Many modern parents struggle with the decision of where and when to take their child(ren) to the dentist, often-times due to their own personal dental fears or knowing they only want the very best care for their little one. The pediatric dentists at Atkins, Maestrello, Miller and Associates and the orthodontists at Richmond Orthodontics have teamed up to provide our community with great dental care and now call themselves RPDO, Richmond Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.
The owners, who have been treating children for a combined 150 years, thought long and hard about the idea of a combined childrens dentistry model before they knew it really needed to happen for the Richmond Community. Modern parents have many important decisions to make for their families, and finding the very best dentist and orthodontist for their child(ren) is on that list. As dentists, we witness the struggle modern parents face surrounding dental and orthodontic care for their children. Which dentist should I take my child to? When should I start taking my child to the dentist? When should I start thinking about braces? What if me, my spouse, or my friend want braces too?Will the dental office locations and office hours fit with my day-to-day schedule?RPDO hopes to take the guesswork out of all of these questions.
RPDOs mission is to provide our community with life-defining, quality oral care in a caring environment. The two practices have been serving the dental needs of hundreds of thousands of children in the Richmond community for over 100 years.
RPDOs goals are rooted in connecting with others and helping all members of the community receive the dental care they deserve. Our pediatric dentists and orthodontists enjoy empowering their patients, from infancy to teenage/adult years and encouraging them to learn and grow in confidence, which supports long term, healthy behaviors. We view it as our responsibility to maintain an ongoing conversation about dental health with our community so that they have a lasting impression on how to care for themselves.
After your babys first birthday, our pediatric dentists will help your family navigate the world of going to the dentist for the first time. We will then teach your child(ren) that going to the dentist does not need to be a fear-filled, nerve-racking experience, but instead a learning, joy-filled, and rewarding visit. By the time your child(ren) are ready for braces, our dentists will have already been in conversation with you, which will make the transition smooth, patient-focused, and minimize the time your child will spend in braces. Our orthodontists spend much of their time treating adults as well as children, making it even more convenient for families. We recognize your family time is valuable and we hope to make your decision of where to take your child an easy, stress-free, and exceptional experience.

This was our first experience with a pediatric dentist. My son was very nervous but everyone was so patient and kind to him. I am very pleased with our overall experience! The staff here clearly know what they are doing when it comes to working with children.

We always enjoy our dental experience here. The staff is wonderful with the kids, and I appreciate that they take time to talk to my teenager about how to take care of his teeth. Great staff. Highly recommended.

My kids went to another office on Gaskin Rd since 2012. It is always a quick visit, even though it is far from me; waiting time is always around 5 mins. The dentist and all the staffs are very nice all time. I have been to Midlothian office twice and it is the same and It is remarkable great offices.

Thank you to the entire team and to Dr. Liz for being so patient and kind, esp with the littlest patients! The way you all take the time to connect with my 3yo, explain everything, and put her at ease with each appointment is SO appreciated. I know the practice is super busy, but not once have we felt rushed. Thank you for creating a such a safe & fun environment for the kiddos!

Dr. Ray and all of the Dental assistants at Richmond pediatric dentistry are AMAZING! We have a large family and we are always able to get them scheduled on the same day and around the same time... the staff are patient and kind and work thoroughly and quickly with each of my children, they answer all of my questions and meet my concerns and my children we questions with explanations that are informative, educational and not in a way that makes us feel Less than! This facility and Dr Ray will be our favorite forever and we never plan to leave and have been plotting on ways to keep our growing children under her care for as long as possible! This is the most amazing experience we've had in Virginia so far! Thank you Dr. Ray and team! You're the BEST!

Our family absolutely adores Richmond Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. We have taken all of our children to this practice. I highly recommend our dentist, Dr. Reham AlNajjar. SHE IS AMAZING!!! She is a pediatric dentist who is highly skilled and good with children. Our one child has a LOT of dental anxiety. Due to various reasons, that child needed to have routine dental work performed under General Anesthesia (in a hospital). Note: We first tried nitrous gas as well as a liquid sedative, but the child could not tolerate either and ended up throwing up. Both hospital procedures went flawlessly, and I am very grateful that I had Richmond Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics by my side during these stressful times. They were patient and supportive both while providing medical care and while fielding my phone calls and emails as I worked to get the medical care approved by our insurance. I want to name the following wonderful people at the practice; I am probably missing some people, and I am sorry. These people are caring, patient, and capable. Some of these people may not be at the practice anymore (we have been patients for a long time!): Dr. Reham AlNajjar (We love you!!) Dr. Malinda Husson Stacey Clements Jennifer Adams Monica As I mentioned earlier, my children's dentist is Dr. Reham, and she has wonderful bedside manner and infinite patience. She and the dental hygienists do a great job establishing rapport with my children. I appreciate that the staff patiently answer my children's questions. I also appreciate that the practice sends text reminders for appointments. I wish I could give them even more then 5 stars. I highly recommend this practice to any parent but especially parents with children who have sensory issues or dental anxiety.

They were not honest. My child went back to get X-rays done and came out with bruises on her face and she had peed in her pants . This let me know that she was so upset that she couldn't wait to go to the bathroom. They did not come get me , they brought her back out in a wheelchair . When I asked about the bruises I received no answers until three days later . On top of that Dr. Eddleton stated that she had no idea what happened because she was not in the room. The people seemed very nice at first but apparently things occur in the back while you are in the waiting room. I had wrote a previous post about how kind they were and nice . I apologize to those 279 views and I hope that your children were treated better than mine . Please read this carefully my child had bruises on her face and again IT TOOK THEEE DAYS for someone to call me back and still they had no answers. Also, the only reason someone called me back was because I had to call a different office because the Richmond office on the West End was not responding. I called a different office and someone in management by chance was answering the phone because the front desk was short . Once I explain to the person what happened then I started to receive phone calls. By day four they tired to explain " what they think happened " . Do not send your babies to this dentist office . This occurred in fall of 2021 and my daughter still gets upset when mentioning the dentist office. For those in management you welcome to ask Sam and Dr.Eddleton about this as well.

Our children are always excited to visit with Dr Eddleton and staff!! All 3 children had X-rays, cleanings and our 6 year old had her first two teeth pulled all in one visit. Dr Eddleton and staff ensured her it would be quick with little to no pain and it was a GREAT experience for her. She was so excited about her visit from the tooth fairy!!

They were incredible and so patient with my two year old son's first visit. They made us both feel at ease. From the receptionist, to the hygienist, to the dentist herself-- everyone was so kind and welcoming. Very happy we found Richmond Pediatric Dentistry.
