My name is Dr. Robert H. Thornton, and I have been practicing dentistry since 2000. I have studied extensively at the finest post- graduate programs in the world includingOBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistryin Oregon,The Texas Center for Occlusal Studies and Minimally Invasive Dentistry, andThe Schuster Centerin Scottsdale, Arizona. I have learned many wonderful things from all of these teaching institutions, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to have studied with them. Before all of this post graduate education I felt something was missing in what I could offer my patients. It seemed that so many of my patients were suffering from one or more of the symptoms mentioned at the beginning of this letter. All of my solutions seemed to be just band-aids. I found myself, as I had been taught, just treating symptoms and not the realcauseof the symptoms. My quest for knowledge and true answers finally led me to seek out and findOrognathic Bioesthetics Internationalwhere I was taught a philosophy of oral health care calledBioesthetic Dentistry. Finally, and for the first time in my professional career, I found a philosophy of dental health care that was based upon the study of extremely healthy mouths and chewing systems rather than the identification and spot treatment of pathology. I started listening, studying, and learning. Finally, I was convinced that this was the answer for which I had been searching. In 2008, I embarked upon a four year journey to complete all four levels of the Bioesthetic curriculum. I have been practicing Bioesthetic Dentistry ever since, and my patients now enjoy the benefits of a comfortable, healthy chewing system. Their headaches, muscle pain, tension, and soreness have been eliminated. Their teeth no longer wear and their jaw joints are healthy and stable. As many of my patients state Bioesthetic Dentistry gave me my life back! This is powerful and it is the reason that I became a Bioesthetic Dentist-to make a significant difference in the lives of my patients.
