Have been coming here for the past 2 years and have always had a friendly and professional experience. Moving from San Diego originally, I was very picky about my dentist and was glad that Dr. Nguyen was able to provide such great service along with his staff.

The receptionist was not very friendly. I found Dr. Nguyen to be inflexible and unyielding, and somewhat irritated.

It took me some time to find a good dentist after my last one sold her practice. I'm glad that I took my time and found a dentist as knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient as Dr. Nguyen and his staff. The office is right near the intersection of Artesia and Aviation, so it was easy to find and had plenty of parking. The staff was accomodating and took all the necessary steps to ensure adherence to Covid precautions without sacrificing the warm and friendly atmosphere. Dr. Nguyen really enjoys his work, and he takes the time to explain and illustrate any issues so that you can fully understand the why's and how's of any prospective procedure. The most impressive part of his style was how he specified what my copay would be prior to undergoing treatment. In all my years of seeing dentists, this is a very welcomed first, since I was generally used to simply experiencing sticker shock after most of my visits. I'm truly satisfied with Dr. Nguyen and his staff. Let's face it: visiting the dentist's office is never anyone's idea of a good time, but Dr. Nguyen's approach and manner really make the experience as pleasant as possible and that quality is as rare as it is precious.

Ever since I was little I've been afraid of the dentist , I've always had bad experiences. So when I was finally off my parents insurance and had to make my own appointments I dodged the dentist as much as I could . But finally I told myself it's time to go back to the dentist. I found a dentist right behind our house . But that was a bad experience too, they dentist was trying to over charge me for things she didn't do. So my boyfriend suggested to go to his dentist . So after a week I finally made an appointment. And Dr Nguyen is the best dentist I've ever had !! Not only does he explain everything throughly but he explains why he is doing the things he is doing . I don't think I've ever had a good experience when it came to cavities being filled . Dr Nguyen has the most gentle hands when it comes to putting the lidocaine shots . And now I can say I won't be afraid of going to the dentist now . Thank you Dr Nguyen!

Absolutely love Dr. Nguyen and his staff! Everything from addressing the insurance aspects to evaluating the health of the teeth and what if anything needs to be done is extremely efficient, thorough and well organized. Also everyone is very friendly. Dr. Nguyen fitted two crowns on me I am very pleased with the results. As he says to him working on a tooth is like working on apiece of jewelry. It shows, my crowns look like actual teeth. Since I have needed lots of dental work done over the years I have been a patient of several dentists. I must say I like being Dr. Nguyen's patient the most; happy I found him :).

From the first phone call it did not feel very welcoming but I just thought maybe the person was having an off day or something bad just happened so I still proceeded to make my appointment. When I went in the woman who was at the front desk was very nice (It was a different woman than on the phone, way different voice). The person who was doing my X-rays was pretty cold (I'm thinking maybe she was the one I talked to on the phone before, I could be wrong.) I wouldn't say "mean" necessarily just "I'm doing my job and I want to finish" Attitude. I don't expect someone to be overly happy/bubbly but I do want to feel like things are being handled by someone who cares about their job because that usually leads to them doing a good job. I hadn't had a full check up/cleaning in a while so I was already pretty nervous about the whole thing and then knowing how bad some dentist can be from past experience. A big problem is I don't think this dental office understands that most people don't want to pay a lot of money for someone to stab their gums or drill/scrub/pull their teeth so maybe making someone feel safe and as comfortable as possible while they are in such a vulnerable position isn't to bad of an idea, they did not. (even in just getting a cleaning) I knew I would need a lot of work done, which I did. But the dentist automatically started talking about root canals. He said I need two, even without the 3D X-ray to confirm that. Understandable, like I said it's been a while. The problem came when he kept pushing it and trying to up sell me on a specific kind of crown that he recommended and guess what so did the root canal person he sent me to. I got one root canal done. One of the main reasons I was sent to the root canal place was to get a 3D X-ray to confirm I needed it. I found later they never took that X-Ray. Needless to say I lost all trust for this place and any place they would referrer me to. When I found my new general dentist and got a second opinion (I used the X-rays this place took and the new dentist took their own plus a 3D X-ray) it turns out I actually don't need that second root canal, Maybe didn't even need the first. To top it off and end this experience, knowing I needed so much dental work done they still decide to wait 20 days after to send in a charge for a panoramic X-ray that they took the same day as my other X-ray which they already put in a claim and got paid for. So why would the second charge be for a day I wasn't there? Billing error? I'm sure that's what they'll say.... For now I have to pay out of pocket (Because after getting all the things they suggested done my insurance is at it's max. My X-rays would usually be 100% covered). I do not recommend this place.

I have been coming to Dr. James Nguyen for the past six years, I have always had a pleasant experience with him and his entire staff. I really like how honest and knowledgeable they all are . They always make sure that you are comfortable prior to any procedures and your always aware of any out pocket expenses before the work is done. I feel Dr. Nguyen is always caring for you and the care he provides. He also has a fabulous sense of humor. I enjoy refereeing his Dental Office to Family members and Co workers all the time

I'd been putting off my dental check up since I'd moved. After checking reviews of dental offices in the area, decided to come to Redondo Smile Dental. Upon entering, the office itself seemed to reassure me I'd chosen right. It was already better than my previous one. The warm reception promptly made me feel welcome and it didn't take long for me to be ushered into the back. The machines are very high tech. I was surprised by the digital x-rays! Dr. James Ngyuen was very thorough and patiently walked me through the x ray. The cleaning itself went so well that I didn't get nervous at all like we all do when we go to the dentist. And the best part is that I didn't have any cavities or any issues to my relief. So I've gone ahead and scheduled my next cleaning. Needless to say, I think I found my new dentist.

I have been a dental chicken my whole life. Going to the dentist is the last thing that I ever want to do. I was referred to Dr. James Nguyen a number of years ago when I needed some dental work done. At first I was very nervous, but Dr. James and his entire staff was extremely gentle with me knowing how I felt. He explains everything clearly, and makes sure that I am as comfortable as possible. He makes sure to show me pictures of my mouth so that I have a clear and complete understanding of what needs to be done. He is extremely knowledgable, and is a perfectionist with his work. I have been going to him now for a few years, and he and his staff continue to be professional, gentle, and efficient. If you are a dental chicken, this is the dentist for you! He gets an A+ for patience!!! The office is clean and his staff is always accommodating. Thank you Dr. James for always putting me at ease, and for keeping my teeth/gums so healthy.

My overall experience about my dental visit with Dr James was phenomenal . I have had a worse toothache infection with migraine headaches coming in earlier today . The office staff and doctor at Redondo Beach Smile Dental were the nicest people. They were very helpful comforting me and caring all throughout the treatment. I hated getting shot in my mouth but I didn't even feel the needle at all. Amazing doctor and very professional staff! I love my new dentist. Thank you so much Dr James! I will never go back to my old dentist again .

Dr. James's is very rude and disrespectful to his staff in front of his patients. I find that unprofessional and it makes me uncomfortable.
