Our team is made up of family and friends who take our work seriously with continuing education, modern technology, and advanced services. Our expert dentists and trained staff offer nearly any kind of dental service youll need, from routine cleanings to braces and root canals.

Dr. Thompson uses CAD/CAM technology to deliver same-day CEREC crowns in a single dental visit (no temporaries 95% of the time), and he has completed thousands of CEREC restorations in his career. River Valley Dental are CEREC Primescan users, and Dr. Thompson has also completed multiple full mouth reconstructions using CEREC without so much as taking a conventional rubber impression. The vast majority of River Valley Dental workflow is completely digital dentistry. CEREC is also used in conjunction with cutting edge dental labs to construct implant restorations, dentures, partials, and bridges, all through 3D printing and digital impression making. Dr. Thompson has pursued advanced education in 3D Cone Beam X-ray technology, extensive training in the surgical placement of dental implants, as well as advanced root canal therapy, having completed hundreds of successful root canals as well as having placed and restored hundreds of dental implants with a very high success rate. Dr. Thompson has placed implants and restored entire arches with dental implant placement and restoration. While there are certainly instances of a need to refer to a dental specialist, there is a good chance Dr. Thompson can address your dental issue without you having to leave our office. Dr. Thompson is also a sleep medicine dentist and pursued advanced education in the treatment of breathing-related disorders such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. He is trained and certified in the administration of IV Conscious Sedation. He completed his training in IV moderate conscious sedation at Duquesne University and is certified by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry for outpatient moderate conscious sedation in the dental office. Dr. Thompson is also a certified Invisalign provider, as well as a member of The American Academy of Facial Esthetics who certified him in the administration of Botulism Toxin (commonly known as Botox).

Dr. Thompson has served on two mission trips to Haiti with the Catholic church alongside his father, a practicing part time oral surgeon at River Valley Dental, and his sister Kathryn Haire who is also a full time general dentist at River Valley Dental. He plans to go to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica for his next round of mission trips. While on these mission trips in Haiti, Dr. Thompson was able to help many patients in need of dental care, and also become highly proficient in routine oral surgery learning how to efficiently remove teeth alongside his Father who has been an Oral Surgeon for many years. Dr. Thompson is extremely adept at exodontia for a general dentist having removed thousands of teeth in Haiti as well as in the dental office performing surgical extractions daily.

Dr. Thompson decided to become a dentist as a teenager after suffering a traumatic dental injury. This injury necessitated extensive dental treatment and surgery, including root canals, bone grafting, and dental implant surgery. Undergoing these procedures caused him to develop a strong passion for dentistry at a very early age, and, as a result, he has a unique ability to relate to his patients on a very personal level. He looks forward to meeting you in the office!

Dr. Thompson enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Nina, his energetic and awesome daughter Leah, and their dog, Copper. He also enjoys traveling, anything involving the lake or beach, hiking, kayaking, boating and anything else outdoors, the occasional round of golf or disc golf, and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats Football team (and Basketball team of course)

Dr. Tom Thompson was born and raised in Owensboro, KY. He attended college at the University of Kentucky and went on after graduation to attend the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where he graduated in 1984. He joined the United States Navy, commissioned as an officer, after his completion of dental school. He served for 20 years, achieved the rank of Captain, and delivered dental care to active duty and reservist military members. He completed several years working as a general dentist before completing an Advanced Clinical Program Fellowship in Oral Surgery at Marine Corps Recruiting Depot, Parris Island, SC. After his fellowship, he went on to complete his residency program at Walter Reed Naval Hospital. Dr. Tom is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and is certified in ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) and BLS (basic life support providers).

Dr. Kathryn Haire was born in Washington D.C. as her father was completing his oral surgery residency at Walter Reed Naval Hospital. She is also Dr. Thompsons youngest sibling. Dr. Haire graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2016 and went on to attend the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, graduating in 2020. She is trained in all aspects of digital dentistry and treating patients at the highest level of care.

Dr. Haire spent several summers working at a nearby church camp for childrenGasper River Catholic Youth Camp. It was there that she met her husband, Logan, and the two were married just after her graduation from WKU in 2016. They are thrilled to be members of the Maysville community. Furthermore, Dr. Haire is pleased to continue our mission of providing top quality dental care to the people of Mason County and beyond.

Do NOT let Dr Dan Thompson touch your mouth! On 10/26 I went in for a root canal with Dr Kathryn Haire. She was wonderful, but could try not finish the root canal due to not being able to get as deep in the root as she needed too. We made the decision to extract the tooth. Dr Haire let me know she doesn't extract, but her brother Dr Dan Thompson did. From the second we walked in the room, he was rude, condescending and rough! When looking in my mouth, he pulled back my lip harshly and started poking around to check if I was numb enough without warning. He gave me more numbing to ensure I was numb enough. As he started to pull the tooth, I could feel everything! He didn't stop long enough for me to tell him, but it was obvious I was in pain. He made comments of "there's no way you can feel this" "it's just pressure, not pain" and "even if you can feel it, there's nothing I can do". Regardless, he pulled the tooth anyways. I left sobbing. This is no way to treat a patient. Fast forward to today, 11/1, SIX DAYS LATER, and I was still in pain. I went to another dentist to see what was going on. I was not letting anyone from that practice touch my mouth. Dr Dan Thompson did not file down any of the bone that was poking out of my gums, and he left bone fragments in my gums. I had to have a second procedure to grind down 3 bones protruding from my gums, remove the bone fragment left behind, and a round of antibiotics, along with an antibiotic pack put in my gums since the wound was still not healed. Do not waste your time or money on this dentist.

Absolute amazing dentists! I've seen both, been here three times so far, and plan on coming back. And All throughout a pregnancy at that! They're so nice, gentle, and really caring! Would 100% recommend for any dental needs! I wish they took more insurances. But other than that. 100% recommend! They're awesome!
