RiverRock Dental in Shakopee, MN is a multi specialty dental clinic. Our dentists, Dr. Todd Christianson and Dr. Andrew Backes hold over a decade of collective clinical expertise to provide quality specialized dental care at affordable price. Each member of our team is dedicated to ensuring that our patients are well-informed and comfortable at all times. At RiverRock Dental, we will never begin a treatment or procedure until all of your questions have been answered and you feel relaxed and at ease. To give you the best possible services and results, we are committed to continual education and learning. Being member of various dental associations helps us to stay abreast of the changes and recommendations for our profession.
Marissa grew up in Mankato and graduated from South Central Technical College in 2001. She has been with our practice since 2006. Marissa lives in New Prague with her husband and three children. She loves coaching her daughtersbasketball teams, being active in athletic activities and spending time on the boat with her family.
Megan grew up in Apple Valley and graduated in 2006 from Dakota County Technical College. Megan joined our office in 2016. She lives in Prior Lake with her husband and two children. Megan enjoys spending time with family and friends on the lake!
Ronda grew up as an Army Brat, living in different states and countries. Ronda attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City and graduated in 1988. She has been with our practice since 1988 and truly enjoys helping patients achieve and maintain their dental health along with building patient friendships.Ronda enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, son and extended family and friends. Nature, outdoor activities and dogs bring peace and joy to her life.
Elena graduated from Lakeland Medical and Dental Academy. She enjoys working with patients and building positive relationships with them. Elena was born and raised in Moscow, Russia and accustomed to very long snowy winters from her childhood years. She enjoys good food, discovering new venues, theaters and art galleries. Elena lives in Chaska with her husband and two children.
Kelly grew up in the small town of Mantorville, Minnesota. She now resides in Shakopee with her husband. Kelly attended Minnesota State University, Mankato and graduated in 2016. She truly enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them maintain oral health. Kelly enjoys spending time with family and taking advantage of all the great outdoor activities MN has to offer.
Stacy grew up in Burnsville and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2003. Stacy enjoys getting to know patients and strives to give each person her individualized attention while providing the highest level of care. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing guitar, singing, being active in athletic activities and spending time up north.
Michelle grew up in Shakopee. She graduated from Herzing University in 2003. Michelle lives in Jordan with her husband, 3 children and dog Freya. She enjoys traveling, camping and spending time on the North Shore with family. She is also a sports mom who can be found cheering on her kids at their sporting events.
Dr. Christianson graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2008, after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Continuing education is a top priority, as he strives to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry so that he can provide the best dental care possible. Dr. Christianson is an active member in the Southside Comprehensive Study Club and also participates in the Give Kids a Smile program. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four small children. As an outdoor enthusiast, thats where he can be found when he is not at the office. Dr. Christianson also enjoys most sports, and is a high school football official in the fall.
Dr. Backes is from Buffalo, MN. He is a graduate of the University of MN School of Dentistry, after receiving his undergraduate degree from St. Johns University. Dr. Backes is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Backes believes in treating patients with compassion and care. He strives to work with each person to help them reach their own personal dental goals. He is committed to continuing education to provide the best and most recent dental care available. Dr. Backes is here to provide excellent dental care for you and your family. When away from the office, Dr. Backes enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He loves being outdoors and enjoys tennis, hiking, spending time at the lake, and photography.
Dr. Hanson is originally from Stillwater, MN. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in Biology and a minor French. After a gap year in Philadelphia, PA, he completed his dental school education at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Hanson stays up-to-date with current dental practices through continuing education. He loves to stay active in his community through volunteering at The Special Olympics and other community events.

I had bad dentists in the past that gave me horrible anxiety visiting anyone new. Then I was referred here, and it's been very nice. I no longer have anxiety visiting the dentist. Riverrock is very professional, and care about their patients. :)

I have major anxiety when it comes to the dentist and have had terrible experiences in the past. I can say at RiverRock they make you feel comfortable, they do not judge, and are very caring! I no longer have to prepare myself each time I go to the dentist. Dr. Christianson and his team are amazing! Highly recommend!!

I hadn't gone to the dentist in a really long time. No one at River rock made me feel bad about that! I ended up needing a deep cleaning. Kelly did an amazing job making sure I was comfortable, knew what she was doing and making my teeth healthy again. The dentist I saw also did a great job filling in my cavity. Thank you guys :)

OUTSTANDING.. I'm not sure where I should even begin, from the first phone call, to meeting them today and feeling so welcomed into their office. I wear a Partial and there's nothing more embarrassing I think. They where able to get me, X-rays, 2 cavities filled and a very WONDERFUL deep cleaning courtesy of Stacy. All in one day, Along with assessing and handling my partial in ways that I've never experienced in 21 years. Hats off to this Team. Thank you.

I have been returning to River Rock ever since the first of my teeth grew into my beautiful head! I have never had a negative moment with any of my visits or any member of the staff in all this time. Every single person there is kind and supportive. The newer doctors that replaced my beloved older one are just as pleasant, attentive and funny. I will always reccomend this place to anyone looking for a new permanent dentist!

Had severe tooth pain and they were able to get me in immediately and not only that when they determined that it was my wisdom they were able to take them out right then, no waiting in pain for another appointment. The staff was incredibly friendly, the facilities were clean and bright, and though its hardly important all of the rooms have a very nice view

Very professional and accommodating atmosphere. There is a genuine concern for the well being of the patient. "Are you doing alright", "Do you need anything", etc. are phrases used quite often. No hard selling of additional services, but at the same time options for improved health are pointed out. The doctor is personable and takes the time to get to know you and he remembers you the next time you visit. I would highly recommend this practice for your dental needs.
