You are fresh out of the U.S. Navy after serving in satellite communications in the Middle East and on a destroyer off the coast of Japan. What can you do next to replace the activity of a sailors life? How about take up dentistry? That was the decision of Dr. Erik Matson, Auburn dentist with Rock Creek Dental.
Dr. Matson became a navy recruit fresh out of high school at the age of eighteen. After serving on shore in the Middle East, he was transferred to one of the last Spruance-class destroyers in the naval fleet, stationed in Japan. There he was trained for ocean rescue operations. After six years of service, with the end of his second stint in the navy, the future dentist took advantage of veteran education programs to study Human Biology at the junior college level and then at the University of California, San Diego.
While at UCSD, Dr. Matson noted that it was difficult to receive the services veterans were entitled to as university students. He helped form a student veteran organization that advocated for all veterans on campus. The notoriety of his role in leading this group led to his inclusion in local campaign appearances for Senator John McCain during the politicians presidential run.
After his undergraduate studies were completed, Dr. Matson enrolled in the first dental program at Western University. His grandfather had served as a dentist in Sacramento and recommended the career. Dr. Matson now focuses on helping Auburn residents fight the two largest problems he sees in our office: periodontal disease and tooth decay.
As for military veterans, Dr. Matson helped organize a Veterans Appreciation Day at a dental office in Sacramento. Through this volunteer work, he is continuing his life of community service, started in the U.S. Navy.

The best dentist in Auburn. Many kudos to Dr. Madson and his staff for being the professionals they are. His staff are truly caring, friendly and have your best interest at heart. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Madson and his staff at a time in my life that I needed a true professional to handle my dental needs. I highly recommend his office for all your dental needs. He is very down to earth and a true pleasure to have as my dentist.

Dr. Matson is very meticulous and did an excellent job on on my bridge work. He and his staff are very professional and pleasant. I highly recommend him to anyone that wants an honest, extremely competent dentist.

Dr. Matson was referred to me by my brother-in-law during a cosmetic dental crisis. Dr. Fit me in right away. I drove from Elk Grove to his beautiful office in Auburn, and was greeted by the warm staff at Rock Creek (everyone was very pleasant and sincere), and was offered a variety of refreshments. I noticed good music playing as I was led to the exam room. Wow! Everything is new and immaculate!! Any nervousness that I was feeling about my procedure, was completely eased after meeting Dr. Matson. He is truly a professional, and a perfectionist at his craft. Dr. explained the process in detail, and achieved incredible results (2nd time replacing front veneer in 20 years). After the service that I received at Rock Creek Dental, there is no other dentist that I would trust my families smiles with. Completely worth the drive! Rock Creek is truly the best!!

This place Rocks! I had a crown fixed, and they made it right there. This was extremely convenient, and is usually a process that takes weeks. Erik was able to finish the tooth in same visit because of his fancy equipment. I hate the dentist, but they managed to make the experience easy and almost pain free.
