Wisdom teeth get their name from the fact that they usually appear at a later or older stage when compared to the rest of our teeth. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), this normally happens between the ages of 17 and 21. Wisdom teeth are four molars located at the very back of your mouth, but it is not uncommon for people to have less or even no wisdom teeth at all. If you are not able to see them in your mouth, they could still be under your gums, so the best idea is to get an x-ray.

Not everyone will need to have their wisdom teeth removed, but it is a common thing to do since these can start giving you problems at any point in time. Besides feeling pain there are several reasons you may need an extraction. One of the main reasons a wisdom tooth needs to be extracted is because it doesnt have enough room to come out from the gum. Other common issues that will lead to extraction are infections, damage to neighboring teeth, bone loss, or even just for prevention. Even if your wisdom tooth isnt causing a real issue yet, it could still mean trouble in the future. If the tooth is partially out, it could cause bacteria and plaque to build up around it, if the tooth is on its side, it can cause bone loss around the roots. You should always ask your dentist if and when it would be best for you to have them removed.

Once youve had the procedure done, there are a few things you can do to help your mouth heal a bit quicker. Ice, cold packs, and cool water will be your best friends for a couple of days since the cold will help with any soreness and swelling you may have. Try eating soft foods that wont hurt the sensitive area and avoid spicy foods, alcohol, hot beverages, and smoking. The most important thing is to always follow your doctors instructions.

I've had two crowns done here and there always seems to be an issue with something. I waited months for my crown to be ready because I guess the lab didn't send it in the first time. I finally get to my appointment and the crown doesn't even fit my tooth right so I have to wait even longer to get it done the right way. Now, I truly am a patient person and don't mind these things. But the dental assistant basically told me that it was my fault the fitting didn't come out right because my gums were bleeding? Which again I understand that could have been the issue but she made it sound like my bad dental hygiene was the cause of their mistake which rubbed me the wrong way. Also, the staff is unprofessional. I've overheard the girls talking in Spanish about patients and even about the work that's being done. Like hello girls, I can speak Spanish and can understand everything you're saying. For example, I overheard them talking about my x-ray and how something didn't look right and I asked what was going on. She didn't want to tell me but keep whispering about it to her co-worker which made me really uncomfortable. The energy at this facility is overall WEIRD. If you want bottom of the barrel dental care, come here. I can't even complain because look at where IM getting my dental work done at. Don't even get me started with the wait times for scheduling an appointment. The actual dentist is always nice but they get a new one every year so that should tell you something. Don't come here if you want quality dental work

So furious! I loved coming here for 2 years until recently. I got my braces taken off and the girl who did it cracked my good tooth and didn't even have the audacity to let me know. I heard the Crack right there and she still went on about her day. You could have atleast told me u broke my tooth right after getting my braces off!

We both received excellent care and instructions for the services on Labor Day 2022. Normally the office is closed . We are both grateful for the kindness and generosity given to us . We even had a free bacon breakfast burrito to take home and enjoy later. No pressure and very organized event. We didn't mind the 2 hour wait time at all. The staff and volunteers were too notch in helping us. Wish card was filled out I knew who my dentist was. Nothing a phone call doesn't fix. Highly recommend based on this our first visit.

Went there yesterday for the labor of love. Truly surprised with the amount of love they were giving. Not only were they offering water donuts and breakfast burritos but went in and got above and beyond superb service. I couldn't be more thankful to have teeth pulled when it was only supposed to be won and the doctor realized how much pain I was in and pulled the three that were bothering me. Everyone was so polite and respectful. I was overjoyed the feel that way in any business today. Thank you for looking out for all of the people of Tucson and all you do

Went to the Labor of Love event to have a tooth pulled. My tooth was pretty bad off so it took a couple times to get it numb all the way. Super glad Dr. Hooper took the time to make sure the extraction was pain free! 10/10 recommend.
