I love being able to help a person get a beautiful smile using the minimal amount of dentistry. I believe in what I do for people, and get excited when patients get the smile they have always wanted. Patients health comes first. I spend time so that you know what needs to be done and why. You ultimately choose what you want. I will discuss all of your options to arrive at your goals. I have been a dentist in Santa Cruz for over 30 years, and I love what I do. I am especially dedicated to the patient who needs special attention because of health needs or fear. I have special hospital training and keep up in medicine so I understand what issues need to be addressed, and how it feels. Trust is something I earn from each patient. Our relationship grows form there.
Dr. Smith enjoys being with his family and is eager to show you pictures of them, including his dogs. I have seven children, three girls, four boys, and one granddaughter. I like motorcycles and ride both on road and off. I am a master scuba diver and dive mostly in Monterey Bay.

Our dedicated and motivated staff has one primary goal your utmost comfort! We feel its important that you understand the treatment that youll be receiving so that you can relax during the procedure. Sherrie is our office manager and we have various financial plans that can assist you.
Our staff is eager to answer any questions regarding your dental care. Please feel free to share with us your needs and concerns. Labris is our scheduling coordinator and can answer most questions about what might be involved with any certain treatment or will direct you to the staff member including Dr. Rick Smith for clarification.
We love what we do, and it shows on our faces it seems were always smiling around here. Youll find our staff is friendly and up-beat and well do our best to make your visit comfortable, and even fun! Dr. Smith is the best Dentist I have ever had. He is gentle and does excellent work. I love all his staff too. They are all very friendly, and make you feel comfortable to be there. The Doc's choice in music they have on can't be beat too! You'll be tapping your toes, and there is lots of laughter there too :) Best Dentist Ever!!!

Dr. Rick Smith replaced my crown with superb skill and care. I was comfortable during the procedure, and felt complete confidence in Dr. Smith's abilities. He is a great dentist, and also a great guy. I recommend him whole heartedly!

Dr Smith is the best dentist I have ever been to. I travel a lot but always get back to Santa Cruz for my checkups. He is kind, funny and very caring. His staff policies must be good as they stay and those who leave for a while go back to him. We always manage to work out affordable prices for my treatments. I really appreciate this man

Top notch care from someone who really does. I've been fortunate to have had Rick as a dentist from the start of his practice. He's always had a congenial approach, with humor and a great smile, of course. I am definitely biased. Rick has supported my work as a visual artist, collecting marine-themed works on paper and canvas since the mid 80's. Visiting his office, like a gallery, is truly a visit with old friends.

Dr Smith has been seeing me for about two years now and I couldn't be happier. This last visit I needed to have a couple teeth crowned. The crowns I had installed 8 years ago from a different dentist disintegrated so Dr smith had to clean up the mess and start with making new crowns. I'm making this sound simple but was a pretty involved process just to get the teeth ready to accept new crowns. The process was quick and painless! I was having dinner with a couple hours too. Highly recommend.
