He lived in Charleston as a child when his father was on the faculty at MUSC. His love of the ocean and the outdoors along with the desire to raise his son close to friends and family has brought him back to the Lowcountry.
Rivertowne Family Dentistry was started in July 2011. We treat patients of all ages and focus on restorative and preventative care. Our staff is experienced and caring. Your comfort truly is our top priority.
Lorie is our Office Manager and Insurance Coordinator. She helps patients understand their dental insurance benefits and our financial policies. She was a dental assistant for 20 years before moving to the front office. She moved to Mount Pleasant in 2010 and has been with our office ever since. She has three handsome sons and a beautiful granddaughter. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good book and spending time at the beach.
Emily is one of the hygienists at Rivertowne Family Dentistry. She has been with our office since graduating from Trident Tech in 2012. Her gentle touch and friendly chairside manner helps her patients feel more relaxed and comfortable during their visit. When she is not in the office, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
Kaitlyn has been a dental hygienist with our office since she graduated from Trident Tech in 2014. She enjoys getting to know her patients and providing the best care for their individual needs. When shes not in the office she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach and trying all the new restaurants Charleston has to offer.
Amanda was born an raised in Charleston and graduated from Trident Technical College in 2009 with a degree in Expanded Duty Dental Assisting. She is passionate about patient care and strives to make all of our patients feel comfortable about their dental experience. In her free time she enjoys going to concerts, boating, watching Clemson football, and spending time with her friends and family.
Geana relocated from Florida to Charleston in 2015. She has been with Dr. Swensons office since 2018 as the front receptionist and enjoys greeting patients and sharing a friendly smile. She and her husband have two grown children and one four legged fur baby. Geana enjoys baking and taking walks with her husband and dog.

I went to Rivertowne family dentistry because my old dentist who I loved,no longer accepted my insurance. I was referred by a friend Jerry and Sharon Miner and they take my insurance.My first visit was thorough and informative! Everyone in the office was super nice, knowledgeable and efficient. Dr. Matt Swenson went over each of my X-rays and teeth. He wasn't pushy but showed areas of my teeth that were of concern and how to treat them. He even suggested I talk to my old dentist about some recent work he had done on a tooth, that he might potentially go back and fix it! Anyway great visit! Highly recommend!

Absolutely the best dental practice I have been to in greater than 50 years. Dr. Swenson goes above and beyond. Point in case he met me at the office after hours to tweak a bite block that had been affected by a new crown Truly amazing care and professionalism.

Pleasant, welcoming and competent staff, comprehensive exam and walk through of evaluation by Dr. Swenson, and pleasant and gentle cleaning by Tess with helpful suggestions on self care. Nice office and TVs in exam rooms. Would definitely recommend to others.
