My 9 year old son was referred to Dr. Roan to have 4 teeth extracted. I was immediately put off by the way he was treated in the office for the evaluation. Dr. Roan did not speak to my son or interact with him in any way to make him feel comfortable about the procedure. Then when he went to look in his mouth my son immediately froze up. And I was told they may not be able to do the procedure. My son already had anxiety about dental work and this did nothing to reassure him. Against my better judgement we scheduled his oral surgery. Only to be rescheduled multiple times. The office filed the wrong procedure code with our insurance and told us it wouldn't be covered at all. I had to call back twice to convince them to file again with the proper code. Finally the morning of the procedure the office called and cancelled because the doctor was sick. I do understand this wasn't his fault. But we were only notified an hour prior to the procedure. My son had already had a restless night of sleep due to anxiety, we had kept him home from school, and skipped breakfast in preparation. I was extremely frustrated with the situation. And instead of an apology and being reassured by the office staff they berated me and argued with me over the phone. I reluctantly rescheduled the procedure for 6 weeks later because that was the soonest they could get him in again. And then the next day the office called back and dropped him as a patient. I am extremely frustrated with the whole situation. Please do not waste your time. He may be a perfectly fine oral surgeon, but the service we received was subpar and completely non compassionate. Especially if you have children or have problems with anxiety with dental procedures look elsewhere.
