Wisdom teeth get their name from the fact that they usually appear at a later or older stage when compared to the rest of our teeth. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), this normally happens between the ages of 17 and 21. Wisdom teeth are four molars located at the very back of your mouth, but it is not uncommon for people to have less or even no wisdom teeth at all. If you are not able to see them in your mouth, they could still be under your gums, so the best idea is to get an x-ray.

Not everyone will need to have their wisdom teeth removed, but it is a common thing to do since these can start giving you problems at any point in time. Besides feeling pain there are several reasons you may need an extraction. One of the main reasons a wisdom tooth needs to be extracted is because it doesnt have enough room to come out from the gum. Other common issues that will lead to extraction are infections, damage to neighboring teeth, bone loss, or even just for prevention. Even if your wisdom tooth isnt causing a real issue yet, it could still mean trouble in the future. If the tooth is partially out, it could cause bacteria and plaque to build up around it, if the tooth is on its side, it can cause bone loss around the roots. You should always ask your dentist if and when it would be best for you to have them removed.

Once youve had the procedure done, there are a few things you can do to help your mouth heal a bit quicker. Ice, cold packs, and cool water will be your best friends for a couple of days since the cold will help with any soreness and swelling you may have. Try eating soft foods that wont hurt the sensitive area and avoid spicy foods, alcohol, hot beverages, and smoking. The most important thing is to always follow your doctors instructions.

If you are looking for routine Competent dental health visits, go somewhere else. This clinic, and all the other locations, have an absurd wait time to get seen. I tried to make an appointment back in October and they told me they didn't have any appointments at all and to call when the December schedule opened up. I called, but apparently all of the appointments had already been taken. How are appointments 2 months away taken up already? Any person you talk to at Risas Dental is also condescending and act like you are wasting their time even though it is their job to help you schedule appointments. I went to a different dentist and they had so many appointments available that they could have gotten me in the day I called. The technicians at all the locations also don't know what they are doing and will also be condescending when you tell them about any dental problems you have. I got my wisdom teeth removed here and I asked if I would be getting antibiotics and a Syringe to help rinse and prevent infection. The dentist laughed and said that wasn't necessary. 2 days later, my face was extremely swollen and pus was coming out of the incision site. I went in as a walk in and they told me that was part of the healing process. I went AGAIN when the pain was absolutely unbearable and they finally gave me a Syringe to help clean the incision site and very reluctantly wrote me a prescription for antibiotics a week after my procedure. The only good thing they can do is that they are bilingual, but that doesn't matter when the care you get is awful. Like I said, if you want competent dental health, go elsewhere.

I highly do not recommend this facility. The admin/clerical staff do not take into consideration how difficult it is to get into dental office. This office takes advantage of the underserved community/patients. prioritizing self and private insurance patient. We were rescheduled twice after our initial screening visit . With the information that a Prior Authorization needed to be obtain for the extraction procedure. Totally understandable! When the Prior Authorization was "obtain" per the office. An office visit was rescheduled. At the time of the appointment we were informed that the Prior Authorization was never obtained and the visit needed to be rescheduled. During the this process our visit was rescheduled two more times with the excuse the Prior Authorization was not obtain. This was all in the process of 1yr. A new Appt was scheduled for the yearly dental check up. once again when arriving to the office we were informed that our visit needed to be rescheduled due to a Prior Authorization needed to be obtained. We were also informed that we had rescheduled several times. We wonder if the times the staff rescheduled our Appt they marked it as we rescheduled. When it really was the facility. Now our dental needs have increased with more severe dental repair needed. Initially we chose this practice due to having convenient hours. Unfortunately they did not provide any good dental health services. I highly encourage anyone experiencing similar situation to also contact their insurance provider and also give feedback on their experience. In hopes this creates some awareness to this team in this practice ,of all the loop holes and barriers they have the patients go through in order to receive dental care.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Dr Nguyen is UNPROFESSIONAL and UNQUALIFIED. My son was having his braces done by her and she terminated treatment because i wanted him to be seen every 6 weeks instead of every 12 weeks.
