Its rewarding to get to know each child and be part of their life as they grow. I like seeing their interests evolve as they explore new ideas and develop new passions. Learning what a kid loves to do, whether thats sports, dance, academics, cheerleading, or playing video games, is fun!
Its also important, because if I can get them talking about something that excites them, it is easier for me to communicate with them. Not only do I have greater insight into how they think and whats important to them, but they know I am listening and care.
As a father with two young sons, I know how to connect with kids. I also understand a parents concerns. I spend a lot of time talking with parents, wanting to understand their expectations and apprehensions, and seeking to establish trusting, open communication.
Constant learning allows me to offer patients the latest in materials, procedures, and technology. I am committed to staying well-informed of any new options that improve patient care and results: my patients deserve only the best!
My family is the center of my life. Ashley, my wife, is a teacher at Ocean Springs High School. We have two young boys, Jacob who is 9 and Wesley who is 6. Our family is always on the go, as both boys play football, baseball, basketball, and soccer and I coach their teams, too. We keep on our toes at home, too, thanks to our young Labrador, Finn!
In my free time, youll usually find me at a ball field, somewhere, coaching my boys and their friends. When not at the ball fields, youll find us in the boat, fishing or enjoying the barrier islands. We love attending LSU and New Orleans Saints football games, too.
I grew up in Ocean Springs and have spent my life here: this community means the world to me. I serve on the Ocean Springs Baseball Organization Board of Directors, MS Big Game Fishing Club Board of Directors, and I helped bring NFL flag football to Ocean Spring and Jackson County.
For over 15 years I have practiced pediatric dentistry along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In that time, I have cared for every child in my chair like family: gently, kindly, and patiently, always attentive to their comfort and wellbeing.
Our goal is to be your little ones dental home, where they always feel safe and comfortable. This helps put them on the path to a lifetime of good oral health, and motivated to keep their smile clean and beautiful through regular dental care as an adult!
Dr. Rector and our staff know our patients and their families by name and spend time building relationships with each. We want you and your children to know youre part of our family and that we are here for you!
Our main focus is on patient and parent education, which is vital to avoid future dental issues and maintain proper oral health. We dont lecture, though. Instead, we use everyday words to teach and guide, explaining why the information is important. Whether were talking about proper brushing and flossing, nutrition, or establishing good habits, we reinforce the message with lots of praise and encouragement.
Likewise, we work hard to help kids and parents overcome any anxiety they may have about treatment. Before starting a procedure, we calmly walk through everything that will happen, using every day words and a Show-Tell-Do approach. Taking something unknown and making it non-threatening and familiar relieves worry and reassures our patient and their family.

We had the best experience! My son has always been very anxious when it comes to going to the dentist. They made his experience a whole new one, and he's actually excited to go back! I will recommend them to everyone!

We had a wonderful experience at Dr. Rector's office. From our initial visit to our procedure his staff was top notch. My four year old had a few teeth that need immediate attention. His staff worked with me quickly to get us in and to get the procedure scheduled. The day off was good and I was able to go back there with my son. It warmed my heart to know that Dr. Rector and his staff truly care about my child. He talked to my son about what he was going to do and the cool tools he needed to help complete his task. Dr. Rector was quick with the procedure and made sure I understand everything before it took place. We highly recommend them.

I will not take my daughter to another dentist, as long as we live here. Dr. Rector is a fantastic dentist. We went to 3 before we were told by another dentist to go to Rector Pediatric. My daughter had quite a few teeth needing to be fixed. Dr. Rector was the only dentist who offered to treat her in his office, instead of sending us straight to a surgery center, for her to be put under anesthesia and have her mouth worked on. He told me she did great when he fixed her teeth in his office, and she didn't need to go to a surgery center at all! Plus his staff are super nice, and everyone noticed that my daughter's legal name is not what we call her. They all called her by the appropriate name. No other dentists' office did that. I had to keep telling everyone she wouldn't answer to her name. Not at this office. Thank you, Rector Pediatric.

We have been seeing Dr. Jason Rector with now all 3 of our children. We have cleaning exams to dental work done. Our children have enjoyed coming back each and every time. His team make our children feel comfortable and eased their minds at the minimal times that they were scared. I highly recommend Dr. Rectors practice. His practice will not disappoint you. This place and the staff there are Phenomenal. My 3 year old son is very strong willed, won't let just anyone touch him or get too close to him. Which is why this is the one place I don't stress about taking him too. They even include his big sissy to help him feel more comfortable. AMAZING! Absolutely AMAZING!

My son is autistic and dental exams are a nightmare except for here. He and his assistant are just amazing with my baby boy. They are not uncomfortable around him. They are not phased or treat us differently when he is screaming and fighting. I have tried to go to so many other places and it's always a drawn out nightmare ending in us leaving without being able to be treated. Dr. Rector and his assistant have a gift for the gifted.
