Dr. Simmons graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in history from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio, where she was awarded high honors and a distinction in dental education.
To provide comprehensive and personable dental care to those in her community, Dr. Simmons founded Red Sun Dental in Espanola, New Mexico. Our practice has cared for families from Espanola, NM, and its surrounding communities for over 60 years. The entire staff was sweet & cared about my concerns as a new patient. Very through! Considered our travel time as well. They were able to work us in for a cleaning because of sudden cancelations. It worked out amazingly well. Thank you

Pros: Clean office, Dr. Tess Simmons is enthusiastic, professional and has an excellent memory. Dr. Really cares about health and longevity of patients teeth. Dental fillings are sturdy and resilient. Examination by Dr. Tess is thorough and accurate. Cons: My primary concern is receiving the most thorough cleaning. New hygienist each visit: 3/3 visits thus far. Dental hygienists are quick and not the most thorough cleaners (I notice portions of my teeth that were skipped during cleanings on all 3 visits) Ladies focus please!! Staff frequently schedules patients earlier than 6 months and then expects the patient to pay out of pocket as insurance will only cover cleanings every 6 months. Front desk made assumptions about myself and canceled my membership plan without notice or communication. Front desk staff does not provide cost of care information up front when scheduling appointments. I openly voiced that I am not interested in yearly x rays as recommended by some dental professionals. I wish Dr. Simmons was more accommodating towards patients regarding x-ray sensitivities.

Great customer service. Dental assistant explains everything that she is doing and gives u good tips on how to floss and keep your teeth clean. Dr. Simmons always goes in to see how u are doing and too explains what is going on with your teeth. Dr. Simmons is always so nice and friendly.
