Saliva is one of your bodys natural defenses against plaque because it acts to rinse your mouth of cavity-causing bacteria and other harmful materials. Dry mouth (also called Xerostomia) is a fairly common condition that is caused by diminished saliva production. People with medical conditions, such as an eating disorder or diabetes, are often plagued by dry mouth. Eating foods such as garlic, tobacco use, and some kinds of medications, including treatments such as cancer therapy can diminish the bodys production of saliva, leading to dry mouth. Other causes are related to aging (including rheumatoid arthritis), and compromised immune systems.
Some of the less alarming results of dry mouth include bad breath. But dry mouth can lead to more serious problems, including burning tongue syndrome, a painful condition caused by lack of moisture on the tongue.
If you dont have a medical condition that causes it, dry mouth can be minimized by sipping water regularly, chewing sugarless gum and avoiding smoking. Of course, there is no substitute for regular checkups and good oral hygiene.

The staff is so helpful and understanding as I have mobility issues. Dr.s Lauren and Todd were virtual pain free and very engaged with me with explanation of the treatments. Lisa did my cleaning and was very thorough and again pain free. Just a great team to intrust your dental care to!

After cracking a tooth on a Saturday, Dr. Lauren Reagin saw me the following Monday and professionally and expeditiously installed a temporary crown, saving the tooth. I am scheduled for the permanent repair in two weeks. I am so very appreciative of her responsiveness, concern, and professionalism. However, I am not surprised. My entire family has received phenomenal dental care from Reagan Family Dentistry and Doctors Laren, Todd, and Bill for well over 18 years. They have earned my highest recommendations!

Dr. Todd and the staff at Reagin Dentristy were the best! I was a new patient and I needed 2 small chips fixed -- I thought I was being nitpicky but Dr. Todd cared as much about the detail as I did. The service was gentle and quick, Dr. Todd Reagin and his technician were super friendly. Jennifer at the front is very quick and helpful. They were able to get me in pretty quickly from the time that I called, especially for being a new patient. I'll be coming back for a cleaning and making Reagin Family Dentistry my regular dentist office.

I have been a patient of Reagin Dentistry about 30 years starting with Dr. William Reagin when he was located in Tucker, Ga. I have transitioned to Dr. LAUREN Reagin, Dr. Reagin's daughter-in-law, who is a very knowledgeable dentist and very personable. The practice is efficient and I am always seen on time. All employees, including Jackie, my dental assistant and Liz, my hygienist are friendly, very competent, and caring.

Excellent dental practice. Both doctors (Lauren and Tom Reagin) are great, they're professional and pay a attention to detail. Hygienists are friendly and thorough, my teeth felt great after my visit. Jennifer at the front desk is lovely, she welcomes you warmly on arrival and takes very good care of you whilst checking out. I highly recommend Reagin Family Dentistry.

I just wanted to thank Dr. Todd Reagin for a wonderful job that he did on a tooth fell out. He and his assistant were very professional and made me feel that I was in the best possible hands. My tooth had fractured but he knew how to do the root canal and implant a new crown. I am left with a beautiful new tooth. Thanks so much Dr. Reagin you're a blessing
