Dr. Jonathan K. James is originally from Covington, Louisiana, about 30 miles north of New Orleans. He is co-owner of Rio Vista Dentistry in Harlingen, Texas where he practices cosmetic, restorative, TMJ/Facial Pain and implant dentistry. He obtained his bachelor of science degree in Biology in 1995 from Grambling State University and his doctor of dental surgery degree in 2000 from Marquette University School of Dentistry, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 2007, after practicing for seven years in Dallas, Texas, Dr. James, his wife Daneen and daughter Jordan relocated to Harlingen, Texas, to join the Rio Vista Dentistry team.
Dr. James has completed countless advanced continuing education courses over the years, ranging from the Center for Aesthetic Restorative Dentistrys restorative and masters series in Dallas, Texas to the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Studies in Key Biscayne, Florida. In addition, he completed a yearlong 300 hours surgical maxicourse (TEXMAX) through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and successfully passed the two-part credentialing exam which designates him as an Associate Fellow in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He continues to expand his skills and services by investing in extensive continuing education annually.
Just as Dr. James believes in the importance of continuing education to advance his training to better serve his patients, he believes it is just as important to give back to his profession through teaching and training other dental professionals. Dr. James has become a sought after motivational speaker, lecturer and presenter in the dental field. He has served as a mentor/visiting faulty for CERECDoctors.com in Scottsdale, Arizona since 2012 and lecturing for multiple local and state dental organizations such as the global dental implant company, Nobel Biocare. He has been voted to the Super Dentists lists in Texas Monthly Magazine by his dental colleagues for three consecutive years and is a member of the Future Leaders Advisory Council. He has also presented at the annual Dentists Who Care Conference, the Rio Grande Valley Dental Society and the South Texas Chapter of the Seattle Study Club, and the Texas Dental Associations annual meeting.
