Dr. Elgohary is originally from the Virginia Beach area. He attended Old Dominion University and received his dental degree from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Elgohary strives everyday to serve his patients with exceptional dental care. His practice philosophy is to provide dentistry that looks good, lasts, is comfortable, and is easy to maintain. Dr. Elgohary currently resides in Northern Suffolk with his wife, Dina, and their identical twin boys. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, cooking, and spending as much time with his sons as possible.
Heidi, the teams office manager, loves dentistry and has dedicated over 30 years to growing in the Hampton Roads dental community. She started her career as a Dental Assistant after graduating from ECPI and moved to coordinating and volunteering at a local non-profit dental clinic for the under-served before coming to Riverfront Dentistry. She married her high school sweetheart just after high school and moved to Hampton Roads and enjoys living in their country home. Together they have raised their 2 sons, have a bloodhound Bo and 3 cats. In their spare time, they are active in Smithfields Boy Scout Troop, skiing and cruising in the Caribbean when they can get away.
Our hygienist, Heather Bowen, grew up in Chesapeake then moved to Suffolk after getting married. She received a BS in Education and then another BS in Dental Hygiene a few years later at Old Dominion University. Heather enjoys many hobbies such as gardening, beekeeping, snowboarding, wood burning, camping, tie-dying, knitting, reading, and exercising! Her two dogs eat everything and her family just adopted a pig! She and her husband have two kids that they love spending time playing games, riding bikes, cooking, and teaching them everything! That passion for education has carried over in dental hygiene because she loves taking care of her patients so they will love their smile for many years.
Katie, Our lead Registered Dental Assistant, received her education in 2008 at Bryant and Stratton and has worked in the dental field since. She enjoys having fun with our patients and believes laughing makes the day roll by. You may very well hear her laughing from the moment you enter our office. Katie lives in Carrollton with her husband, their 3 children, their dog Sabrina, and cat Grumbles. When she isnt at Riverfront Dentistry making us all laugh, she enjoys binge watching TV shows, a nice bottle of wine and trying out new restaurants with her husband.
Our Hygienist, Jessica Sweatman, is a native to Hampton Roads and currently resides in Smithfield with her husband, 2 boys, 3 dogs, and 2 birds. Jessicas love of education and advocating for people has earned her a BS in sociology and anthropology from VCU and a BS in Dental Hygiene from ODU. She was a domestic violence and sexual assault counselor before she became a dental hygienist. She enjoys being outdoors and watching Hallmark movies. Her passion for health and fitness keeps her running daily as she currently trains for an Olympic triathlon. Her boys share her love for outdoor activities as their family spends many evenings and weekends on soccer and sport fields.

Dr. ElGohary is a very compassionate and talented dentist. He is well knowledged and has a gentle approach, takes time to explain and never makes us feel rushed. His entire staff is great to work with, whether they are with us or the kids, and Heidi is so very organized and hard working, there's no wait time and very efficient. It is actually a great experience to go to the dentist.

Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. Very clean establishment. While there, Jessica did an amazing job cleaning my teeth. She was very considerate, thorough, and friendly. She did a great job explaining everything to me. Dr. Elgohary is also very nice and took the time to explain everything to me as well. Great people and highly recommend them!!

This place is absolutely amazing. From the front desk ladies doing everything in their power to help you out to the back staff doing what they can to help restore your confidence in your smile. Katie is amazing making sure I was comfortable while getting my crowns put in. I couldn't recommend a better Dental Assistant than her. Heather is an amazing hygienist. By the time she is done my mouth feels super clean. Heidi is a lifesaver by working tirelessly with my insurance to make the cost impact not hurt so much. Finally Dr. Elgohary is an amazing Dentist and brought my confidence back through my smile. I have found my new home.

Best dental office in Tidewater! If your looking for a dentist that's thorough and professional look no further. The office manager Heidi made my experience seamless from the time I walked in to check out. You get texts to remind you of your appointment (which I need) and processing my insurance has never gone better. I absolutely LOVE Heather my hygienist! Unbeknownst to her I followed her to Dr. Elgohary's practice. My mindset was that even if I didn't like the dentist I would receive most of my care and time with her anyways. May I please say that the experience as a whole was phenomenal! Lilly at the front desk was so nice assisting me with setting up an appointment. She was very upfront and informative and immediately followed up our conversation with a text. Day of the appointment went smoothly. All 'paperwork' was filled out on a computer and my wait time was less than five minutes! I received excellent care from my regular hygienist (as I already knew I would!) and then Dr. Elgohary came in. He was so warm introducing himself and welcoming me to his office. He shook my hand, took his time to thoroughly exam me, explained his concerns to me in detail, gave me options on how to achieve the best results, and then thanked me for choosing his office! Upon checkout I received my next appointment along with a new patient 'thank you/parting' gift. I was also text an appointment and emailed a treatment plan. Finally, the next day I was called and thanked again for allowing them to provide my care!! Customer service is a long lost art! However, Dr. Elgohary and his staff are spot on!!! Did I mention there were complimentary beverages?! I am telling everyone about Riverfront Dentistry!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for an amazing experience!!!

Dr. Elgohary and his team are absolutely wonderful! I have visited several dentists over the years, and this office is one of the best. I have never doubted their sincerity in caring for me as their patient. In fact, they have gone above and beyond any previous dental office to help me get to where I need to be. The office is open and inviting, and every team member is kind and willing to assist in any way. I would highly recommend Dr. Elgohary!

Most amazing dental experience for me!!! I am terrified of dentist but Dr. Elgohary and his staff made my first exam and cleaning a very positive one. I am actually looking forward to my follow up visits. I have NEVER said that about a dental office before. Awesome people and I am SO glad I found them!!

Everyone here is awesome and so nice. Jessica - "You Rock!" , she is an amazing hygienist and just a great person to chat with which made my experience more comfortable. It was my first visit and Dr Elgohary was so attentive and nice. Highly recommend these guys if you are looking for a very pleasant professional experience go see these guys!

Exceptional service. Never enjoyed going to a dentist before today. Had a filling fixed, didn't leave with my face feeling like I had a softball in it. Just enough lidocaine to keep from feeling anything but didn't have the tingling loss of all feeling for hours after. OUTSTANDING!

Worst experience ever. I waited three months for a deep cleaning. First, if a dentist office is having to schedule that far out, then they should increase their staff, sometimes customers service is better than profit. I forgot about my appointment, I think they may have called two weeks ago to remind me, but it was probably doing my working hours and most people know how that goes. Never the less day of the appointment, I get a call at 310, my appointment was at 300 ask if I was coming. I was honest about forgetting the appointment but I was literally 5 mins, less than a mile away. I said I could be there in 5 mins and lady says "No" it's to late. Really 15 minutes is too late? Ok, whatever. Then she proceed to say we may charge a no show fee, depending on your history etc. Wait, I never missed an appointment before. I'm less than a mile away from your office right now. I waited three months for this appointment and your office will not wait 15 minutes for me. Really, and you threatening a no show fee. I had an another deep cleaning appointment scheduled for the following week, so I cancelled it. That way they could make up the money they lost for not giving me 15 minutes of leeway when I gave them 3 months of waiting to be seen. Now, I shouldn't be charged since they are so desperate for money. I recommending finding another dentist office, I will be finding another dentist office for all five members of my family. Update: Because of this review, the dentist office send us a very tacky message, cancelling our service for my children and husband. This is perfectly ok, because there is better dentist in the in the area, that is not immature this unprofessional. They have thousand of people write false reviews but here is a photo of the tacky letter they provided. Due to negative and but factual review. They even state it in the letter " wish to cancel on a review."I will not be silenced, you can't cancel me and I know my First Amendment Right. I spoke the truth about my experience and I'm happy to find another denist that is mature enough to handle a negative review

I had severe TMJ pain and was searching for a dentist with experience in treating patients with TMJ. I called to schedule an appointment at Riverfront Dentistry and felt confident that I had found the right office after talking with Lily. I was seen right away and was so impressed with Dr. Elgohary's expertise and compassion. The dental team at Riverfront Dentistry gets an A+ from me. They are all very kind and supportive.

If you are looking for a new Dentist, look no further. The Dr. and staff are no less then amazing. I have a true fear of the dentist and they put my nerves at ease. Every time I walk in I am a nervous wreck and by the time I leave, I am so happy that I was seen by them. When it comes to appointments they are always willing to work around your schedule and with non emergency situations, I have never had an issue getting in first thing to have them addressed. I also greatly appreciate that Dr. Elgohary continues to be a in-network Dr. for Active Duty Military, when many other dentists in Hampton Roads dropped them because the insurance is subpar (my option) for in-network providers.

Outstanding office! Heather, the RDH, and I clicked from the start! She had me laughing and feeling very comfortable while cleaning up my smile. The Dr was very personable and answered any questions I had. The front office staff was very friendly as well, laughs and smiles all around! Great job to all that work here, I'm excited to have found this great practice !!

I was looking for a new dentist after a bad experience with my previous dentist of over 10 years and I have found the perfect office. From the start of my first visit the staff was welcoming and polite, even with Covid protocol in place you could tell they were smiling behind their masks. Heidi and Lilly are both wonderful and treated me like I had been coming there for years. Jessica was fantastic and took extra care with my cleaning while keeping me comfortable. I never felt like she was rushed to finish my appointment. I scheduled a crown that was giving me trouble to be replaced. A few days before the appointment the tooth next to the crown broke and they were able to add that repair in with the same scheduled time. Dr. E is excellent and keeps you laughing while he works. No one honestly enjoys dental visits but Dr E and Katie did a wonderful job making this appointment as enjoyable as it could be. Riverfront Dentistry is a wonderful office with staff that genuinely care.

Have been going to Dr Elgohary for almost 15 years. Based on a recent experience, wish there were a way to give them more than five stars. The entire staff is happy, engaging, polite, efficient and most importantly; they do incredible work!
