Orthodontics allows me to contribute to peoples well-being, by improving their appearance, self-esteem, and oral health. I appreciate the uniqueness of each patients situation and the challenges that presents as I design the treatment approach thats right for the person.
I have chosen to remain a solo orthodontic practice, and dedicated to providing the most advanced treatment in a caring and comfortable setting. I personally see and direct everypatients treatment and keep them and their parents informed of the progress were making.

I enjoy watching our patients change during treatment, especially those who start with low self-esteem. Its amazing how changing a smile can bring someone out of their shell! I assist Dr. Muirhead with different orthodontic procedures, and always makesure our patient is comfortable and understands what were doing. I also help with lab work and sterilize our equipment and treatment areas.
My husband Mat and I were married in 2010. We have two kids: a girl named Sloan and a boy named Hayes. We also have pygmy goats. In addition to being a certified dental assistant, I attended Sam Houston State University and studied music.
I really like watching our patients smiles change and, at the same time, seeing each persons confidence grow. Because I meet patients at the start of treatment, I am able to see the whole of their transformation ...and celebrate their finished smile! I assist new patients and families, from their initial call through their new patient exam. Then I explain their treatment plan, payment options, and set up everything so theyre ready to start changing their smile.
I look forward to each patients visits, becausethats when I see the progress theyre making and how much more confident theyre becoming. Changing a smile really changes a persons life;they feel better about their appearance and theyre more outgoing and comfortable around others. I seat patients, explain what well be doing, and assist Dr. Muirhead with treatment. I also sterilize the treatment area and our tools and equipment.
I like meeting new and interesting people. Its fun to get to know patients and families during treatment and watch the changes in someones personality and appearance as westraighten their teeth. I work with patients and parents on financial aspects of orthodontics. In addition to preparing and executing financial contracts, I also handle all insurance matters, including filing and follow-up, so patients are able to maximize their benefits.
When Im not working, I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, NASCAR, and time with loved ones. Ive been married for 30 years and have an adult daughter who lives in San Antonio. I also have five dogs (three are rescues) and two rescued cats.
For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.
When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.
Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.
