Richard A. Gaw, DDS graduated from the College of Dentistry of the University of Tennessee in 1993. While attending university, Dr. Gaw held the honor of the Pierre Fauchard Award; he also held officer positions during those four years, and he was a member of the Honor Council. He earned his IV sedation certification from the Montefiore Clinic at Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx. He earned his Masters in Conscious Sedation from the American Society for Dental Anesthesia. He is certified by the state of Tennessee in both Oral and IV Sedation. Dr. Gaw is a member of the American Society of Dental Anesthesia. He graduated and earned his fellowship from the prestigious MISCH Implant Institute for postdoctoral implant training. He is a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Well, I guess Richard only has 5 star reviews because he deletes all of the negative ones, like mine that was just deleted. So let's try this again... My wife has been dealing with constant pain in her jaw for about a month now. The other night, while eating dinner, her entire cap to her tooth popped off. She had only had it for ~4yrs. We went to a specialist, and discovered that the whole tooth below was infected, fractured in multiple places, and dead...due to the root canal that was done by Richard. Our current dentist attributed the problems to Richard using the wrong drill, and placing the cap on wrong. He called the entire situation iatrogenic. Our dentists very graciously agreed to talk on the phone with Richard...after which richard said that he was offended that he & his work would even be questioned, and that in no way would be be willing to help or offer any compensation for his mistakes. I wouldn't recommend richard or his work to anyone. What is more disappointing than his poor procedures, is his total disregard for us, his pride, and his rudeness. So now we are paying for his mistakes... Attached is a picture of the tooth that was killed by him, so that everyone can see what you'd be dealing with if you chose Richard's excellent work. If you would like me to take this review down, Richard, maybe you could offer some sort of compensation for your mistakes, instead of just deleting bad reviews.

Dr. Gaw has been treating my family for 15 years. He is extraordinary. His cosmetic work is art. Best technology, great location, big comfortable space. If it's an emergency, he will see you ASAP, weekends, holidays, whatever. And he's a great guy and all his patients love him. Highest recommendation.

I walked in on a Monday, with no appt, and asked if they could fit me in to fix a crown that had fallen out. They were so incredible and got me in and out within an hour... now THAT is customer service! Thank you !!!!

I had a great experience at Dr. Gaw's office as a new patient. He worked me in for an emergency procedure between Christmas and New Year's which I was exceedingly grateful for as I was scared I would not be able to find anyone accepting new patients. He relieved the immense pain I was in and scheduled a follow-up visit shortly after New Years. Very friendly, explained all my options, and did great work with minimal discomfort. Staff was top notch as well. Highly recommend.

I went to Dr. Gaw years ago and was always happy with the results. I moved away, but when I came back a couple of years ago, I was happy to find him still hard at work! Always gentle, thorough, and never makes a dental visit feel like a chore--more like "Hey, I get to go see Dr. Gaw tomorrow!" All of the staff there are always cheerful and friendly, from reception to hygienist to dental assistant. They recognize me and call me by name, which is nice, considering I'm only there a few times a year. When my insurance changed and he was no longer a "preferred" provider, I didn't care. I was willing to pay that difference, because he takes such good care of me.

Dr. Gaw and his staff are very friendly, competent, and thoroughly explain things with each appointment. I've had to have a couple of emergency procedures over the years, and Dr. Gaw personally responded quickly each time. Great experience, highly recommend.
