I spent 5 hours and 15 mins getting ONE root canal today. In most cases, simple root canals require just one appointment lasting between 30 minutes to just over an hour. However, severe cases may demand 90 minutes or more, or even a second appointment if the dentist or endodontist recommends a permanent filling or crown for the tooth. I already know Reidsville is slow so I was expecting maybe 2 to 3 hours there. No. I was there from 8am to 1:30pm. I am hurting so bad. There was absolutely no reason for my diabetic, neuropathic, sucraise deficient stomach to have to be there that long. The lady he sent in to do work on my mouth around 12pm asked if I knew I was getting a root canal today when I complained about being their for four hours. She said I should have seen an endodontist that specializes in root canals only because the doctor sees other patients all day. I'm sorry but in my opinion if you schedule a root canal for a patient you should be able to perform it In under 5 hours if you have your stuff together. Anywhere I go, If I am scheduled for a time, I should have that time! I've had a root canal done at a different dentist office in Savannah before and it didn't even take two hours. They tried blaming my tooth when in actuality the problem is the fact that he had other patients to see instead of focus on getting me in and out. He was so busy chatting it up with the apprentices that were not prepped and ready to go and anticipate mine or the doctors needs. When I complained after 4 hours I swear they decided to hurt me even more in that last hour and 15 mins I was there. Of course the meds given to numb mouth at 8:15 are not as effective at 12pm... add another hour and 15mins of painful work on that. I had tears in my eyes. I for sure will never get a root canal done there again. I'd rather all my teeth fall out before I go back there. My husband complained and doctor called to say next time I need to be scheduled for when both dentists are there. Am I really the only person that thinks 5 hours for a root canal... even if the tooth is bad (like they say is reason) is absolutely ridiculous for one tooth? Now all that said... I will say everyone is friendly. The doctor didn't hurt me... think his name was "something" Buck. The dark skinned girl that worked on me around 12pm and told me in so few words that I should have been prepared to wait however long or see an endodontist is the one that hurt my mouth. Granted, I spent most my morning alone in the room at the dentist with either gauze or something in my mouth while waiting on them probably didnt help either. The office is clean. But they really need to work on how to manage time, how to schedule, and I'm still mad they changed the credit plan. Now we pay way too much interest on our dental work. What they had before the change, the patient preferred, was so much better than what they use now.
