Dr. David Rathke earned his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1998 after earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1980 at the top five nationally rated UT Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry, where he was chosen 'the student most proficient in anesthesiology.' He is also a third-generation alumnus of Sam Houston State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976 with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. Although born and raised elsewhere in Texas, Dr. Rathke graduated from Huntsville High School in 1972, and was in the top 10% of his class.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Brazos Valley District Dental Society, The Houston-Conroe-Huntsville Implant Study Group, the International Association for Functional Orthodontics, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Rathke has been happily married to Pam Ryan Rathke for more than 32 years, and is immensely proud of their two sons, Bryan and Benjamin, and their first grandson, Samuel. Dr. Bryan joined the practice several years ago (see his bio below.) Benjamin graduated Valedictorian from Huntsville High School, and is currently in graduate school studying Visualization in the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University, where he was a four year member of B-Company in Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets as a percussionist in the nationally famous Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Rathke has a very wide variety of interests, including Amateur Radio, electronics and computers, astronomy, woodworking and metal machining, genealogy, history (especially Texas history), and music.

Labor Day weekend a filling came out. Called Dr Rathke & left massage. 5 minutes later he called & he fixed it on a holiday weekend !

Want to give Rathke Family Dentistry a huge shoutout! We've used them the last 3 years and love that whole office!! They treat you like family and are super kind! Dr. Bryan Rathke is very good at his profession. I wanted to get braces and he advised me to use Invisalign. In less than a year my teeth look great! I appreciate him and all his staff!! Need a dentist give them a try!

Everyone is always so kind. They truly care and treat you like family. The Staff was great with my 4 year old and I am excited to see what Invisalign can do for my smile! Dr. Bryan is very thorough and makes sure all of your questions are answered!

Seemed great at first the people were attentive and very social. Got a couple of fillings and was quoted 362 dollars which I paid up front and was offered to buy a sonic care brush for 39.99. Ended up being charged 99.99 for the brush which I wasn't really too concerned and just went with it. A few months after everything they are now trying to charge another 500+ and are still arguing about it saying apparently my insurance didn't cover it and they are only quoting it off of other peoples insurance. They seem like crooks. I would give 0 stars if I could because now they are trying to rob me.

I've had such a great experience with Rathke Family Dentistry! Everyone is so friendly, and it feels like they are genuinely happy you are there. The level of detail and attentiveness from both the hygienist and dentist is unmatched in Huntsville. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Bryan Rathke for all your dental care needs!

I cannot begin to express how thankful we are for the Rathke Family Dentistry. We had a very negative experience at a different dentist office in town and went to Rathke's practice for a second opinion the same day. Not only were they kind, comforting, and accommodating to the fullest extent, they really seemed to understand the problem we had just dealt with and wanted to lend a hand. Their prompt professionalism and compassion earned them lifelong customers in us and I really hope anyone reading this considers making them your family dentist as well.

Rathke Dentistry is such a wonderful place to go to! Everytime I go there I am treated like family! They are extremely respectful, helpful, actually care about their work, remember small details about the patient and then ask to show they care, the list goes on and on! If you are looking for a wonderful dental team to help you then look no further. If you're having a bad day and just need to see a smiling face then look no further. I truly couldnt recommend anyone any higher! The best team. The friendliest staff. All of this for a very reasonable cost.

I have moderate dental anxiety due to a not so great experience in my past with the dentist continuing to work even after a tear fell down my cheek and I told him I was in pain. Dr. Bryan Rathke talked to me for a while before he ever looked in my mouth and explained that he would NOT do that to me and would take as long as I needed to get and stay comfortably numb while he helped me to achieve the smile and overall dental health I want to achieve. He made me feel confident in my choice to try Rathke Dental and I would gladly recommend anyone to them for your dental needs. I will never go anywhere else again.

Everyone here is amazing. The ladies in the front, the nurses, the dentist. They played with my babies since I couldn't get a last minute baby sitter. They were so kind, so helpful, and so informative. I cannot praise them enough!

I have always been lucky with my teeth, with one problematic tooth over 38 years and just 1 filling. I've had some bad luck with dentists though, ever since I left Madisonville under the care of Doc Bennett. I won't name businesses because that's just tacky, but I will say that I was told I needed 5 fillings and a crown on my bad tooth about 4 moths ago. I should have gotten a second opinion, but didn't have the time with my busy schedule. I had the work done and have been in pain ever since. I went to a different dentist who performed a cleaning and then asked me back for decay under a filling. They were unable to get me numb after 2 appointments and almost 100 dollars later for supplies. So I reluctantly try a 3rd dentist, Dr Rathke, whose staff was very helpful and knowledgeable even though I had my doubts. Dr Rathke took 3 xrays for comparison on the tooth in question. There was no decay under the filling, so apparently I didn't need to be numbed or drilled on in the first place. He took the time to correct all the damage to my teeth and treated me very well while being professional and funny. I will be going back if needed in the future, and recommend to those who've had bad experiences to try him out. I don't believe you will be let down in any way.

Dr. David Rathke and Dr. Bryan Rathke are highly skilled professionals who use the most up to date techniques and cutting edge technology. They addressed all of my concerns and put me at ease. In my case they took particular care to precisely match the color and sheen of a repaired tooth to be exactly the same as the neighboring teeth. They have a wonderful support staff and make a great team. I couldn't ask for a more amazing group of individuals!
