Patient-Centered Approach to Orthodontic Treatment Most orthodontic practices have only one type of bracket system that they employ, and the patients needs and demands must fit into that offices systems and approach. At Robinson and Ries Orthodontics, we have mastered various systems that allow for apatient-centered approach to treatment. A few examples of the systems our doctors use include Invisalign Clear Trays, Damon low friction self-ligating braces, 3M clear ceramic aesthetic braces, Titanium (Nickel Free) Orthos brackets, Herbst and Forsus overbite correctors, and both Bonded and Banded palatal expanders. Our knowledge and skill with various systems will allow us to trulycustomize treatment to your needs.
If the length of orthodontic treatment is the most important factor for you, we can customize your plan to include additional techniques such as AcceleDent or Propel fortrimming 20-40% off treatment time.
Weuse the very latest orthodontic treatment technology available. For example, our office utilizes the brand new iTero scanner to digitally scan teeth for Invisalign. This means ourInvisalign patients dont have to do impressions, and we can virtually show them what their smiles will look like at the end of treatment!
Ask any hygienist, and they will tell you that Robinson and Ries Orthodontics fixed retainers are theeasiest to clean and maintain good oral hygiene. We are theonly office in town that places easily cleanable lower bonded fixed retainers after treatment. Our custom fixed retainers are permanently bonded to only the lower canine teeth, but custom adapted, not bonded, to the remaining teeth. Thus, easy to floss and NO Floss threaders. (However, if you dont want a fixed retainer we have removable options as well YOUR Choice!)

In July of 2011, Dave Ries, D.D.S., M.S. joined the Robinson Orthodontics team. Like Dr. Robinson, Dr. Ries is an alumnus of the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he completed his residency and earned an M.S. in Oral Biology. Dr. Ries graduated with his D.D.S. summa cum laude, and scored highest in his class on the American Board of Orthodontics exam. During his studies, Dr. Ries also second authored articles published in the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants and Angle Orthodontics.
Dr. Ries is a member of the ADA and the AAO. He is committed to excellence in clinical practice and keeping current with the latest advances in orthodontic care. But just as importantly, he is genuine and truly invests himself in each and every patient. Dr. Ries addresses patient needs individuallywith the orthodontic technologies and treatment plans that are most likely to lead to the best outcomes. That means a balanced facial structure, healthy tooth alignment, and a lifetime of beautiful smiles.
Dr. Ries earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University on football and basketball scholarships and subsequently worked as a consultant for Accenture Technology. After a few years and far too many hours in front of a computer, he decided to apply his love for science, structure, and aesthetics to people and pursue a career in orthodontics. Prior to joining Robinson Orthodontics, he worked alongside his uncle and cousin in an orthodontic practice in Texas. In July of 2011, Dr. Ries and his family relocated to Columbia. Dr. Ries and his wife Jen have three children, Rory, Avery, and Everett.
Dr. Ries is committed to charities that support local children. This is why he has served as the fundraiser event title sponsor for Rainbow House, Coyote Hill, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He also is a supporter of the Columbia Food Bank, Welcome Home Vets, and Mobility Worldwide, just to name a few.

Ruined my daughter's beautiful smile. Dr. Robinson did not care about long term results and took the easiest way out for him. We went to him because her teeth protruded with slight gaps like you'd see in a lot of kids and the dentist suggested we go to him. He sent her to oral surgeon to have 2 teeth removed (told me they were baby teeth but they had roots and would have been fine). This made it easier for him to straighten the teeth but without these two teeth her teeth no longer merged resulting in her molars wearing flat from wear which was not caught before the damage was done. She is a beautiful person but her smile is simply not nearly as full and gorgeous as it could have been. I think that he assumed (without asking) that we didn't have enough money to pay because I was a single Mom, but we paid upfront and would gladly have paid more or whatever necessary. I am heart broken about ever taking her to him. Dr. Robinson reassured us that it would not affect her smile but it did and it damaged all her molars. Another orthodontist suggested we not have the teeth taken out and I wish to heck I'd known and fully understood how the loos of those two teeth found affect the end result. Now she will have a lifetime of dental issues from those worn molars.

I highly recommend Robinson and Ries Ortho! I have 2 kiddos in braces w them, and they are extremely professional, and it's a comfortable environment for their services. They are understanding of schedule changes, and are always responsive w any questions or concerns. The original consultation is educational, and they explain the available options for each child. Best of all, my kiddo's teeth are looking amazing! Can't say enough good things!!

After 8 weeks of Invisalign treatment, I noticed my gum tissue between my front teeth was protruding out, due to my gap closing. Of course, this happened a week before my wedding!! In a panic, I called the Robinson and Ries office and they got me in the next day to perform a procedure to remove the extra gum tissue! Thank you Robinson and Ries for saving my smile the week before my wedding!

Absolutely loved being a patient here!! When I moved to St. Louis I continued to commute to Columbia because I didn't want to go anywhere else! They made me feel like apart of the family and I will refer any of my friends here! I stare at my teeth all the time in amazement they did such a beautiful job!
