Dr. Richard W. Kaplan is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist and is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Kaplan graduated from the University of Witwatersrand Dental School in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He obtained his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed an internship in general surgery at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas Texas. Dr. Kaplan then completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida, as well as a fellowship in facial deformities at the same institute.
Dr. Kaplan is a licensed physician and dentist in the state of Florida. Dr. Kaplan is uniquely qualified as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon as he possesses both a Medical (MD) and Dental (DDS) degree distinguishing him in his field.
Dr. Kaplan holds several positions at St. Marys Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida including: Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and he is the Division Director and Head of the Department of Surgery. He is also a member of the Medical Executive Committee at St. Marys Medical Center.

Dr. Kaplan and his staff are incredible! All four of my children needed to have their wisdom teeth removed within the last 2 years. From the moment my family walked into his office we felt at home. The entire staff made us feel safe & comfortable from beginning to end. Dr.Kaplan explained the procedure in a very clear manner & took the time to answer all our questions regarding prep, surgery and follow-up. He is very professional, patient, and kind. My children received outstanding medical care in a safe, clean, and loving environment. Dr. Kaplan's team is really what separates this office from others! We had an amazing experience and absolutely love him and his friendly staff. I highly recommend Dr. Kaplan and his team.They are truly the best!

We chose not to have oral surgery here, so this review is based on PRICE ONLY. The cost to have four wisdom teeth removed was $1800 MORE than the cost at another highly rated oral surgeon in the area. A quick Google search for the average price of wisdom teeth removal showed that this surgeon was way out of line. Additionally, we felt that when we told them we were choosing not to use Dr. Kaplan's services, the $150 consultation fee charged was very pricey for the doctor's ten minutes of time. Of course a consult fee seems fair, but we felt overcharged especially since they didn't even do x-rays. Seemed like a nice enough staff, though, but so are those of more affordable local doctors.

This doctor and his staff members are the best!!! I could not have picked a better place and doctor to get my wisdom teeth surgery with. As uncomfortable as the experience could be, Dr. Kaplan and his team made the procedure and recovery so easy for me. They calmed me down so well since I'm needle-phobic. They made me feel so welcomed and important here since the first appointment. He took his time to explain thoroughly the procedure, pros and cons. Few hours after my surgery, he truly cared about me and called me himself to follow up. He also did not hesitate to take me in for a follow-up visit days later. This is by far the best oral surgeon in the area and the quality of their service is all you ever want as a patient.

An honest, thoughtful and great surgeon! 20ish years ago had my wisdom teeth removed without any issues and went back to him for additional work, again without any problems! Highly recommend!
