Mitchell Scott was born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia, a small northern suburb of Atlanta. From a very young age, he showed great interest in science and medicine. Dr. Scott attended The University of Georgia where he graduated in three years with a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science in 2015. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Dental College of Georgia in 2019. While in dental school, he was awarded the prestigious Deans Award and Scholarship, inducted into the Omnicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and ranked within the top of his class.
Subsequently, Dr. Scott completed his first year of associateship in Columbia, South Carolina. During that year, he worked diligently with numerous complex cases, enhancing and fine-tuning his dental skills. He continues his passion for dentistry yearly by completing numerous hours of advanced continuing education courses in general practice and specialty procedures. He has a passion for comprehensive dentistry, which is showcased in his relationship with his patients. He enjoys being trained on modern, predictable techniques that offer convenience, comfort, and esthetic outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Scotts hobbies include hiking with his dog, playing tennis, and watching Georgia football. He has played tennis for the majority of his life. One highlight of his college career was being on the University of Georgias Club Tennis Team when they won the national championship in 2014.
Sue joined our dental team in 2018. She became a Certified Dental Assistant in 2003. Sue goes out of her way to make sure she delivers personal care to our patients and makes them feel at home. Sue says, ' I show up to work withsmile on my face because I love my job and the mission God set in place for me every day.' Sue was born in Mexico and at the age of 11 she moved to the US. She has lived in South Carolina ever since. She is fluent in Spanish. Sue has been married to her husband Charles since 2011. They have one beautiful daughter, Mia. She also enjoys cooking, going to the movies, listening to music, family time with grandparents and organizing her house.
Fran has been practicing dental hygiene in the Midlands since 2006 and feels fortunate that she was asked to join the River Oaks team in May of 2019. Fran grew up in North Augusta but moved to Lexington after getting married and finishing dental hygiene school. She graduated from Clemson University in 2004 with a degree in Human Nutrition. She subsequently earned her dental hygiene degree from Augusta University. Fran loves being a dental hygienist and takes pride in helping her patients establish and maintain their optimal dental health. Most of all, she enjoys the relationships made with her patients. She wants them to feel right at home when they come to see her and hopes they leave with a healthy smile on their face. Fran is married to her college sweetheart and they have two boys that keep them very busy with various activities and sports. When she's not at the ball field or gym with her boys, Fran enjoys running, cooking, and being outside.
Jennifer was born and raised in Murphy, North Carolina. She and her family moved to Batesburg-Leesville in 2002. From a blind date in December 2002, she met her forever best friend Jacob. Within two weeks of graduating from Midlands Technical College in 2006, Jennifer and Jacob were married. Jennifer has worked as a dental hygienist in private practice general dentistry since finishing her degree. She enjoys the opportunity it provides to establish long term relationships with patients and staff. Jacob and Jennifer have three terrific kids. As a family, they enjoy traveling and making special memories from playing in the creeks of Western North Carolina to fishing in Florida or visiting theme parks. When Jennifer does have free time, she enjoys being creative, shopping, or going out on the ever elusive date night.
Kristen joined our dental team in late 2019 bringing over a decade of dental experience with her. She completed a program in dental assisting from Spartanburg Technical College in 2005. Her favorite part of dentistry is getting to know the patients and their families. She had recently moved to the Midlands from a lifetime in the Upstate and has enjoyed getting to know the area. She has been married to her high school sweetheart since 2005 and they have two boys. She enjoys spending time with family, completing HGTV worthy house projects, riding bikes, going to the beach, and shopping.
Brittany is a native to the Columbia area, living in Chapin and Lexington for most of her life. She joined our team this year and is forever grateful for finding such an amazing team to grow with. Brittany graduated from a local dental assisting program top of her class. Brittany joined the dental community because she prides herself on helping others to smile beautifully. When shes not at work she is chasing after her daughter, Annabelle with her fianc, Kobey. They also share two huge bed hogs, Tucker; a Great Dane, and Sam; a Labrador. Brittany enjoys visiting the mountains, smelling candles, and the often too frequent Tjmaxx trip.

Most people don't look forward to a visit to the dentist. But I certainly enjoy seeing all the people at my dentist's office. Everyone there makes me feel comfortable, they all do great work and I can't believe they put up with me and my silly jokes. But seriously, I can honestly say that Dr. Duke and her employees are always only concerned about what's best for the patient. It's not the money that motivates this office. If you need a dentist you might consider going there. Thank you Dr. Duke and the staff!! TREATMENT DURING VIRUS PANDEMIC: I am adding to this review because I was so surprised with my office visit two days ago. I was really concerned about having dental work performed with the virus situations we're all experiencing. However, this office is doing almost everything possible to keep the patients and staff safe from virus transmission. You are met outside the office and your temperature is taken, questions are asked and then you are taken into the office with care taken to keep you from getting near any other patient. I never saw nor got near another patient. The waiting room is closed, the check-in counter is behind clear plexiglass and when you make a payment with a credit card, neither you nor the person accepting your payment are touched. When Dr. Duke and the dental technician work on you they are both wearing masks, face shields and protective disposable paper gowns. The patient's chair is covered in disposable plastic sheeting and the touch points on all the equipment are covered with plastic also. Even the patient's neck pillow is wrapped in disposable plastic. I only hit the key points here about the care taken in keeping this office a virus free transmission environment. I have no reservations about having continued dental work done here after seeing all the precautions taken. Even when entering or leaving the building I never touched the door. An employee opened and closed the door. My compliments to Dr. Duke and the staff. 4-30-2020 I love this office. The employees there always take care of me, maybe it's because I'm 70 and know I'm harmless , just kidding. But seriously they sincerely care about their patients. And Dr. Scott is quick, efficient and always very pleasant. If you need a dentist you'll love this office. Updated 8-15-2022

I was a new patient with a broke tooth and they told me come right in they had me taken care of fast!! Everyone was so professional and nice!! Highly recommend!

I enjoyed my experience at River Oaks dentistry. The staff was courteous and the appointment started on time. My hygienist, Jennifer, was very nice and made the experience comfortable and fun. Dr. Scott was professional and walked me through his exam, leaving me feeling confident in my oral health. I would highly recommend River Oaks dentistry!

Easily one of the best dentist I have experienced. Dr. Scott and the team made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. I forget the assistants name (because I am bad with names) but she was perfect in every way. I was in an emergency situation and I was in and out in less than 1 hour. I will and would recommend to everybody.

The staff at River Oaks are truly great. They understand how to make sure you sre comfortable and relaxed . I have some bad history with dentists, but River Oaks sure makes up for them.
