Dr. Jerry Reasner graduated from Andrews University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. During his tenure there he was an Andrews scholar an award voted by students and faculty for academic achievement and leadership. He was also inducted into the distinctive Whos who in American Universities and Colleges. Dr. Reasner wanted to be a dentist since early elementary school, and began his journey to achieve his dream at Loma Linda University.

He spent his first two years there, and while at Loma Linda he became involved in implant research and represented the University at the National Student Research Convention. Dr. Reasner then followed his heart and returned home to his fianc and began studying at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. After graduation he continued his training by completing the Prosthodontic residency at the University of Alabama. This included extensive training in crown/bridge, dentures, partial dentures, implant prosthodontics, and full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Reasner was also a clinical instructor during this time.

He has been in private practice in the Mountain Brook area since 1987. He has a strong belief that his patients deserve the best care dentistry has to offer, and exhibits this by investing in the latest technology and continuing education. He also surrounds himself with experienced caring staff. Dr. Reasner believes in treating patients as an individual and tailoring treatment plans to fit their needs.

Prosthodontists are experts in the restoration and replacement of teeth they make smiles look beautiful and function the way they should. Prosthodontics (also known as dental prosthetics or prosthetic dentistry) is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). In fact, out of approximately 150,000 dentists nationwide, only 4000, just 2%, are Prosthodontists. It is the only dental specialty under which the concentration of cosmetic/esthetic dentistry falls.Many general dentists call themselves cosmetic dentists but cosmetic dentistry is not a specialty. After completing four years of dental school, prosthodontists receive an extra three years of specialized training in an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited graduate program. This is where prosthodontists are highly trained in state-of-the-art techniques and procedures for treating multiple, diverse, and complex dental conditions. They will also learn how to restore the optimum function and aesthetics of a smile.

The ADA defines prosthodontics as the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes.

In other words, if you are considering redesigning your smile by havingdental implants, dentures, porcelain veneers, crowns, or any other prosthetic dental treatment, dont just see any dentist go to apro- a prosthodontist!
