Preventive dentistry and access to care allow our generation to avoid many of the dental problems that were common just decades ago. Today, we are retaining healthy, natural teeth longer than any previous generation. However, only one percent of us avoid a cavity during a lifetime, and crowns are a common dental necessity.

Each tooth in your mouth is comprised of two primary parts: the visible crown and the root below the gums. When it is damaged, the top portion can be completely covered with a restoration. Usually made of metal or porcelain, a restorative dental crown renews a tooths strength and health, and can also relieve pain caused by decay or a deep fracture. Dental crowns may be recommended if:

If you take good care of your oral health and do not damage your crown, e.max crowns can last seven to 15 years (if not longer). CEREC blocks are porcelain cubes of e.max that come in various shades of white. The porcelain used for CEREC blocks underwent two decades of testing and has been proven highly durable. A crown manufactured with CEREC can be expected to last as long as one made in a laboratory.

Invisalign trays are made out of smooth plastic, so they will not hurt your mouthor cause irritation to the soft tissue like braces.Patients who play sports especially may find removable aligners safer and more suited to their lifestyle.

While undergoing Invisaligntreatment, you can continue to enjoy the foods you love without worrying about damaging your orthodontic appliance. Simply remove your aligners while eating, brushing, and flossing, and wear them when you're not.

Patients don'tneed to feel self-conscious about their appearance in clear aligners. It is very difficult to notice if someone is wearing Invisalign in person and nearly impossible to tell in pictures. Once treatment is complete, you can take pride in your newly straightened teeth and confidently show off your smile.

Patients will wear a series of flexible clear aligner trays for 20 to 22 hours a day. As the series progresses, your teeth are gently shifted into the proper position, giving you a stunning smile and a balanced bite.

I have had extensive dental work done by Dr. Orchard. He is a true artist. The staff is amazing and smart and accommodating to your needs. I have never met a staff and Doctor that is this amazing and truly care about their patients. I moved to Colorado and still fly down to Corpus to have any dental work and yearly check ups done.

I have taken my entire family (4 kids) to Dr. Orchard and Dr. Robertson for more than 15 years. We have been pleased with both Drs. and the staff is so very helpful. This is the most professional dental practice I have ever been to. Thanks for everything!

Invisalignis an incredible solution for virtually anyone whose teeth have fully developed. This is marked by the arrival of the second set of permanent molars, which usually happens after age 12. While Invisalign is suitable for patients of all ages, it can be particularly appealing to teenagers who shudder at the thought of braces. If you have concerns that your child may not wear their aligners consistently enough, don't worry. Our Corpus Christi office offers Invisalign Teen, which contains a built-in monitoring feature to track daily wear. Now you can feel confident that you are getting the full value out of treatment while your teen can feel confident in their appearance.

Our Corpus Christi, TX, practice is equipped with the latest dental technology to design and carry outyour treatment. We use the innovative iTero intraoral camera to take digital scans of your teeth with maximum speed and precision.Patients will then be able to see a virtual sneak preview of their results after they complete treatment.

These impressions and other specifications are sent to the Invisalign lab, where technicians craft your custom series of aligners. Once your mouthpieces arrive, we will give you instructions on proper use and maintenance.

You will wear each aligner for about two weeks before replacing it with the next one in the series. Patients should have their trays in place for at least 20-22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, brush, and floss.

Each mouthpiece is molded slightly differently to slowly straighten your teeth into proper alignment. You will return to our office about every six weeks so we can monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments. This may include placing an Invisalign attachment (a small piece of bonding material) to a tooth to increase the predictability of movement.

Depending upon your needs, treatment may last a few months or more than a year. After you have worn the last aligner in the series, we will provide you with a removable retainer to protect your results.

Invisalign Express works similarly to the traditional clear aligners but with fewer trays in the series, cuts down on the treatment time. The Express system is best for cases of minor misalignment, or for patients who have relapsed from a previous orthodontic treatment.

Invisalign Express will only target teeth that are rotated or crooked and will not address issues with your bite. However, if you do qualify for treatment, you will typically see your results in less than six months' time.

While it is impossible to give you an exact estimate without first examining your smile, Invisalign is typically just as affordable as traditional orthodontics. Some insurance providers even cover parts of your treatment costs depending on your plan. We also accept financing through CareCredit. Our Corpus Christi office will work directly with you to coordinate a payment plan that works within your budget so you can enjoy all the benefits of a straight, healthy smile.

A veneer is a thin, custom-made porcelain shell attached to the front surface of a tooth. Porcelain veneers conceal intrinsic stains, misshapen teeth, and more to enhance the overall look of your smile.

Traditionally, veneers take one to two weeks, but we can offer the same high-quality results in a fraction of the time with chairside laminates, also known as same-day veneers. Our Corpus Christi dental office is equipped with the state-of-the-art CEREC system that manufactures your custom porcelain restorations in less than an hour. Using CAD/CAM technology (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing), we will design your veneers before your eyes on our chairside monitor and send the blueprints right to the in-house milling machine. Same-day veneers are best suited for treating a few teeth or less. If you are considering more comprehensive enhancement, we may recommend traditional porcelain veneers. Nonetheless, chairside laminates are a wonderfully convenient way for our patients withbusy schedules to make the time for cosmetic dentistry.

In order to place a veneer, our dentist must remove a small layer of tooth enamel. If you do not have adequate enamel density in order to support a dental veneer, we can suggest an alternative treatment such as composite resin.

It is important to understand that dental veneers require a permanent change to the tooth structure. The best candidates are committed to proper care and the occasional replacement about every 15 years.

Next, we will remove a small layer of tooth enamel to make room for your veneers. If you are particularly nervous or have sensitive teeth, we can provide nitrous oxide to help you stay calm and relaxed while we work.

Using our high-tech Itero intraoral scanner, the dentist takes digital impressions of your teeth to design your restorations. In the meantime, we will provide you with temporary veneers to wear until your custom restorations are ready.

The designs are sent to our trusted dental lab where technicians construct the veneers. The porcelain is carefully chosen to match your natural enamel and fit precisely on the surface of the teeth. We use IPS e.max for the highest-quality results.

Once the veneers are complete, you will return to our office to have them placed. We will check the look and fit of the veneers and make any adjustments to ensure your satisfaction. Finally, the veneers are bonded to the front of each treated tooth with special dental cement.

Veneers are easy to maintain and require much of the same care as your natural teeth. Simply practice good dental hygiene by brushing with a non-abrasive toothpaste at least twice per day and flossing once a day. Avoid biting anything particularly hard or sticky such as caramels or ice cubes, and be mindful about grinding your teeth. We can recommend an oral appliance to protect your smile, if needed. Along with regular cleanings and exams, these habits can help you get the most out of your investment for years to come.

'Dr. Orchard treats his patients with the utmost care and attention. His true commitment to giving his patients the best care is evident and greatly appreciated. Along with his wonderful staff, all are quick to answer any questions and always try to accommodate any needs.'
