Wisdom teeth get their name from the fact that they usually appear at a later or older stage when compared to the rest of our teeth. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), this normally happens between the ages of 17 and 21. Wisdom teeth are four molars located at the very back of your mouth, but it is not uncommon for people to have less or even no wisdom teeth at all. If you are not able to see them in your mouth, they could still be under your gums, so the best idea is to get an x-ray.
Not everyone will need to have their wisdom teeth removed, but it is a common thing to do since these can start giving you problems at any point in time. Besides feeling pain there are several reasons you may need an extraction. One of the main reasons a wisdom tooth needs to be extracted is because it doesnt have enough room to come out from the gum. Other common issues that will lead to extraction are infections, damage to neighboring teeth, bone loss, or even just for prevention. Even if your wisdom tooth isnt causing a real issue yet, it could still mean trouble in the future. If the tooth is partially out, it could cause bacteria and plaque to build up around it, if the tooth is on its side, it can cause bone loss around the roots. You should always ask your dentist if and when it would be best for you to have them removed.
Once youve had the procedure done, there are a few things you can do to help your mouth heal a bit quicker. Ice, cold packs, and cool water will be your best friends for a couple of days since the cold will help with any soreness and swelling you may have. Try eating soft foods that wont hurt the sensitive area and avoid spicy foods, alcohol, hot beverages, and smoking. The most important thing is to always follow your doctors instructions.

RISAS is a very good dental office. the only thing I didn't like this time wen my son was ready to be dis charged after having two root canal he still had too much anesthesia in his body and he could not walk or maneuver on his own he is a big &Tall young man. I had problems getting him to & into the Truck they need a wheelchair but overall they were good for him

Every single one of the staff here was amazing, from the moment I walked in to the very back! I do not remember my assistants name sadly but she was great, super knowledgeable and knew exactly how to answer all of my questions, the Dr was so nice made me feel very comfortable, explained everything so thoroughly and even added in some life advice for me that was very needed considering the situation I was in! Thank you Staff for being so gentle, generous and for understanding even when I was an emotional wreck! You all did amazing and really made me feel better about everything.

I went in to get 2 wisdom teeth extracted and I was super nervous. I went in and everyone was super friendly made me feel at ease. The whole process took 30-40 minutes with no paid at all. Of course I felt discomfort after the procedure but Dr. Mack was awesome and very fast!!! Gladys (office manager I believe) was very friendly explaining everything regarding my procedure!! Everyone was SUPER friendly!!

I was super nervous because this was my first surgery but honestly Dr.Mack and his staff made me feel super comfortable! My whole experience in general was amazing from the front office helping me with financing and introducing me to care credit to the assistants explaining everything to me and answered all my questions and lastly the surgeon placed the iv smoothly and I'm super terrified of needles!!! I highly recommend this office !

I had a bad tooth infection to where it swelled my left side of my face and eye, my gums were swollen and had a bad cyst, Dr.Mack and Lily helped guide me through the process and made it as painless and effortless as possible, then they gave me very clear instructions that helped prep me for the healing process...10 out of 10 recommend!

Took my wife here for oral surgery and they were super nice and patient with her! They gave her all the information for the procedure and it calmed her down. The instructions for the after care were given to us and the staff asked if we had any questions. They are also super affordable. Will recommend to all of my friends and family from now on!!

My husband went to the oral surgeon this week and had the most amazing experience! He was very nervous going in, a bit of a worrier for all things medical but also has intense fear of needles. But Risas made it all flawless. The girl at the front counter was friendly and helpful. When my husband went back an assistant assured him she would be with him through the whole procedure and explained things in detail, putting him a little more at ease. Dr Mack was awesome! When he put in the IV my husband didn't even feel it. Dr Mack provided more reassurance and explanations of the procedure. It was over was faster than I expected. Everything went smooth with no complications. In the days since my husband has had hardly any pain. Thank you Risas for helping my husband get out of pain and for being the best OS in the state! I wish I had known about Risas when I had mine done.

Dr Mack was wonderful he had my tooth out in less then 5 min. Very little pain with the shots as well . I am the biggest baby at 61 yrs old and he did such a great job I can't thank him enough. Everyone in the office are wonderful as well very helpful and friendly. Thank you all. If I could give more stars I would that's how good he was
