I have loved working with my hands ever since I was little. My furthest memories go back to about six years of age when I wanted to be a dentist, and I found it fascinating. My parents always thought that I would change from that, but all through the years, I didn't deviate, dentistry was what I've always wanted to do. My manual dexterity is where my skills are, and it is the biggest joy in what I do, being able to use my hands and do dentistry. Endodontics is even more intensely necessary for manual skills, very precise, very intricate, very detailed. And so it plays to my wheelhouse, so I enjoy that very much.
The other side of it, is I 'm an introvert, I have a hard time being outward, but having patients come to me and talk with me about dentistry and endodontics and implants, it 's like I 'm making new friends every day. It 's so wonderfully satisfying to meet all these new people and get to know them. When you come here, you 're like one of our friends, you get to know every one who took part in your care. You are one of our family as one of our patients here, it is rewarding to have you actually leave and say, 'That was so much easier, I can 't believe that I was so worried about this. It was much better than I thought it was ever going to be.'
I have a rich and varied educational background. I had different thoughts and grew along the way. I started off doing a bachelor of science in chemistry with a minor in business, knowing all the time I wanted to get into dentistry, but chemistry was my backup plan. I made it into dentistry. I at times struggled in dental school, but I actually graduated number three in my class and with one of the two gold medallions for my work in dentistry.
So, after dental school, I went to private practice for a couple of years because I felt it was important that any specialist should understand what it takes to be a general dentist first, because invariably, they are the master coordinator of your treatment plan. And so I was a general dentist for two years, after which time I went to grad school to study endodontics, I got my specialty training in endodontics, and also a masters degree in material science related to my research work which is published nationally, and is one of the 10 most highly cited articles in endodontics. So kind of a long history, lots of education, 14 years of post-secondary education, had anyone told me grade 12 would not have been the halfway point, I would have laughed at them in grade 12, and here I am, 14 years of college later.
When he was a young boy, Dr. Ernest Reeh enjoyed building model boats, cars, and airplanes as well as woodworking and repairing watches. Being good with his hands and being a keen visual learner came naturally to him. This, along with his desire to help improve peoples dental health, is what made him want to become a dentist when he grew older.
Dr. Reeh received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary, Alberta with a major in chemistry and a minor in business. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Alberta School of Dentistry and was awarded the James McCutcheon Honor Award (one of two gold medals awarded to graduating students).
Dr. Reeh worked as a general dentist in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and received two years of specialty training in endodontics from the University of Minnesota. His masters work was presented at an annual meeting and won the top award. He completed his masters degree in material science and his doctorate degree in biophysics from the University of Minnesota with a related field minor in engineering.
Dr. Reeh was a faculty member of the University of Minnesotas endodontics division while practicing dentistry privately. He had always enjoyed the academic community but not as much as private practice, so he decided to start his own practice. He missed the academic environment, however, and continued to do volunteer research at the University of Minnesota, developing two products for which he holds two patents. He eventually left research at the university and went into private practice full time.
Dr. Reeh has also conducted extensive endodontic research throughout his career. His findings have been published in numerous professional journals, case reports, and abstracts, and he has given lectures both nationally and internationally. Dr. Reeh also holds two dental technology patents.

I was pretty apprehensive as I arrived for a molar root canal treatment. The various experiences of friends had put me in a very anxious state of mind. I was immediately met by the friendly and professional staff persons. Shortly I was led to the room where the procedure was to take place. I was envisioning some kind of torture chamber but instead was greeted by a bright and pleasant room with a large window overlooking a peaceful lake and forest. Dr. Reeh entered and carefully explained my options. I decided to go ahead with the root canal treatment and also nitrous oxide for sedation. The procedure, although not exactly fun, was not terribly unpleasant. Dr. Reeh and his extremely professional assistant were amazing. They worked together perfectly, and each seemed to anticipate the other's needs instantly. I am confident that Dr. Reeh is a profoundly skilled and thorough craftsman. Everything turned out great, and I would highly recommend River Valley Endodontics.

I have been visiting River Valley Endodontics for several years now and am very pleased of the service they provide. Dr. Ernest Reeh is extremely knowledgeable of his craft, he takes time to not only investigate the problem and if necessary, adds state of the art technology on circular x-ray machines and other devices and explains in full details of his plan and procedure to rectify the issue/s and expected recovery! I say 'he has magic in his hands', all my experiences are very positive! I am very happy with his work on my teeth and gum.

After suffering a few days over the weekend with a BAD toothache, I went to Dr. Reeh and had a root canal. It was a really nice office and he and his staff were wonderful. I highly recommend going to visit them with any special dental needs you have.

I had never had a root canal and was feeling a bit anxious. It turns out it was a "non-event." Outside of getting numbed up, there wasn't an ounce of pain. It was actually kind of boring to stare up at the ceiling for an hour while they masterfully worked on my tooth. I would highly recommend the team at River Valley Endodontics. They were able to squeeze me in on short notice and did a great job on the actual dental work.

Never having had a root canal before, and having heard horror stories from some, I didn't approach this experience with joyful anticipation. My referring dentist, was however, very positive about recommending Dr. Reeh and he was right. The whole experience was great. The staff was helpful, and Dr. Reeh's careful and his explanations of my treatment choices and details of the steps in the process during the procedure kept me in tune with what was going on. Much to my surprise, I experienced no pain during the procedure or in the days following. I enthusiastically recommend River Valley Endodontics.

Something like tooth extraction and implant prep can seem overwhelming to a patient. Dr. Reeh takes the time to thoroughly explain the entire procedure and what you can expect in an easy-to-understand way. He truly is a gifted health care provider.

I highly recommend River Valley Endodontics! Dr. Reeh and his team did such a wonderful job on a root canal rework/redo that I needed. Start to finish it was a very thorough, professional and very friendly experience. The consultation process was informative and the presentation of options available to me was very impressive and straight forward. Best of all, the procedure performed was absolutely painless! I live in the Twin Cities south metro area and without a second thought I will easily drive an hour to Stillwater to have my work done by Dr Reeh. An old root canal, performed elsewhere and with complications, resulted in inflammation over the years, together with bone loss. I wanted to keep the tooth if possible, so surgery was performed to remove part of the root and replace the damaged bone with a graft. I don't lightly submit to medical procedures, but this had to be done and Dr. Reeh's stellar credentials made me very comfortable in having him do it. Dr. Reeh and the entire staff were extraordinarily accommodating and professional. The superior technology allowed me to "see" exactly what the problem was and what would be done to take care of it. Not only would I recommend this clinic to others, I would "gently insist" on it.

If you can have a wonderful experience while having a root canal performed than this is the place! I have had the pleasure of a number of procedures at the extremely capable hands and mind of Ernest Reeh. A more relaxing, thoughtful, caring experience under the circumstances is not easily found. All of the very latest technology comes into play, not surprising as Dr Reeh at the forefront on most of it's development. And the view from any of the chairs is spectacular. Great care and thought went into the placement of their building on this great piece of property. My hat is off to Dr Reeh and his unrivaled staff. Hope I don't see them soon.

I have ALWAYS had highly satisfying experiences at River Valley Endodontics! I love the kind thoughtful extraordinarily competent care I have always received. I recall a time many years ago when I was suddenly facing great pain the night before I had to board a flight to a very important distant event that I could not miss. The doctor , (7+ months pregnant!) met me after hours that night! I will NEVER forget that experience and the difference she made. I still can't believe how fortunate I was to receive such compassionate care. Today I trust Dr. Reeh wholeheartedly! I can't say enough about this clinic and his highly competent friendly wonderful team!
