Richard J. Healy, DDS Dr. Richard J. Healy graduated from University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry in 1982. Upon graduation, he joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and served as a volunteer dentist in the central valley of California for one very rewarding year.
After this service was completed, he moved to the central California coast.Santa Maria has been his home since 1983. He and his wife have been married since 1988 and have two children, both of whom are college graduates.
In his free time, he is involved with the Kiwanis Club of Orcutt, playing basketball at the Y, church activities, backpacking, hiking, time at the beach, wine tasting and just spending time with family and friends.
HelenRDA Helen graduated from the Cerritos College Dental Assisting Program as a registered dental assistant. She has been working for Dr. Healy since 1994. Helen is married and has one son. She has lived in Santa Maria since 1992. She enjoys scrapbooking, shopping and travel.
FrancescaRDHAP Francesca is a 1994 graduate of the dental hygiene program at Cabrillo College and in 2003 she obtained her advanced degree as an RDHAP (Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice). Because of this advanced degree, Francesca is also a traveling dental hygienist who serves homebound clients and residents of care facilities for the elderly. In her free time, she enjoys gourmet cooking, gardening, volunteering and fundraising for her favorite charities. She also enjoys traveling with her husband all over the world.
HeatherRDH Heather has been working in dentistry since 2001 and joined Dr. Healy as a dental Hhgienist in 2007. In her free time, Heather enjoys many outdoor activities, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
AnaRDA Ana graduated from Allan Hancock College Dental Assisting Program as a registered dental assistant and started working for Dr. Healy in 2015. She was born and raised in Santa Maria. Ana enjoys shopping, traveling and spending time with her daughter.
CortneyRDH Cortney graduated from the San Joaquin Valley College Dental hygiene program and started working for Dr. Healy in 2020. She was born and raised in Santa Maria. When Cortney is not at the office she enjoys hiking, traveling, baking and spending time with her friends and family.
AshleyBusiness Manager Ashley will be the first to greet you with a friendly smile when you visit our office. She joined the dental field in 2008 working in the front office. As a longtime resident of Santa Maria, she enjoys the weather of the Central Coast and spending time with her loved ones. In her free time, she likes to scrapbook, listen to music, go to concerts and work on home improvements. Ashley will be able to help you with any questions you may have about our office, insurances we accept or billing inquiries.

I am 79 years old and have lived in the "four corners" (Florida, New Hampshire, Washington State and California) of the United States. I recently moved into the central coast from San Diego. My previous dentist was excellent. I was very nervous about starting up with a new dentist. Richard Healy and his staff are perfectionists. I wish he could be my general practitioner! His X-ray technician for full mouth coverage was the most thorough person I have ever had. His follow up full mouth examination was the most thorough I have ever experienced! Lastly, his dental hygienist was as good as any I have ever had. I have just had a recent appointment (10/26/21) with Dr. Healy's dental hygienist Francesca followed by his usual full mouth checkup, and a fluoride treatment. This is one dentist you can trust. Several months ago, I was having a problem with a 5 tooth crown (in my mouth for 41 years). I thought it might have to be removed and replaced at great cost. He told me to not be so hasty. I used Crest Gum Detoxify which was in a sample packet given to me by his hygienist and followed the hygienist's instructions on brushing. The problem has since disappeared! I never have liked going to the dentist but Dr. Healy's family dentistry group make you feel like family. **Latest appointment(4/27/22) involving a problem with a three tooth crown created with a 3D printer: I thought I had cracked or loosened the crown while eating some raw almonds. I had intermittent pain for about a month. After a teeth cleaning and X-ray examination (showing no damage) both the hygienist(Francesca) and Dr. Healy gave me independent but identical analyses of what might have caused my pain. They both exhibited excellent deductive reasoning that put me at ease! ***10/18/22, Dr. Healy has retired, but his replacement Christiane Trigueros is just as thorough, highly skilled(my girlfriend had two difficult new crowns implanted a day before my visit) and caring ( she called my girlfriend the day after the procedure to see if she was OK). Also, Dr. Trigueros is a lot cuter than Dr. Healy! My dental hygienist, Francesca is the best that I have ever had. She is extremely thorough and knows how to use her equipment, plus the science that went into developing it. She is also not afraid to scold you for lax dental hygiene practices. She does offer good tips to correct bad habits!

They are on time for your appointment. Dr. Healy, his assistant and his hygienist are very friendly. They give good suggestions for any additional issues you might have.

Dr. Healy has been my dentist for over 10 years. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Dr. Healy and his staff are courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. Dr. Healy and his staff use the most up to date equipment and I place complete faith in their level of competency.

I called them to see if they accepted my insurance before making an appointment and they assured me they did. Well i am new in town and at the initial visit i told the dr about the last exerience i had and how i couldnt find a specialist in network to do some dental work i needed done, so i had to pay extra as a result. He engaged in conversarion with me and never told me he didnt either. My husband and i went together, then we came back for teeth cleaning and had future appointments set but got a big bill from them. I called to see why and was told they are not contracted with my insurance. So in other words, they lied to me when i asked them if they accepted my insurance. They are playing on words with their customers and to me this is shady and wrong because i believe they knew exactly what i was asking them. I don't trust that they will tell me the truth. Dishonesty is a turnoff for me, so i will be looking elsewhere for my dental needs. Very diappointed customer here!

Dr. Healy and team are phenomenal! I found this office as I transitioned to local care from my longtime dentist. Both care and safety are important to me. After reading reviews and seeing descriptive COVID precautions I scheduled a new patient visit. After numerous visits to get my dental care back on track (avoided due to COVID), I appreciate the consistent treatment each time I visit or interact with this office. It truly is important to each person in this office to provide quality care. I am an anxious person and was put at ease by not feeling rushed when I had questions and hearing each step of the process as I had work done so I knew what was going on. Whether it's a phone call to manage scheduling or Dr. Healy taking the time to stop by to say hello during a cleaning, I feel each staff member is invested in making sure every interaction is a thoughtful, positive one.
