Getting patients involved in their treatment is my goal. I enjoy teaching patients about their treatment and how orthodontics works. As my patients knowIll talk about teeth all day long if they let me!
Orthodontic technology and treatments are always improving. Learning about the newest technologies is exciting. As the field of orthodontics advances, orthodontists are able to make changes not possible before while making treatment faster and more comfortable.
I grew up on a family farm in Centerville, Indiana. After graduating from Centerville High School, I attended Purdue University on a Lilly Endowment Scholarship. I attended Indiana University School of Dentistry, where I was honored to selected as a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a dental honor fraternity. For my orthodontic residency, I traveled to Philadelphia to study at Temple University. At Temple, I received my Master degree and Orthodontic certificate. After graduating, I couldnt wait to return to the Midwest and to my home.
I enjoy being involved in our local and statewide organizations. Education has always been important to me, so I serve as a board member on theCenterville-Abington Dollars for Scholarschapter. Given my love of all things dental, it is no surprise that Im a member of the Eastern Indiana Dental Society, our local dental organization. At the state level, I am the Central Director in theIndiana Association of Orthodontics, where I represent a large group of Indiana orthodontists.
I really do have interests besides teeth. I love running, hiking, baking and making jewelry. My husband Steve and I are kept busy by our daughter, Claire, and our adorablelabradorretriever, Logan. Steve and I met as students at Purdue University; most of our first dates involved studying at the library. Previously, Steve was a submarine officer in the Navy; now he is an IT manager for a pharmaceutical company.
In 1989 I began working in orthodontics. Little didI know how much I would love orthodontics. I enjoy seeing the transformation our patients go through. It is gratifying to watch our patients grow more confident as their treatment progresses.
My husband and I have three grown children, twobeautiful granddaughters, and two bonus step grandsons. We all love getting together as a family and spending time hanging out by the pool. I also enjoy gardening and cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins!
I knew when I was a junior in high school that I wanted to work in orthodontics. I started orthodontic treatment that year and I fell in love with the whole process. Now, I get joy in watching our patients see their own progress at each visit.
I would have never guessed when I was younger that Id be in the dental field. I love watching every minute of our patients transformations. This is a really rewarding job. Before starting at ROS I was an intern at a general dental office; orthodontics is way more fun!
Im not married, but I hope I will be in the near future! I have one fur baby, a chocolate lab. In my free time I love finding great deals at TJ Maxx, baking, playing fetch with my dog, and going to dirt car races with my boyfriend.
They say happiness starts with a smile, and that is true. A beautiful smile is one of the first things I notice when I meet someone. Working in an orthodontic office is rewarding because I can watch a patients increase in confidence as his or her smile improves.
Chris, my other half, is the Operations Manager at Woodruff Corp. and we have two kids in college. We are trying to get used to being empty nesters. We would like to start traveling to places that we have never visited. When I am not at ROS I enjoy spending time outdoors, crafting, and camping.
I was a dental assistant for seven years prior to starting at Richmond Orthodontic Specialists. This is my first experience with orthodontics so I love seeing our patients reactions when their braces come off.
