Wisdom teeth get their name from the fact that they usually appear at a later or older stage when compared to the rest of our teeth. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), this normally happens between the ages of 17 and 21. Wisdom teeth are four molars located at the very back of your mouth, but it is not uncommon for people to have less or even no wisdom teeth at all. If you are not able to see them in your mouth, they could still be under your gums, so the best idea is to get an x-ray.
Not everyone will need to have their wisdom teeth removed, but it is a common thing to do since these can start giving you problems at any point in time. Besides feeling pain there are several reasons you may need an extraction. One of the main reasons a wisdom tooth needs to be extracted is because it doesnt have enough room to come out from the gum. Other common issues that will lead to extraction are infections, damage to neighboring teeth, bone loss, or even just for prevention. Even if your wisdom tooth isnt causing a real issue yet, it could still mean trouble in the future. If the tooth is partially out, it could cause bacteria and plaque to build up around it, if the tooth is on its side, it can cause bone loss around the roots. You should always ask your dentist if and when it would be best for you to have them removed.
Once youve had the procedure done, there are a few things you can do to help your mouth heal a bit quicker. Ice, cold packs, and cool water will be your best friends for a couple of days since the cold will help with any soreness and swelling you may have. Try eating soft foods that wont hurt the sensitive area and avoid spicy foods, alcohol, hot beverages, and smoking. The most important thing is to always follow your doctors instructions.

This dental office is amazing. All the staff give there patients outstanding quality dental care. Dr.Holyoak and Dr. Leary are both amazing doctors and treat the patient with respect and good wonderful care. I would highly recommend coming here for dental and orthodontic care.

Absolutely the best place to go. Went years ago but never went back to get the work done I needed (my fault) finally went back due to pain (multiple broken teeth constantly hurting). Wasn't expecting the extractions to be done at the time but doc was ready to do it right then and there. I have anxiety when it comes to medical stuff and they were great. So happy they are finally out and I won't be in pain anymore. This place is amazing and I always recommend to others.

Very friendly staff!! Super helpful and attentive!! Very accommodating, they go out of their way to get you in for appointments even when you have unexpected life things come up, they still find a way to fit you in somewhere. I had an appointment here today for an exam and within the 5 minutes I sat waiting for my appointment I was shocked by how rude Dr. Larry was to his front office staff. All of the front office girls look miserable and I don't blame them! A patient came in because a bracket came off and the Dr super rudely asked the front office girl "where is the patient" the girl was trying to direct him to the patient and explain the situation and with a terrible attitude and rude tone of voice he interrupted her and said "you don't have to tell me anything. I'll just fix it" and walked away. I got up and asked for his name and cancelled my appointment. Definitely don't want him anywhere near me!
