A Palo Alto native and a graduate of Gunn High School, Dr. Eric Wus long road to becoming an orthodontist started with his Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego. He had a one-year hiatus working as a plant molecular biology research assistant at the Salk Institute in La Jolla.
Next came four years of dental school at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Eric Wu did a one-year Advanced Education General Dentistry residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he treated complex interdisciplinary cases.
Upon finishing that program, he worked as a general dentist for one year in Los Angeles in a cosmetic dental practice. To become an orthodontic specialist, Dr. Eric attended three years at the University of Pittsburgh and received his specialty degree in orthodontics.
He has seen many changes throughout the years, but he is dedicated to providing a caring environment along with state of the art treatment.Dr. Eric Wu has completed over 1000 lifetime cases of clear aligner treatment and a very experienced user of the Pitts 21 Bracket System Braces. So much so that Dr. Eric Wu loves to lecture and teach other orthodontics professionals and share his expertise!
Dr. Eric Wu has completed a mini-residency in Sleep Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Healso hashospital privileges at Stanford University and the Sleep Surgery Center as he works closely with the doctors at the Sleep Surgery Clinic.

I was born and raised in Oakland, CA. I spent my undergraduate at the University of California at Davis and Teachers College Columbia University for a masters program in Health Education. Outside of the office, I am on the PTA as VP of Events at a local elementary school.

I was born and raised in Peru. Since childhood, I have always been interested in the dental field given that my father owned a dental clinic back in Peru and my brother is a dentist. I have been in the orthodontic field for almost 10 years.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to California in 2008 after obtaining my bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. Originally, I wanted to become a physician but got into dentistry and have been working in the field for 10 years. The most gratifying part of my day is helping and seeing our patients reach their goal of an improved smile. I spend my spare time traveling, sightseeing, hiking, and cooking. I also enjoy craft making!
Orthodontic treatment can be started at any age. Many orthodontic problems are easier to correct if detected at an early age before jaw growth has slowed. Early treatment may mean that a patient can avoid surgery and more serious complications. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child first visit an orthodontist by age 7 or earlier if a problem is detected by parents, the family dentist, or the childs physician.
Phase I, or early interceptive treatment, is limited orthodontic treatment before all of the permanent teeth have erupted. Such treatment can occur between the ages of six and ten. This treatment is sometimes recommended to make more space for developing teeth, correction of crossbites, overbites, underbites, or harmful oral habits. Phase II treatment is also called comprehensive treatment because it involves full braces when all of the permanent teeth have erupted, usually between the ages of eleven and thirteen. We limit early treatment to situations where it truly matters and where it can make a difference to overall treatment outcomes.
Braces use steady gentle pressure to gradually move teeth into their proper positions. The brackets that are placed on your teeth and the archwire that connects them are the main components. When the archwire is placed into the brackets, it tries to return to its original shape. As it does so, it applies pressure to move your teeth to their new, more ideal positions.
The placement of bands and brackets on your teeth does not hurt. Once your braces are placed and connected with the archwires you may feel some soreness of your teeth for one to four days. Your lips and cheeks may need one to two weeks to get used to the braces on your teeth.
No. It is recommended, however, that patients protect their smiles by wearing a mouth guard when participating in any sporting activity. Mouth guards are inexpensive, comfortable, and come in a variety of colors and patterns.

My son's dental doctor recommended me this place and the first time I was seen at the office in Palo Alto the lady who did my contract was so nice and she helped me a lot and explained me what's the process on my 3rd visit I went to the Redwood City Clinnic and I was treated very nice and with so much help and information I needed my son loves Wu Orthodontist and he tells he every one it's nice in the Clinnic we feel very well treated and safe I really recommend this Orthodontist Clinnic Thank you

Dr. Wu and his staff are fantastic to work with. They make you feel very comfortable and are willing to take time to answer your questions and listen to what concerns you have. They are also very accessible over phone, email and even text. Having two locations is a bonus as one of their offices is closer to me. I am only starting my treatment now for the first month but expect nothing less than the same level of professionalism and helpfulness!

I have been with Eric wuu since April 2019 when my braces journey began! His staff and Eric have been very informative and very helpful through my braces transition. In the beginning the explanation and billing of the process was very detailed which helped me have a better understanding. His team is also very helpful with payment plan and understanding when it came down to paying month to month which was a plus for me because living in the bay you know haha. Through out the years he explained everything in each visit on how my braces was doing and how my smile was getting there.. Today was my final day of having braces and I couldn't be more excited. I want to say thank you to Dr wuu and his team for an amazing hospitality and a family like bond! Dancing with yall on my last day was fun! Now time for retainers and to enjoy my new smile!!! Thank you again 10 out 10 defitnalty recommend!

Wow just WOW! Kim was absolutely AMAZING with my very fidgety 9yr old. She had all the patience in the world for him (and my need to make him comfortable lol). She made us feel at home while in her chair and was able to answer all our questions. Dr. Wu was just as great! He put on my sons braces quickly and they turned out great My son's not to thrilled to have a mouth full of metal but in the end we know it's going to be worth it!! So happy we came here!
