Dr. Coyner grew up locally in a large family from the Lakewood/Steilacoom area. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Pacific Lutheran University and a 1990 grad of University of Washington School of Dentistry. He is a past-president of the Pierce Co. Dental Society and founder and president of the Pierce Co. Dental Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing dental services to disadvantaged children and adults. Dr. Coyner volunteers much of his time in homeless and community clinics and feels very strongly about giving back in the community.
Dr. Coyner is a member of the Washington State Dental Association and the American Dental Association. His favorite free time activities include any time spent with family, music, history, fishing and martial arts (two black belts).
Dr. Coyner is most proud of his staff, some of whom have been with the office for almost 20 years. Their caring attitude truly makes our office a patient centered practice. Our staff puts the patient's needs first so that treatments are efficient, timely, and effective. They are highly skilled and trained, and strive to provide dynamic and enjoyable service to each of our patients.

Been coming here since I was child. Dr Coyner was my very first dentist experience in life and has always been my favorite dentist in all my travels. Glad to have landed back home and return to his office for my dental needs. I recently had some work done by his new partner Dr. Simpson, and he is also a gem in the dental game. Thanks for providing such a wonderful service to the people of Gig Harbor and surrounding areas.

Who else can say they actually enjoy going to the dentist? Dr. Coyner and staff make it so easy and fun. They are all so personable and take the time to get to know you. Seriously, all of them. I've been going there for about 18 years and can't imagine going anywhere else. And....this is key to me...there is no pressure to have a bunch of work done. He will take the time to explain any issues, but in a matter of fact way - no drama. (I've been to drama dentists in the past and won't do that again.) Cheers to everyone at Dr. Coyner's office! Keep up the great work!!

Awesome dentist! Cheerfully opened his office on a Saturday for me when I wasn't even his patient (he was covering for my dentist) and rescued me from extreme pain from a broken temporary crown.

Richard Coyner DDS, family dentistry has been a rock in the Gig Harbor area since he opened his door over 25 years ago. My family and I have been going to him and his team for all of our dental care since our children (now adults) had their first set of baby of teeth. We've watched him grow his practice and cultivated an incredible team that is well skilled, friendly, focused on the comfort of the patent and best of all he's technologically current on the latest advances in dental care (in my case.. that's an important qualifier). My experience firsthand and (even as an observer) has always been the same; whether it's a technical procedure or a just a simple cleaning, Dr Coyner won't let you out the door without providing you an informed update on what will or what did take place and what you'll expect with any future visits. I have no qualms with giving him and his team 5 Stars and would without hesitation recommend him to anyone... especially anyone with a family! Ed Baker Milton, WA
