Friendly! A word we hear often to describe our team. They are highly educated, experienced, and have the technology and the techniques to serve our patients. However, without the care that our team pours out, we would be just another office.

SusieSusie grew up here in Lakewood and went to St. Josephs High School. She graduated from USC with a Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys helping her husband teach at his Martial Arts school, also here in Lakewood. She loves to go skiing in Mammoth and camping with her friends and family. She also loves to bake (usually anything with chocolate is her favorite!). She has been with Dr. Mangigian since 2001 and loves helping people keep healthy smiles.

Angie Angie, a Long Beach native, holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology from CSUDH and received her Dental Hygiene degree from Cerritos College in 1994. She has been working with Dr. Mangigian since 1996. Her passion is to serve patients well with the best treatment possible. She loves the dental hygiene profession and strives to teach patients how to best care for their teeth and gums. A few of Angie 's interests include trips to the Sequoias with family and friends, playing board games, serving with 'Kid Zone' at church and homeschooling her and her husband 's two daughters.

Raquel Raquel is our office manager. She has been with Dr. Mangigian since 1999. She keeps the office running smoothly. She has two teen boys and loves to go to all of their football and baseball games, and help out with scores and stats. She is an expert in dental insurance and can help you maximize your dental benefits. She enjoys helping our patients have a comfortable and positive experience at all of their office visits.

Generally the tooth has no reaction to fillings. Occasionally, there may be some temporary tenderness to chewing or cold, but this eventually goes away. Try not to test the tooth immediately after placement of the filling. It needs time to get acquainted with the decay removal and new filling. Using Sensodyne or any other tooth sensitive toothpaste should help.

  • Bleeding. To prevent unnecessary bleeding, maintain gentle pressure over the surgery site(s) by biting on gauze. You have been given an ample supply of gauze pads. If more are required, they can be purchased at a drugstore or supermarket. Biting on a teabag that has been moistened and wrapped in a piece of gauze also helps to stop bleeding. Pressure should be continued for one to two hours or until most of the bleeding has stopped. Change the packs every 15-20 minutes or when saturated. Place a towel on your pillow the first night in case of oozing.

  • Eating. It is important to get adequate nutrition after surgery to help the healing process. Just drink liquid food supplements and juices and eat soft foods today. Progress to firmer foods as healing progresses.
  • Rinsing and brushing. Do not rinse for the first 24 hours after surgery. This could dislodge the blood clot and lead to a dry socket. After 24 hours, rinse with warm salt water (1/2 tsp. salt in 8 oz. of water) 3-4 times a day for 2 days. Besides rinsing too soon, other actions that could contribute to a dry socket are smoking, using a straw, and drinking carbonated beverages.
  • Ice packs. To help prevent the swelling that occurs the next day, ice packs should be applied to the face near the surgery site. Apply these ice packs for periods of 20 minutes on 5 minutes off until bedtime on the day of surgery. With most oral surgery, swelling peaks at about 48 hours and then starts to go down. Significant swelling beyond this time could indicate infection. If this occurs, call me.

Depending on the situation, most root canal treatments heal very quickly with no tenderness. If there is a reaction, the tooth should start to feel normal again within 48 hours. Ibuprofen (3 200 mg tabs every 6 hours) is best during this time. If swelling or prolonged soreness occurs, call me at the office or on my cell phone 714-315-5705.

Bleaching is a safe process that restores white smiles. Teeth may experience some sensitivity. This normally goes away the next day. Sensitivity toothpastes are available in case you have a lot of abrasion against the teeth from wear and tear. I suggest a monthly booster application of the tray bleach for the first few months to solidify the teeth whitening process. After that, most people will bleach after their hygiene visits to maintain a bright smile. Remember that all teeth want to go yellow againso keep a regular schedule.

I have been going to Dr. Mangigian for nearly 30 years and no other dentist will do. I dread the day he retires. He genuinely cares about you and does all he can to alleviate your fears and pain. He's super talented not only in dentistry but in life. Awesome guy!

Going to visit the dentist is rarely a fun experience but the Dr and staff are so easy going and kind that you sometimes forget what you are there for. Dr Mangigian walks you through what he is doing and takes a lot of the stress out of your treatment.

Dr. Mangigian is an awesome Dentist! He is gentle, kind, and personable. My daughter drives all the way from Bakersfield, just to see him! She has recommended several people to him!! I highly recommend him.

For years if not decades the dentist has been a must do/should do/hate to do experience. And the shots were the peak of a routinely crummy experience. Until Ray Mangigian. Although he's a very sweet guy his skill at making this whole process comfortable and pretty darn easy is the best I've ever known. Hell, it's the best anyone I know has known. And the shots are weirdly painless. How does he do that? Actually, I don't care. Just keep doing it.
