Dr. Nichols is the BEST dentist I have ever been to. I'm 78 now and have seen plenty in many parts of California. Dr Nichols expertise and gentleness is beyond compare.

Beware before booking an appointment. Potential clients should be aware that Dr. Nichols, although properly credentialed, was difficult to deal with, has always been a very poor listener, and unquestionably overcharged me for services he rendered. I have had my semi annual dental cleaning with Dr. Nichols for several years and I will definitely not return after todays appointment. Why would I do this? I have never done anything like this during my 71 years. This is why: I live outside of California part of the year and have another dentist who does my routine xrays and my other semi annual dental hygiene. That dentist is very careful and comprehensive. My Xrays were normal 6 months ago and have been normal over several years. My teeth are generally quite healthy, I have no complaints, I am careful to brush and floss at least twice daily. I take my dental hygiene seriously. I have explained all of this to Dr. Nichols every visit for several years. Today, Dr. nichols refused to do a "dental examination" without seeing xrays. He then reluctantly agreed to clean my teeth, but when he did, he only cleaned the lower front teeth and did not make any effort to "scale" (clean) the others. Then he polished all my teeth. The entire visit took no more than 25 minutes, at least five of which were taken up by me again explaining I have another dentist out of town who sees me every year, refusing more xrays required for todays examination, and declining additional services he advised despite me telling him once again I did not want those services. Then, I was charged $138.00 for the very limited cleaning I received. And, this charge did NOT include a dental examination. My experience with all other dentists has been good and i have most certainly received better quality care than i received today. Although I consider the charge excessive, it really is the poor quality of care I received that drives my decision not to return. I do not want to repeat this experience. It was unacceptable.
