Dr. Ankrom grew up in Sonora and graduated from Sonora High School. After she graduated from Sonora High, she attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Ankrom worked as a biomedical engineer for a couple years primarily designing and performing neuro research with wireless EEG headsets on veterans.
While she enjoyed engineering, she chose to pursue dentistry as a career because of her desire to apply science and art to improve the quality of life of patients.Dr. Ankrom received her dental degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry. Upon graduation, she was one of 10 students in her class selected to be a member of the UCLA Chapter of the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. She chose to further her education after dental school by completing a General Practice Residency at the West Los Angeles VA Hospital. During her residency, she gained experience and knowledge to treat complex cases involving extensive restorative and surgical needs.
Now, Dr. Ankrom is returning home to Sonora, CA to provide dental care to the community that raised her. Outside of the office, you can find her running, cycling, baking, playing board games, walking her dogs and completing puzzles with family.
Dr. Richard Emery graduated from Loma Linda University in 1977. He has been in his current location in Sonora since 1990. From 2007-2009, Dr. Emery was an Associate Professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Since he began practicing dentistry, Dr. Emery continues to keep up on all current and new technologies, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care possible. In 2010, Dr. Emery completed the One Year Surgical Program at the Misch International Implant Institute and continues to advance his skills in Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Emery and Jeanette Emery, one of the dental hygienist in our practice, have been working together as a team since 1977. Dr. Emery and Jeanette have two sons, Ben and Phil. Ben is a dentist in Casper, WY. He and his wife, Nicole, have two children, Jett and Nixon. Phil is a commercial real estate broker in San Diego. He and his wife, Kristy, have two children, Lily and Bennett.
A hometown girl, raised in Sonora. My husband and I took a little adventure and lived in the frozen tundra before returning to Sonora to work for my childhood dentist. I have been an assistant for 13 years and love getting to know and helping our patients. When I am not working, I enjoy the outdoors, traveling and getting together with family and friends.
Happily living in Sonora after having lived and experienced life in different parts of the world. I attended college in Napa Valley and university in Southern California. After school, my husband and I moved to Canada for four years. Portugal was our next adventure where we built and operated a waterslide park for two and a half years. We returned home to Sonora where we raised two boys and a menagerie of animals. Now I enjoy the great outdoors, friends, cooking, and working at the office with my exceptionally talented and fun colleagues (the boss is also quite good). The best part of my job is interacting with my patients and hearing about their fascinating lives.
I was raised in Sonora and graduated from Summerville High School. Ive been in the dental field for 18 years! I enjoy crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baseball and most of all spending time with my family. I am married and have two girls and love watching them grow and learn new things. I love being outdoors, taking trips, and exploring. I am a huge animal lover, and I have three dogs and two cats. Being able to help others is a huge passion of mine. I will always treat people (especially our patients) the way I would want to be treated if I were in their position!!
Born and raised here in Sonora, and loving life in this small town. I graduated from Sonora High School and later moved to Santa Rosa, California in order to attend college. I then moved to Capitola, California to complete my dental hygiene degree. After graduating from Cabrillo College I moved right back here. In my spare time, I enjoy camping, road-tripping, spending time with loved ones, and chasing a good sunset every so often. It is a privilege to be working in this office that I grew up coming to. I look forward to meeting all of Dr. Emerys wonderful patients!
As the newest member of the team, Holly joined the office in 2019 as head of public relations. Her responsibilities include greeting patients, making people smile, providing dog cuddles, and befriending cats. Her favorite pastimes are napping, cuddling, barking at deer, and tackling cats.
Tux joined the office in 2018. As head of security at the office, his responsibilities include keeping everyone on schedule, sleeping, and getting belly rubs. His favorite pastimes are sleeping in, snoring, and searching for food scraps.

I've had a great experience with Dr. Emery's office. They were able to work me in quickly for an appointment when I was in pain. I wanted a second opinion on a root canal and the Dr was very honest with me about the pros of a root canal vs other alternatives. I scheduled an appointment for the root canal pretty quickly and was quoted a much lower price that the previous office I visited. The previous office wanted to refer me to someone else to do the root canal portion but Dr Emery was able to preform the root canal and crown all within his own office. I was extremely anxious about the procedure, but Dr Emery and his staff made me feel super comfortable. I also tend to gag a lot during dental work but they were so patient and accommodating while they quickly worked. I felt like I was in the best hands and very comfortable, which meant a lot since I am also 23 weeks pregnant. Would definitely recommend Dr Emery and his great staff!

I found Dr. Emery after getting a very high price for a permanent filling from Twaim Harte Family Dentistry at $685. Came to Dr. Emery and his great staff. Same work, only came to $181. What a great place!

Also having adorable boston terriers sit in my lap while I got my teeth cleaned made me less anxious and happy to be there.

Dr. Emery is a very good dentist. He always worked on me with dental loupes (these are the magnifying glasses). He didn't run from room to room, he didn't chit chat he kept his mind on his work. I believe he is more concerned about your health than he is about money, really! His work is about as good as it gets. Yes I recommend Dr. Emery.

Broken tooth almost ruined our vaca. Dr. Emery gave up lunch to fix it. No more pain and vaca is back on!
