Dr. Richard Valbuena and his wife, Dr. Kelly Joice opened River Rock Family Dental in the summer of 2007. Together they have three children, Kaden, Katelyn and Kylie. In his free time, he can be found spending quality time with his family and helping coach his children in baseball and soccer. Dr. Valbuena enjoys running, cycling, golf and fishing. He is a longtime parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and enjoys volunteering in the community.
Dr. Valbuena completed his undergraduate studies at Northeastern State University with a degree in Biology with a Cellular emphasis. He then continued on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, College of Dentistry in 2003. Since then, he has completed numerous continuing education courses to help ensure that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care. Dr. Valbuena trained extensively at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry and at the prestigious Misch International Implant Institute. Through his hard work and dedication towards Implant dentistry, he earned a Fellowship with the ICOI.
Dr. Valbuena is continually striving to keep up with the latest techniques and materials, while utilizing state-of -the-art technology to provide his patients with the safest and most effective dental care. He and his staff are prepared to provide their patients with the highest quality dental services available, in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Dr. Kelly Joice earned a double major in Organismal Biology and Psychology from the University of Kansas, before continuing her education at the University of Oklahoma, College of Dentistry. She completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery, with honors, including awards in pediatric and restorative dentistry in 2004. Following graduation, she went on to work in public healthcare with the Indian Health Service in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Joice is continually updating her dental skills and knowledge, and has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education, including certification in Short Term Adult Orthodontics. She is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association and the Douglas County Dental Society.

I was told insurance would cover x-rays, but I ended up paying out of pocket for their error because of the time interval. Other than that, everything was great.

I had a bad experience at another dentist had been in pain for several weeks went here for second opinion had work done in one day that would most likely take several visits any where else and in 24 hours problems were fixed at a very reasonable price. I had a root canal and a molar extraction and both were almost completely painless. He is even amazing at the numbing shots. I could go on and on about how kind and sympathetic every single one of the staff were to me. If you are looking for a dentist this is the one!!!

I had to have some dental work done and Dr. Valbuena was amazing. I have a bit of anxiety when it comes to dental procedures and he made it so easy. He worked so quickly and I literally felt NO pain with a root canal. I find that incredible. Even the next day I felt no pain. I'm not big at leaving reviews but he definitely deserves some recognition for this! If you are looking for a dentist this is a place to go.

I am very very disappointed with this office. Not accepting of the state Medicaid plans, not willing to work with patients in a tough situation or work with a payment plan. they just want their money. I am so disappointed in them. I have been a patient for quite some time, but I won't be going back now.

River Rock has the most amazing staff and are fantastic with our young kids. They love going to the same dentist that Mom and Dad get to go. We would highly recommend River Rock Family Dental to everyone!

This is hands down the best experience I have ever had at the dentist. The staff is so friendly and helpful and they're doing a wonderful job with all the extra COVID-19 precautions. There were very clear instructions on what to expect with the appointment from start to finish. Dr. Valbuena is very kind, calm, and efficient! I had to have several cavities filled but it was as swift as possible and I knew what to expect every step of the way. I felt very taken care of. I can't recommend River Rock Family Dental highly enough.

This is the only dentist that I have gone to more than twice in my adult life! Routine cleanings with the hygienists are pleasant and when I did need extra work, it was scheduled quickly and was practically painless. When I did have discomfort during the procedure, he stopped, gave me another pass at getting it numb and made sure I was comfortable before continuing. Unless something significantly changes for me, this is the dentist I will be seeing for years to come.
