For more than 20 years, Dr. Scott VonBergen has been making smiles healthier and brighter. Graduating in 1995 from Loma Linda Universitys School of Dentistry, Dr. Scott first took a position at the Guam Seventh-day Adventist Clinic in Tamuning, Guam, where he worked for eight years, becoming their Dental Director in 2000.
After his time in the islands, Dr. Scott, a native north-westerner, relocated to Stanwood with his family, opening Restoration Dental in 2004. In Guam he experienced natural beauty and tight knit community, and the move to Stanwood helped solidify the importance of open spaces and close relationships.
An avid runner, bicyclist, and hiker, Scott is also a member of the Stanwood YMCA where he enjoys working out with Masters swim, spin class and yoga. He and his wife Sheila, along with their two daughters, love camping, getting their kayaks out on the water, and making music together. He and Sheila first met preparing for a piano concerto competition and the entire family loves sharing the gift of music playing the piano, guitar, bass, flute, and ukulele between them.
Eating, talking, and smiling are such an important part of peoples health, and whether its having the ability to eat the food you want or having the confidence to smile in public, helping people progress and reach their goals has always been satisfying.
Dental implants are one way to replace a missing tooth. A small titanium implant dental is surgically implanted into the bone and is allowed to set, the bone growing around it forming a naturally tight connection.
Infected tooth pulp cannot heal on its own, can weaken the entire immune system and is very painful. A root canal removes the infected pulp from the canals of the tooth before they are fined to prevent further infection.
It is important for a missing tooth to be replaced as soon as possible, not only for asthetics, but to maintain the health of surrounding teeth, changes in bite, and jaw health including TMJ prevention, gum disease, and further bone loss.
Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension, and can cause headaches, earaches, trouble or soreness opening and closing the mouth, clicking or popping of the jaw, jaw pain, and soreness that can extent to the entire face.
Each patient is individually evaluated, and solutions from replacing missing teeth, to adjusting bite, to using a plastic mouthguard are aimed to prevent further joint damage and the extreme or possible jaw surgery.

I visited the office today as a new patient, and I was very impressed with the thoroughness and friendliness. As for thoroughness, the doctor formulated a care plan for my dental care, and the front desk provided an itemized list showing what all the deductibles would be for each procedure in the plan. In addition, the exam was very detailed. As for friendliness, I enjoy talking with folks, and all staff were very approachable and willing to chat with me.

Restoration Dental's team is easy to work with and always friendly and helpful. Once, they found an old root canal done incorrectly during regular checkups/Xrays which could have caused bone problems. They referred me to the appropriate specialist and "fixed". Hygienists are great and really quick.

I am such a wuss when it comes to visiting the dentist. However, during my second visit with Dr. VonBergen that negative emotion diminished quickly, and I am sure it will disappear completely with every additional visit. Dr. VonBergen's clinic/office is such a pleasant environment, not only to receive exceptional dental care, but as a bonus receive treatment for any anxiety you may suffer due to the calm and pleasant ambience. Thank you so much, it means a lot to me. And thank you Sherry and Trina for your great services. Oh, and let me tell you I have sat in many dental chairs, most were nothing to write home about, and some were downright uncomfortable. Dr. VonBergen's chairs are like a spa treatment, plush and very comfy.

Husband had a tooth pull. He found the office was very clean and inviting, the same with the staff. He was impressed with how much work the doctor did himself and only needed his staff to help towards the end. For having a tooth chised out - it was good experience overall. We would recommend Dr VonBergen.
