Known throughout the neighborhood as Dr. Bob, Robert L. Cohen, DDS, has served the Sherman Oaks community for over thirty-seven years at his state-of the-art private dental practice. The practice offers comprehensive general dental care, smile makeovers, high-tech dental implants, painless laser dentistry, TMJ disorders and dental sleep medicine in an atmosphere of personalized, compassionate care.
Dr. Cohen is committed to delivering the most advanced dental care while treating each patient as if he or she were a guest in his home. His goal is to provide informed, educated options for patients to receive the dental care and attain the smile that they want for themselves, without imposing a complex treatment plan.
Born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Dr. Cohen graduated from UCLA, obtained a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from the UCLA School of Public Health, earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the New York University College of Dentistry, and completed his residency with a specialty on TMJ at UCLA. He has taught at the USC School of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor, and has been a Visiting Lecturer at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Opening his Sherman Oaks dental practice, Dr. Cohen has always considered himself extremely blessed to be able to help his patients enhance their smiles and oral health with every passing year.
He has a long history of involvement in the local community, where he has held numerous civic offices, including President of the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce and Founding Board Member of the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council. Over the years, he has been recognized with several awards for both his business and volunteer efforts, including: Best Dentist in the Los Angeles Daily News Readers Choice Awards, the California 46th Assembly Districts Small Business of the Year Award and the United Chambers of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award.
Dr. Cohen and his wife Diane live in the Greater Sherman Oaks area with their Golden Labrador Retriever, Riley. They are very proud of their twins, Caitlin and Ryan, recent college graduates. In his free time, Dr. Cohen enjoys sports, music, traveling, photography and family time.
Not only is Dr. Cohen a fantastic dentist but also a great person to know and work with. He is very thorough in his evaluations, treatment planning and the procedures he performs on patients. With over 28 years' experience in the dental field, I guess you could say that I am passionate about dentistry. I was a dental assistant for my first ten years in the profession and learned first-hand how patients should be treated clinically. I have worked in various dental specialties including general dentistry, oral surgery, and periodontics. Since 2017, I have been privileged to work as the practice coordinator in the office of Dr. Cohen and our amazing staff.
I am a mom to several rescue cats and a dog. I am a lover of all animals and practice a vegan lifestyle. My hobbies and passions include baking, bowling, golf, and spending time with my furry family, biped family and friends. I am also certified as an addiction counselor and as a phlebotomist. Throughout my life I have always enjoyed working with and helping people. I hope to be able to help each and every one of you as well.
Laura Schrouder is an accomplished Registered Dental Assistantwith the added certificate in Expanded Functions who has been the clinical right hand of Dr. Cohen for over twenty years. She is a caring and supportive dental professional that helps create, for each patient, a superior atmosphere and exceptional clinical results. No one knows more about how the back office functions in Dr. Cohen's practice than Laura Schrouder.
Since 2008, Eileen has been an essential member of the Cohen Dental Care team. She appreciates the warmth and thoroughness that Dr. Cohen demonstrates, combined with the use of advanced equipment and technology, and extends those same values to her patients. Her primary focus is on periodontal (gum) health and treatment that addresses the unique conditions of each patient, from scaling and root planing to clean and optimize the health of the gums and protective areas to conducting thorough oral exams to check for any unusual lesions and growths to educating patients about the health of their mouth.
With over 20 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist, Eileen is licensed to practice in Nevada as well as California. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from California State University and completed the Dental Hygiene Program at Pasadena City College [when?]. She maintains her continuing education as a member of the Beverly Hills Dental Hygiene Study Club, which presents lectures by the most elite specialists in the region. Outside the office, she loves cooking and entertaining, practicing yoga, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
As a dental hygienist, my goal is to provide state-of-the-art dental hygiene care for all my patients. To help accomplish this goal, I continue to educate myself on the latest techniques and treatments available. I also try to make my patients dental visits as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
I have now been in dentistry for over sixteen years, fourteen of them working for Dr. Cohen. During all that time he has always made the office feel like a family environment. He always encourages growth and passion in the dental field. It is wonderful to know thatDr. Cohen and I share a passion for excellence in caring for our dental patients.
Albina is an Registered Dental Assistant who helps our patients both administratively and clinically. She works hard to be the best dental assistant she can be and challenged herself to earn and receive her California state R.D.A. license. When not helping our patients she is a loving and caring mother to two daughters and her dogs.

Simply the best dentist I've ever been to. Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. An artist as much as a dentist. I've always been skittish about Novocain shots. But Dr. Cohen administers a near pain free shot as I ever experienced. Being a patient here you not only get his considerable skills, but everyone who works there are very friendly and professional.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cohen for many many years, and I will NEVER go to anyone else but him!! He is such a wonderful dentist, he's explains things that need to be done right away for the best of your health and he explains things that can be done in the near future. He's gentle, kind and just a great person over all. His staff is great also, Stefanie, I believe is the accounting manager and she works with you regarding your account. They have been in tbe one location for I don't even know how many years , and the waiting area is nice and cozy!! It's a great place to go!!

I love Dr. Cohen and his staff! He is a very skilled dentist, friendly and thorough. His dental hygienist, Sophia, is great. She does the best cleaning ever! Although I moved away from LA in 2018, he is such a great dentist that I travel from Chicago for my dental work.

Dr. Cohen is amazing!!! I was terrified of the dentist for many years and now I feel so at ease about going after one visit! Just go and you won't regret it. He takes the time to get to know you and your wants regarding your dental health. I definitely will recommend him to my friends and family.

Love this dentist! So far I have only needed basic treatments but they always take the time to listen and check and take care of my every concern! Our entire family goes to Dr. Cohen - the entire staff is very professional and friendly. We previously went to the same practice for more than 30 years, and after the sale we were dissatisfied with the service. Dr. Cohen's office has been a refreshing change in our lives of dentistry. We are very pleased with the work we have had done with him - which has not been small, but actually quite significant. It could not have come at a better time for us - just prior to having this major work done for my son and husband.
