From a young age, Raleigh dentist Dr. Robert Orander remembers being captivated with science. Dentistry ultimately won out as his chosen profession, because it gives him the opportunity to work with his hands and provide healthcare treatment that offers immediate, tangible results.
Dr. Orander grew up in the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina before his family moved to Raleigh. Utilizing other childhood interests, he worked his way through college and dental school performing magic and making balloon animals.
He earned a bachelors degree in zoology from NC State University, and in 1987, Dr. Orander earned his D.D.S. degree from the University Of North Carolina School Of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. He then enrolled in the inaugural class of the Advanced Education General Dentistry Residency at the UNC School of Dentistry to receive additional post-doctoral training.
Following completion of his Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, Dr. Orander returned to Raleigh to join a group dental practice. After a few years associating in this group setting, Dr. Orander opened his own office in 1992 and has thrived as a successful solo practitioner since then. His office was voted Cary Magazines 2010 Readers Choice Dentist.

Angie has been a member of our team since June 2003. Her duties include providing preventive dental hygiene care and periodontal treatment, as well as, oral hygiene instruction and oral cancer screenings.
She graduated from Indiana University in 1991 with Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. Angie loves getting to know our patients and she gets excited about seeing our patients dental health improve. She also enjoys seeing the positive results of restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Angie moved to North Carolina in 1995. She is married and has twins a son and a daughter. When she isnt working, she enjoys time spent with her family, as well as traveling, hiking, kayaking, working in her yard, playing golf, reading and being a hockey mom.
Gabbie graduated from Wake Technical Community Colleges Dental Assisting Program and completed National Boards in 2009. She began her career in pediatric dentistry which taught her that extra patience paired with a gentle touch can make a world of difference in your overall experience!
Gabbie is thrilled to be the newest member of our Raleigh dental practice! Her current goals are to cross-train from clinical to clerical duties as well to better serve our team and family of patients individual needs.
Outside of the office, she can be found chatting with loved ones, cooking with her husband, and chasing tennis balls at the bark park with her retriever, Tuff! Gabbie is an active volunteer with North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance, American Red Cross and Salvation Army Center of Hope.
Beth was born and raised in Raleigh. She attended UNC-Greensboro, Queens College and NCSU. She was brought into dentistry through family and has grown to love all aspects of it. She now resides in Clayton, NC with her 2 children and several pets. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, sewing, watching movies and kayaking. When she can she travels to the beach or mountains with family.

The entire office is friendly and welcoming. Dr Orlander is one of the best dentists I have ever been to! He goes out of his way to explain everything he is doing and why, as well as what he doesn't need to do. My husband and I are so glad we found him and would highly recommend him!

Could you ever say that you like going to the dentist? The staff is super kind, patient and gentle. Dr Orander explains everything he is doing and what to expect. Super conservative, meaning he'll do everything possible to save the tooth and not damage the existing structure. His referrals are top notch doctors as well. I cannot express how happy I am with the services I have received here, going on 4 years now. Thank you and your staff!!

I am so grateful to Dr. Orander and his fantastic dental hygienists (Angie & Gabbie) for their expert, kind, and compassionate treatment. They absolutely are the best in their field. I've gone from being a terrified mess at the mere thought of going to the dentist, to actually looking forward to seeing these wonderful people that have guided me to dental health.

On Friday an existing crown in my mouth cracked. We are heading to Arizona in a few days, so my beloved guided me through my own dentist's process for emergency dental work. I ended up calling Dr. Orander, who was on call, on Friday after 10 p.m. He called me back in less than 10 minutes and sounded wide awake, incredibly friendly and undisturbed by the late call. Dr. Orander said that he would see me on Saturday, but because he did not have any staff, it would have to wait until Monday - but he would definitely be able to see me on Monday (at 7 a.m. or 9 a.m.). He said he would call back the next day confirming the time; that if I did not hear from him by Sunday to call him back. Before I was even awake the next morning, Dr. Orander (still sounding incredibly friendly and unperturbed) had left a voicemail telling me my own dentist had a 9 a.m. opening on Monday and although he would happily see me himself, it would make more sense (and be more cost-effective) for me to see my own dentist. Although he did not make the request, I decided to write a review because of the excellent customer service and superior bed-side manner. Dr. Orander's patients are very fortunate to have such a caring, thoughtful professional working for them.

Awesome, Dr. Orander has taught at the UNC-CH Dental School and he is always wishing to educate me on wellness topics related to oral health. His staff have been with the practice for a long time and they are cheerful, professional and pleasant. I like that all staff are on time, cordial, professional and cheerful, with a focus on my dental care and on me as a patient.

You'll never need to look for another dentist after visiting Dr. Robert Orander's office. I know it sounds like a cliche, but it really isn't.. He is a caring dentist w/ gentle hands. This review is long overdue. I apologize for not writing sooner. He removed my fear of going to a dentist since my 1st visit ... Read on.. After moving to the RDU area in 1969, I had been to so many different dentists trying to find one that was a bit more compassionate about being on the other end of a dental needle. I had tried many recommendations f/ friends, family, cohorts, but they all were part of the fast n furious.... always leaving me w/ unbearable pain f/ injections if the procedure called for it. Here it is 1995 and still looking for the right dentist. How I came to hear about Dr. Orander has it's own story, but, once again, I took a recommendation. This time f/ ... a stranger...of all people. But, I was desperate to get away f/ what I call the 'fast n furious.' Get you in and get the job done as quickly as psbl w/o consideration for the pain the patient is going through. Ingrit (sp) was the stranger's name, whom I met while sitting in a whirlpool at a spa. She just so happened to be Dr. Orander's assistant. She raved about how compassionate he is and seems to really understand the pain on the other side of the needle. Well, that sounded good enough, so I decided to try him.... Afterall, I had tried everyone else's recommendation, so, why not? 24 years later, and Dr. Orander is still my dentist. Everything Ingrit said was true. Recently, I had to visit Dr. Orander's office, b/c I had chipped an old filling. After a quick 15-20 mins, the problem was fixed. During a short conversation afterwards, he brought to my attention that I had been his patient for 24 yrs... WOW! was my response. Never would I have thought that I'd want to recognize an anniversary w/ my dentist. So, Dr. Orander, thank you for eliminating my 'dental fear' for 24 years and counting! Respectfully, Brenda M-C

Dr. Orander is the best dentist that I have ever been to! I started going to him when I was 4 years old and no other dentist I went to has ever compared. He is very honest about any issues you may have and has never tried to tell me that I needed something when I really didn't. I have also tried all of the hygenists there and they are all very nice and professional. The only downside? I am not very fond of their receptionist. She can be a bit terse and is not always the friendliest.
