Dr. Steven Smullin is a board-certified, dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon, holding both a dental and medical degree. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Smullin founded Ridgefield Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2019 after having practiced in Fairfield County for 8 years.
Dr. Smullin first obtained his dental degree from Temple University in 2001 where he was valedictorian of his class. Dr. Smullin then completed his specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2007 at Massachusetts General Hospital, during which time he obtained a medical degree from Harvard Medical School. His training included rotations at prestigious institutions such as Boston Childrens Hospital and Brigham and Womens Hospital.
Immediately following his training, Dr. Smullin founded an oral and maxillofacial surgery service at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA. In subsequent private practice, Dr. Smullin enjoys the wide scope of the specialty and has a special interest in treating children. He enjoys both routine surgical procedures as well as complex reconstruction of the jaws which includes dental implants and advanced grafting procedures.

My 17 year old son needed 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed this summer. All appointments went very smoothly and Dr. Smullen was very gentle and reassuring during the whole process. We felt very well taken care off and the whole office staff was wonderful also. The doctor really listened to the young patient and we can truly recommend his services to our Ridgefield community.

I recently went in to have all four wisdom teeth surgically removed by Dr. Smullin and his staff. Initially, I was quite nervous as I have not had any major surgical procedures in my lifetime. Dr. Smullin and his staff were extremely comforting and made the experience as relaxing and calming as possible, constantly reassuring me that I would be alright. I even received a phone call from Dr. Smullin himself the night after my surgery to personally check in with me to make sure I was not experiencing any discomfort. Within two days I was back on my feet with minimal pain. Dr. Smullin and his staff are truly exceptional and I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism and support! Amazing people and facility I would highly recommend!

I am 62 years old, I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted. a couple of weeks ago. What a wonderful experience!! I was nervous at first but the Dr and his assistants helped me to feel comfortable. The offices are so clean. All four wisdom teeth were extracted on the same day. Within a few days I felt no pain - what a great job! Thank you so so much Doctor and your staff - I am so grateful!!!

What a great experience. The staff is knowledgeable, Dr. Smullin is amazing and the office is spotless. They take great pride in doing it right the first time. Wisdom teeth were pulled without any pain and the healing process was exceptional. Definitely will recommend.

I was referred to Dr. Smullin by my family dentist as wel as my endodontist, who performed a root canal, which revealed a cracked tooth that could not support a crown and it's extraction was necessary. My first experience with Dr. Smullin was excellent. His staff was the best that one would want to experience and the tooth extraction was a painless piece of cake. I highly recommend Dr. Smullin, who is not only a skilled oral surgeon, he's also a down to earth person with great bedside manner.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Smullin and his staff. We have been to see him twice for my son. My little guy is 8 years old and had to have an emergency extraction due to a painful abscess, and the office staff worked with the Dr to get him in... that SAME day!! They already had a busy schedule but were incredibly accommodating in every way! From the lovely woman at the front desk who was so helpful, understanding an patient, to the nurses to stood at my sons side and simply caressed his head and gave him assurance during the whole procedure. And Dr. Smullin for being so friendly and putting my son and I at ease. Not to mention the level of care & cleanliness, especially during this pandemic... And did I mention, my son wanted to stay and spend the day with the Dr & staff??? Unheard of! haha They are simply an OUTSTANDING practice. Nothing short of EXTRAORDINARY. This mommy is eternally grateful and highly recommends them!

The office is immaculate and every precaution has been taken with regard to COVID protocol. The staff was warm and welcoming and the overall experience was an extremely positive one. Dr. Smullin removed my son's wisdom teeth two weeks ago today. He and his office staff were nothing short of wonderful. They were completely flexible with scheduling, incredibly professional and made an unpleasant situation (wisdom teeth removal) as painless and easy as possible. I was a little hesitant having this procedure done during the Covid-19 crisis, but their office was sparkling clean and their safety protocols diligently executed. I got my wisdom teeth removed last week, and I could not have had a better surgeon than Dr. Smullin. I tend to get very nervous before anything like this, but Dr. Smullin and his team were all so kind and calm and helpful. They easily do whatever it takes to make you comfortable every time you come. The environment there was very welcoming and not nerve-wracking at all, as well as super clean. I was also nervous about the aftermath of the surgery, but the procedure was done so precisely and cleanly that I only had minimal pain and just a bit of swelling for a couple of days. The whole process was so much easier and quicker than I ever thought. I would highly recommend going to Dr. Smullin for oral surgery.
