orthodontists, and her caring nature always shines through when she works. In addition, she is certified in BLS and CPR by the American Heart Association.
Daphne, the Goldendoodle, was born on July 4, 2018 and has lived in Rockaway since September 2018. If youre here on the right day, youll see her around the office taking it easy and getting belly rubs. And if youre really lucky, youll get to see Dr. Michelle brush Daphnes teeth with her favorite chicken-flavored toothpaste. In her free time, Daphne enjoys long walks on the beach with her parents, Drs. Cohen and Goldstein.

This place is amazing. The office is brand new and sparkling clean. Took my 5 year old son here for his first dentist visit ever and didn't know what to expect. He had the most wonderful experience from start to finish. Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Cohen were both super friendly and gentle. They gave him cool sunglasses to wear. He actually would up having a bad cavity and need the tooth pulled :( We came back and the whole thing went so smoothly and my son did great. I highly recommend Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Cohen to anyone looking for a dentist or orthodontist for their kids. Thanks for making my son's seemingly harrowing experience so wonderful!

Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Cohen were absolutely amazing with my 5 year old. They, along with their staff, went above and beyond for our family. When my son finished his first visit, he exclaimed that he "loved going to the dentist!" They are clearly experts in their field and speak to children with tenderness and respect. The office was immaculate and my son absolutely loved the waiting room: filled with toys and video games!

My 9yr old now enjoys going to the dentist all thanks to Dr.Michelle and Dr.Cohen. They were so kind and gentle. My son walked out with a big smile. The office is beautiful and the staff is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend to anyone in need of a pediatric dentist or orthodontist in Rockaway.

I'm 35 years old and used to have VERY crooked teeth. I was skeptical that someone my age could get their teeth straightened. But Dr. Cohen is an absolute MASTER at what he does and got my teeth straight using clear braces. I don't typically leave reviews, but my experience at this office was so good that I felt compelled to. I would leave 10 stars if I could!

Dr. Cohen is fantastic!! His office is modern, staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, and Dr. Cohen was so patient and friendly for my son! Dr. Michelle and the staff at this practice were very welcoming, knowledgeable, and warm to our 2.5 year old. They made him feel at ease, and made the experience enjoyable for him. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with children.

I've never written a review before, but here I am writing because of my experience this afternoon. My 4-year-old son recently had a bad time getting shots at the doctor, and he was frightened about going back to any doctor. Dr. Michelle and Stacy really helped to get him to feel at ease. They showed him the tools they would be using, let him smell the chocolate toothpaste, and let him feel the spinning toothbrush on his finger. The office is bright and clean and my son got to watch his favorite Netflix show during his cleaning. So glad to have this office here in Rockaway.

We took our 2 kids to Dr. Michele yesterday and the experience was AMAZING! I normally don't write reviews but we had such a great visit that we feel compelled to post. We woke up feeling a sense of doom taking them to the dentist. That all changed once we entered the brand new office. All of the staff were kind and patient and not one tear from either child. They actually didn't want to leave and my son asked if he could go back to the dentist today. I HIGHLY recommend giving them a try - you won't be disappointed!
