To say that Dr. Robert Horowitz has excelled in his field would be an understatement. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics and Microbiology at Cornell University, and in 1982, he graduated from the Columbia University College of Dental and Oral Surgery. Since that time, Dr. Horowitz has worked nonstop to provide premium dental care to patients in Scarsdale, New York, and the rest of Westchester County.

Dr. Horowitz completed a one-year general practice residency in dentistry, a 2-year residency in Periodontology at the Manhattan VA Hospital and NYU College of Dentistry (1983-1985), and a 2-year residency in Implant Dentistry at the NYU College of Dentistry (1994-1996). After finishing his periodontal and implant dentistry residencies, Dr. Horowitz began working at his current office with his father, who also was a dentist. When his father retired, he took over the practice.

Dr. Horowitz has a passion for the latest in dental technology and has stayed up-to-date on all of the current trends in patient care. He takes continuing education courses weekly, and attends numerous major conferences each year to stay abreast of the latest developments in dentistry. He continues to research and lecture at NYU about the latest dental techniques and has contributed to the fields of microscopic surgery, bone growth factors, bone graft materials, and the optimization of dental implants. He also has years of experience, and has presented on the topic of enhanced orthodontic therapy to his peers. Youre in good hands!

When hes not researching and teaching, Dr. Horowitz loves providing great patient care. He tries to infuse his passion for dentistry, periodontics and implant dentistry, in particular, to his patients, students, and the other dentists he trains and works with around the globe. To him, the most rewarding part of practicing dentistry is seeing the healthy, happy smile of a patient who has completed treatment. Those smiles can turn a persons life around, and thats why he continues to work hard for your care.

His career has been marked by professional development, growth, and research on the newest technologies in the industry. In that time, hes received accolades for his great work. However, Dr. Horowitz says that his best recognition has been the numerous satisfied residents of Scarsdale and Westchester County who are walking around showing off smiles that he helped create.

This was follow by a Bachelors degree in Science from Lehman College in 2006. She is licensed in both NY and CT, and certified to deliver local anesthetics. The periodontic and implant dentistry practice of Robert Horowitz, DDS, follows the American Academy of Periodontology treatment guidelines guidelines stating that periodontal health should be achieved in the least invasive and most cost-effective manner. This often is accomplished through non-surgical periodontal treatment.

Non-surgical periodontal treatments are minimally invasive, producing effective results without requiring the use of scalpels or sutures. Additionally, any required recovery time for non-surgical treatments is minimal. The goal of these treatments is to reduce the number of harmful bacteria in your mouth and promote healing in your gum tissues. Our periodontist also uses the latest technologies and techniques, including water laser technology, to ensure that these treatments are high-quality and meet your needs.

We perform a thorough and meticulous cleaning that includes scaling to remove plaque and tartar deposits above and beneath the gum line. This procedure goes deeper than a regular cleaning, so you may be given an anesthetic to minimize discomfort. The cleaning usually takes two visits to complete, depending on the extent of the disease.

Non-surgical periodontal treatment does have its limitations. When it does not achieve periodontal health, surgery may be indicated in order to restore periodontal health. Our overarching goal is to save your teeth.

Sometimes referred to as a soft tissue graft, a small amount of tissue from the top of your mouth or another source is removed and sewed to the gum area, covering the roots and restoring the gum line to its original, healthy location. This procedure can also be performed for cosmetic reasons too. Once the healing process is complete, you can enjoy a beautifully aligned gum line!

Crown lengthening reshapes your gums at the base of a tooth. It can be used to remove excess gum tissue and reshape your smile to provide a more aesthetically-appealing appearance. Most often, it may be required when your tooth needs a new crown or other restoration.

Poorly positioned wisdom teeth may cause many problems, including growth of bacteria, which in turn could result in stiffness, swelling, pain and illness that could be signs of an infection. The erupting wisdom tooth may move other teeth and disrupt the natural or orthodontic alignment of teeth. Cysts or tumors can form around the impacted wisdom teeth. This can cause serious problems and result in the destruction of healthy teeth and the jaw bone. These problems can be resolved by removal of the offensive wisdom teeth, which should be extracted early to minimize the surgical risk involved with the procedure and to avoid problems.

Dr. Horowitz will evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth and discuss any present or future complications by reviewing x-rays, a 3-D cone beam tomography and oral examination of the mouth. He will discuss with you the extraction procedure, treatment and your well-being before, during, and after the extraction.

Extractions, periodontal disease, trauma, broken teeth and/or oral infections can lead to bone loss. Bone tissue must be replaced to enable ideal restoration with or without the use of dental implants.

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. They may be a solution for your missing teeth and a way to restore your smile.

If you are missing or soon will be missing a single tooth or multiple teeth, a dental implant restoration is the ideal solution. Dental implants offer a long-term, convenient, worry-free solution for replacing teeth. Rooted in the bone, implants look and feel like your own healthy teeth. Unlike dentures, you dont need to worry about artificial material adhering to the roof of your mouth or wear and tear on your healthy teeth.

Full arch implant restoration involves the precise placement of titanium implants in the jaw bone. These serve as anchors for a full dental bridge of artificial teeth that can provide complete rehabilitation for tooth loss. As this technique provides the same structural support as traditional single implant treatments with a limited number of implants and incisions, overall treatment and recovery times are significantly reduced.

Dental implants can fail as the result of bone injury or loss from oral trauma or as the result of an accident. In most cases, the implant restoration (such as the crown) may need to be replaced but the implant itself should remain unharmed. Please contact Robert A. Horowitz, DDS, at 914-723-3366 immediately after an accident if you suspect your implant may have been damaged.

Denture conversion has many benefits and can contribute to a glowing smile. Complete dentures can replace missing teeth for people with no remaining teeth. Dentures may also be used for people who have lost several teeth as a result of periodontal disease (gum disease), tooth decay, or traumatic injury. The ill effects of not replacing missing teeth can include shifts in remaining teeth, an inability to bite and chew properly, as well as a sagging facial appearance, which makes you appear older than you are. The beauty of dentures today is that they are designed to be comfortable and functional, are similar in appearance to natural teeth, and can improve a smile.

Dr. Horowitz continues to help me greatly with regenerating bone for implant placement and regenerating where bone has eroded due to tooth grinding while sleeping or bone infection due to fracture root that has root canal treatment. He is truly an expert in bone regeneration. I have been the beneficiary of his knowledge and expertise. Most importantly, he is a caring, empathetic periodontist who presents you with all your options, benefits and risks. He is exceptional and at the same time quite humble and these qualities are not easy to find.

The doctor's staff and medical associates share these qualities with him. Their professionalism, cheerfulness, patience and kindness have put me at ease and enhanced my confidence in their work. When I started, I was sure I'd wind up with dentures as all my teeth were moving. He was confident he could save them. Years later with the exception of 1 tooth far gone, I still have all of them with excellent gum health. Dr Horowitz has always been on the lookout for state of the art dental technology. His last major work on me was deep gum scaling using laser technology. Instead of 4 visits (quadrants), it was done in two treatments with no stitches, minimal swelling and in less chair time BTW, I'm a diabetic. Proper gum health brought down my A1C

I've been using Dr. Horowitz for years as a general dentist and periodontist. He is extremely knowledgeable and capable. He takes care to make every procedure as painless as possible. He is also very personable, willing to take the time to explain procedures and answer questions. His staff is always friendly and helpful. My most recent visit was for a cankar sore on my tongue, which is extremely painful. He has an amazing laser wound healing treatment that healed my tongue in only two visits over two days. It is truly a miracle. I highly recommend Dr. Horowitz and his staff.

Dr. Horowitz is an excellent periodontist and a truly remarkable human being. My wife and I have been under his expert care for over 25 years. Two days ago, he brilliantly eliminated an infection from a 50-year-old root-canaled front tooth with a crown. I feared my gum would be cut. But he painlessly disposed of the Infection and restored the lost bone quickly. Once again, his knowledge provided the best solution. We drive many miles to have the superb care of Bobby and his great staff! They are the best! George J Whalen

I have seen periodontists regularly for about 30 years. Until I was referred to Dr. Horowitz five years ago, no periodontist, and no dentist for that matter, had properly diagnosed the cause of my gum and bone recession. Dr. Horowitz was the first periodontist and the first dentist to tell me that we needed to fix my bite in order to reduce the recession. And that advice, together with a few procedures and orthodontic treatment, has helped to repair much of the recession which occurred under the watchful eye of the previous periodontists over many years, and to significantly reduce future recession. If you're looking for an honest, very experienced and skilled, tell it like it is periodontist, I highly recommend Dr. Horowitz.
